The forms of God

A spiritual discourse on the journey of the soul and the nature of divinity.

"Bhagavān does not remain confined to any one place. Bhagavān Rāma also departed; He too left. But the name is of Bhagavān, is it not?"

"The ātman does not say, 'I am Hindu,' or 'I am Muslim,' or 'I am this,' or 'I am that.' The ātman is one and the same."

The speaker delivers a wide-ranging monologue, contemplating the evolution of human consciousness, the appearance of divine figures like Rama and Krishna, and the eternal nature of the soul. Key themes include the critique of meat-eating and alcohol, the oneness of the self (ātman) beyond religious labels, and a call to return to the principles of Sanātana Dharma. The talk uses metaphors of water cycles and seeds to illustrate spiritual concepts and concludes with a devotional prayer.

Jay Dev Puruṣa Mahādeva, Jay Sat Sanātana Vākya, Jay Om Śānti hi Śānti hi... In this world, the Earth is the mother. Within her, there exist countless types of living beings. A living being gives and a living being takes; that is its nature. These beings know nothing else; they know only to eat, sleep, and move on. We continually try to consume them or act upon them. It is said they keep killing each other repeatedly. The question arises: how long will we continue like this before turning to Paraparam Paramātmā Bhagavān? It is said that humans had taken human form, yet they did not possess jñāna within; they were like animals. Those early humans were small, walking low in the forests, not even knowing what to eat or how. As they evolved, the human mind began to gain knowledge. They saw, "Oh Rāma, Bhagavān has revealed how and what to do." Our land, whose name 'India' came later, once stretched to its greatest extent from its center—our Hindu territory—all the way to Australia and into Europe. Yet, even in those far lands, they did not receive that teaching. Bhagavān Rāma accomplished much in that time. He awakened so much, and if you look, you will see many great nations established in His name even now. Yet, gradually, we changed. Many people became sorrowful. Others who worship Bhagavān Rāma, take His name, and have built large houses or temples. After that, there is Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa as well; He too acted. But when Bhagavān comes in human form, they are aware of it, yet they do not live up to the stature of a human being. Some simply cannot understand. Others who do understand ask: how many Bhagavāns have we had? Many from other countries as well—they show that this is our Bhagavān, that is their Bhagavān. There is only one, and right now, each has grasped that one. We had the darśana and understood that you are Bhagavān. And that Bhagavān who is—then see that all the others, Christians and Muslims—Muslims only call Him Allāh, and there is no one else besides Allāh, and Christians have their own distinct beliefs. By doing this... they remain there, but they are alive; they are indeed alive. Should we consider that the one who is alive is Bhagavān? But Bhagavān does not remain confined to any one place. Bhagavān Rāma also departed; He too left. But the name is of Bhagavān, is it not? That Bhagavān is still present—Bhagavān Rāma, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa, and so on. We have not seen their physical bodies, but when we come to the temple or build a temple, how many idols of Bhagavān do we make! Many idols indeed. Many good people have come here, wearing different kinds of clothes—that is just like children playing. But where is that Paramātmā, Bhagavān? So, regarding Brahma and Paramātmā, consider that water is water. From there, it becomes steam, heated water rising upwards. It goes and becomes a complete cloud. Now look inside it; we go inside it too. Now you are also going. I have gone many times. When we travel by airplane, it flies in the sky, does it not? So, when it goes there, it becomes like a cloud, and when they go inside it, they have no idea what it is like. The water below, and in between, all the beans come, small and then become big again, coming from above and below closely. All of that comes and then forms into something big, falls down like water, and then merges into it. Then again, from that very particle, the entire ocean is formed; it enters the ocean and emerges from the ocean, and all is within that same ocean. Now, within it, whatever has come—how and what has come—is like a small drop that comes from the sky. The tree—what it is, it also sprouts, does it not? Just increase it a little bit. If someone says it’s just a seed, well, it is a seed, a small one. Now, give it a little oil for nourishment. It’s a small seed, but when the water comes, when the rain comes, then it grows into a plant, does it not? It becomes a plant. It goes, and by going into it, how many seeds of experience are gathered within. But in the same way, all other animals or whatever exists, even the trees, and the beings inside the seeds—all these living beings are moving everywhere, and sooner or later, they too will go to Bhagavān. O humans, now I see that yes, something like this has happened. Now what has happened is that they say, "What will you do if you start eating meat and drinking alcohol?" This means, "Go back, go with the insects." No matter what you do, once you start eating meat, then you have to go to those countries. Not even one country, but where these foreign people took our countrymen. They said they would do good work, give money, and take people far away from here. Many people were taken there, given something, and then left. What were they doing? They were bringing something dirty, not good. They were not bringing the good; it was dirty, was it not? What was that? They left after doing it, cutting and all, and gave a small piece of cloth. The boy came to take it, the woman came to take it, but there wasn’t even a single house built. They said, "Go sleep, work," and those who had come for others used to sit on their heels and polish the leather. Work, yes. The places where people used to throw dates into the water are still there, but those people who are there now, compared to us, they are still good—they practice dharma and do everything. Many are here, but even there, there is much suffering in various places. The world gives pain both near and far. Those who have not consumed alcohol yet, they had already left our India. We, with so much affection, they have no idea where my village is, when it was, what it is. Whenever I go there, they say, "Gurujī, my..." Where the village would be, what had happened, what would happen, how many years had passed—so, of Paramātmā, they say that we belong to Paramātmā, to Bhagavān. That place was where he was, and the man there was a sādhu. He had become a sādhu there, and the sādhu was probably around 40 or 400 years old, coming close to that. I had gone there, so my mother’s circle... So that Mahārāj Jī voted and made me sit above. I said, no no, you are old, I will take care of it. No, you sit. I said, no, you are old, not me. If a goat is eaten, then that goat must be eaten; however many goats are eaten, the gift is that those goats become the food, and if a fish is eaten, then that fish becomes the food. In other words, when a human eats a living being, living beings consume other living beings; thus, whatever living being is consumed... Live as they lived, sit as they sat, do as they did—whether they ate pigeon or another bird, whatever they ate, you must do the same. Live like that, sit like that. Look at the living being, see the living being. You made me, so look at us. In our country, we did not eat much meat at all, very little indeed, and this... Now, I do not know what exactly is happening inside our country, how things are unfolding. I have become confused, it has become like this, so I am telling you, how long will you remain like this? Then you will have to face consequences. Yes, and this is why, within our India, this is our Sanātana Dharma. What happens is that we do not eat animals there; all those beings are indeed living, and they will depart, but in the court of Bhagavān, no animal is killed, no one is killed, no one is harmed. Whatever I am, I have become a sādhu, and whether I am 20 years old or 80 years old, if I feel that I should not do my own work, but do someone else’s work, then that means I am completely lost. Because as long as our body remains, what time do we have? Two or three months, two or three days, two or three hours. When a being is about to depart, it is told that now you are this human, you are human, now you will merge into Paramātmā. But if the doer abandons in between, then there is great suffering. This is one thing. Another is that someone says, "I am," and the other says, "He is," and the first says, "I am He." There is no distinction between I and He. It is the water of