We need purity in our minds and souls

A spiritual discourse on unity, the nature of the soul, and daily practice.

"A very fine drop is also that... This very fine drop will become the whole ocean."

"God is each and every one: your mother and your father are God. Then come the children; they are our gods."

Swami Maheshwarananda (addressed as Guruji) delivers an evening satsang, reflecting on his travels and the global family of Yoga in Daily Life. He explores the metaphor of the individual as a drop merging into the divine ocean, discusses the relationship between science and spirituality, and emphasizes lifelong purification, respect for parents as divine, and integrating spiritual practice into daily life through mantra and humility.

My dears, it is a beautiful day. There was beautiful sunlight the whole day, and I was so happy. I am going from Strelki to India again, but I said I would come here to all of you, and so I am here. It is very great that I could see you. We never know when or where we will meet again and again, maybe later in these times. I want to feel myself in my heart, and you also. I want to see you again. Our Yoga in Daily Life is now around the whole world. When I came from India, I was first in London, then Vienna, then Linz, and now here. The whole day, while driving in the car, I was thinking about this place here. Many of you have been with me here for a very long time. From here comes the energy. Everyone, of course, has their work and many things to do. But there are always meditations, yoga exercises, and we come, furthermore, to spiritualities. We have to live that life in two ways. One is your families, your work—many things—and it has to be very good. The second is for the spiritualities of yoga, Yoga in Daily Life. I was thinking of one of my sisters sitting there. We were together for many, many years. They were coming from here to other parts, and there were horses, yes, and yoga. The person who was coming and giving us horse training—who was that from? Yes, yes... that's it. How many years? That is always there inside. Sometimes one cannot come; there is something to do, this and that. But the soul inside is there. The seed is there, and the seed grows again and again, coming more and more. Once fruit comes, next year's fruits come again—our people, our friends, etc. This is number one. Number two is that we are all searching for God. God is each and every one: your mother and your father are God. Then come the children; they are our gods. And we are coming further and further. Not only humans—each and every creature is God. A living little mosquito, yes, a mosquito also has life inside, and that is God. But if it comes and bites us, that is different, but its life is that. Not only these creatures, but in the ocean, how many creatures are there? Not only that, the water is also God. Without water, how many days will we live? In India we say, "Jal" means water. Jagadīś is a name of God. Jal Jagadīś—he is the God, the Guru, God. It is one of the five elements, and water is that life. A very fine drop is also that. We see the ocean, we see the clouds, we see dropping waters. Sometimes, very fine water drops. This very fine drop will become the whole ocean. We have a drop in our palm, and we are sitting or standing near the ocean, and we put one drop of water into it. This drop will make an ocean. So this drop falls into the water, the ocean; we cannot get it back at all. It becomes the whole oneness, the whole ocean, anywhere—life. So when we meditate, in meditation, where do we go? Wherever we will go, where are we coming from? It is the one in that our self, our four elements. And one day, the ātmā, the soul or whatever—these three become just like space, only space, only space. Like a drop of the ocean, the drop and the whole ocean. This drop immerses in the whole ocean. Similarly, a very tiny creature, so small we can't even see it, becomes one with the water. When we go out, all elements going, then we are in the cosmic. We know, and all other creatures know, but we humans know more. We know that immensity. Humans have made great things; many scientists, and it will go further. But there are two: science and yoga. Yoga means our spiritualities. So, myself, I bow down to both scientists and yogīs or gurus, whatever it is. This science and this spirituality are there. Some we can say are friends, and many are not. But what comes with science for humans? When we die, when we are scientists, one day we will die and will not come back. But when one becomes a spiritual great saint—many, many ṛṣis, the five ṛṣis—they are in the space. Very many yogīs, just now, about one day or one week something in Strelka... they saw that for about 40 or 50 years, living still. They brought it, they mixed it, everything, and how this person was—skins and everything like that—but still walking and going, doing. Only I saw it; I didn't go there, and the window, but it is like this. So there are many. In that coming, like Alagpurījī—we have Alagpurījīs. Alagpurījī is from Bhagavān Śiva's time, ages and ages. Their body may be, it is said, but their body becomes like—only we cannot see. They can go in the earth, in the oceans, in space. Our Devapurījī, Mahāprabhujī's disciple, Devapurījī—we have seen with our own eyes that he went through the stones. He was riding a horse in the air, and under the stomach of this horse, he was holding outside here, backside. Yes, he is, and you can get it. Maybe you will meditate or something. So both are very good. Our science is very great, and very great, and this science sometimes comes good. They made here and killed somebody in how many thousands of kilometers, and comes, brings the what? Yes. So science is great and good, and coming there from here, killing someone and then the machine goes out back now—but this is not good; we should not do that. Others, the yogīs, great yogīs, they cannot go further if they have very pure qualities. Qualities... this is different. So it is said in yogic, who is telling this? That "I"—"I" means anybody, yeah? I practice, I practice, I do, I pray, I meditate, I humble myself with kindness, I am doing everything. But sometimes, suddenly, something comes, and we become negative. Again, one thread is broken, but the thread is gone. But again, you or me, or myself, I say, "Oh my God, I made a mistake, this and this," but it will again come. I'm coming, I'm telling this—not only me, some great saints and yogīs are telling also. Mahāprabhujī, my Gurujī, Madhavānajī—we will all go into the cosmic, but when we die. Now, talking about humans, it is this: how do we all purify our bodies completely, with every day of meditation and everything? Then, when the time comes, we die. All animals, everything, and humans, and everything. There is only one path. There is no one that tells this is a Hindu, this is a Christian, this is a Muslim, and many are this. But when the life goes out of our body, that time you cannot halt. And there is only one path; everything comes there. But now it is said, "Where will you go?" So one is that the water is going down or something, and those who, like you, are holy people, all sitting here, you will go into the cosmic only at the end of life—maybe not a month, one day, or hours, or something. Then we have no power to do anything else. Then we say, "Okay, your duty is finished now. It is we give you," and so that will go where, here or there. And so, is that how people's energy? Yogīs, and all this, they don't meet. And this, many, many things: purification, purification, purification. So you are doing, you are doing. We know that we make some mistakes; we are doing this, we are this. Sometimes we are meditating, sometimes we are dancing, sometimes we are enjoying. Why not? We should enjoy. Okay? But in the brain, in the mind, and in the heart is my purity. Again, my mala, my mantra. So, when you get a mantra, that mantra is all the time. You can live it. For example, you are giving me a mantra. It's constantly going on. Some, it will burn or bite right, but again, it will be energy with you. And if you have not done properly or gone, you will again come in life. But in which form will you come to me? So again, it's not so that humans will come back all the time, no, no, no. But if we come again, and we will, we practice, we do something, many things. Many times we said, "Oh, my family, they died, one person, and oh, again it was poor, and my grandchild is ours, is nothing." That time is different; it will be. Yeah, we have understanding, we are thinking, and we are giving this. Dreams come. Dreams are coming always because we have the feelings inside. But then, ocean, one drop is falling, then we don't know where, how it is. So we, oh my friends, it doesn't matter in which country, which language, how you are, everything—but try to do that: I am human, and I will. In through this, in the humans, I told many times: when I wake up, when I'm asleep, wake up, I see I am what? Human. I am human. Morning, when we say, "I am human," what is that? Humans—then which kind? And so, you are all pure, everything. Hey Bhagavān, God, whatever. I am a human. Give me the human's qualities. Then we get up from the bed, we put our hand before putting down. I said, "Mother, can I put my foot on you?" There are two mothers. As long as our mother is living physically, we should be humble, loving, and good. Be good. Be nice to your mother and everything, do the seva for your mother. Until the mother dies, we should know that we are doing the seva. And then she's gone, but we are still sleeping, and we step out. Then we said, "Mother Earth. Mother Earth." We are stepping on the stone, and everywhere on Earth, we said, we wake up and tell the Earth, that's all. Our mother is all mother. Mother is the mother. And the father is that which will give you everything further. And then, about waters, and this is what I am telling. So, how will we do it? And that's why you see what we have. Parabrahma, Parātmā, God, and then we are born. Our father, mother, in this, the gurus, etc. But we did not give the children proper respect. For the child, sometimes, you know, the parents and children, and doesn't marry, "I don't want to like them, I won't." What is mother? In your womb, how you came, and how was, and come—this is that life. Is the life in life everything? Many animals, they know also. Many animals, there after eating and going, and then after coming, midnight, midday, they all animals are, they are coming, sitting there together. Rabbits also. And then, going to sleep, these animals are also coming. The birds, they are all coming there. All life is there, and they know very well. They know there is. In this way, we should, because God has given us our father and our mother, and we should take them very greatly. And when we will all be like this, there will be no people angry, no problems, no... There are many things, and now such a power goes in the wrong direction. If we can give good energy, then we can give to more people. We can give more, and also to other animals and birds, and this and that. So, we wake up in the morning and say, your life, how's your life? Daytime also, and when we go to sleep, I close my eyes, but oh God, let me be like in mother's, what you say that? Yeah, so there are three points. We are awake, we are here, awaken everything. Number one. Number two is going to sleep. And the third is dreaming, going through the dreams there. So we are not the whole time we are sleeping. We are sleeping, we are practicing many things. We forget now dreams we don't know, but we do the dreams, everything, everything. And where there is some pain in the body or something, then it is Mother God, Mother God, she gives us sleeping in sleep. And in the morning, we come to our stomach, and everything is very good. We are relaxed, everything. In this way, the ṛṣis and the yogīs said, "Be thyself." You have to do. I am giving you, or talking and living. It is just I am giving. But you have to do it yourself. But those words or mantras, or whatever it is, have been given. Yes, and that will remain ever. It will remain. The body will die, but this will go further. It will go further. And so, you are all our Yoga in Daily Life. There are many, it is, see. And some days now, people said about yoga, and they said, "We should teach yoga, this and that." And they said, "But we don't ask if we meet or not meet." Oh, now they paid, so yoga—this is not proper yoga. What is it they are giving? But... My dears, many, many yogīs, sādhus, they're students, they are all very good, they are all pure, not only in our Yoga in Daily Life, but other yogīs, many, many yogīs in other countries also, and they are giving the spiritual in such a way. Many yoga centers, many yoga centers, and I am so happy that such gurus, gurus also, not only like this—you are also gurus. The Guru has become. When you were born, when you were born, see, when you came, somebody pulled you out, yeah? They did something for you, yeah? Then they gave you everything, then they gave you the cycle, then they gave you something more, and a car, and a helicopter. Who has given you this? Your guru, your teacher, who was writing you, giving things. So many are our gurus. Guru means teacher. May I say the guru is the English or Hindi language, and you can have your teacher. Yes, our old peoples, still those who are old, for example, my age also and more other ones, they always tell, "My teacher, my guru, was so good, and he's my guru." Yes, my teacher, what was learning me this and that? Always we said, "Oh, my guru, yes." And nowadays, people don't tell anything to the teacher. And then, that's why it is all going away. Is your mother? Yes. We have, we said, everyone, to one child, little, we will say in India, "Oh, my child, how are you? How are you?" We all said, but the real mother is that mother. But we all said as a child. It means that we should not do something wrong to a child. Our children, we should say it is our children. All we are telling everybody is good. Yes, but many do not. So, mother is ever, and father too. And you are also, so we can say everybody, we can do everybody good, everything. But you come back to your real mother. Sometimes the mother is angry, and they say, "What have we done?" Okay. But still, you will say, "No, Mother, I have my time now." So I will give back, mother, what you have given me. Women's mother, therefore it is said, we said all women are the mothers. And yes, the husband, the father, has done something, and this, but he, he is always... but what happened is, he is only the mother. And when it comes to the baby, then she said, "Yes, my child." Then get out, but still, the mother is constantly... The father is sleeping now, but the mother, she is all the time saying, "It will be, yeah, and yeah, oh yeah." And the father said, "Tomorrow I have to go to work. Please, can I sleep in the other room?" The mother said, "Yes." This is also guru. All are the guru means the teachers are our good ones, this and then that guru, the spiritualities, and that and that further. And this is this always. We should go on that path after you will hundred. Perhaps you will know that in your life now, everything, why did I have lost or not? My body cannot control me, I don't know, and one after hand. So it is, when my mother, when my mother gave me, then you know your hand, how was. It is our hands. It was like this, and then we brought the baby out, and we pulled out like this. No, yeah, it was with mother's inside. And when you die, whatever you got, your mother has given you. Two and many, many things you have, you got. "It's mine, it's my house, my money, my this." By this, but when they will come and say, "Oh my God, I can't. We cannot hold on like this. Go." That time, that you cannot anymore, my fist, I've opened everything. Give me you. That's all. Yes. Say we know when I die, I give everything, and what about my ātmā, my soul? This and with which, what happened at that time? That is this, and so we should be humble, kind, not killing anyone, very much so. Today's... I did not know what I would speak today, and you know that when I come to my place, this is the place of the gurus. And the gurus have said, "Sit here and tell what it is." And it gives me... ideally, I did not talk about this. But you are, you have listened, I listened, thank you. And if something, you can give me some things, I will tell you. So, let go. All we are together, doesn't matter you are in this country and I am in that country. Father is there, mother is there, sister is there. There, brother is there, in this sense, okay, yes. But be there in that humbleness on this side, my friend, my this, my this. Then it will go with me, or with you, or this. So our path is then all, but one will go to the other side like this, and the other will go like that. This all we cannot go. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīpa Nārāyaṇa. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhu Dīpa Nārāyaṇa. Śrīdīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānakī. So everywhere, go, then women, old or not, we see. When we are younger, then we see a sister, like this. When we are old, we see our mother, or this, or a friend, good, like this. And so, there are many yogīs, many gurus, many yoga centers. But real ashrams, that is called ashrams, and there are many. They are very good places, and when they are there, we can learn from them. We can look to them, but you have to come again back to your guru. You come to your house like a bird after that. It comes in the nest, that is, that we have to be in that way. And science, yoga, and spiritualities, it is in every direction. Why I come from this side? Others, upcoming, others coming from this side, they have a car, very good. Others have other cars. They have no road like this, but then we all came together. We were with us. Yes, we are with us. Hari Om. Deep Nayan Bhagwan ki, Dev Puruṣa Mahādeva ki, Madhvanājī Bhagavān ki, Satya Sanātana Dharma ki Jai. Om Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ...
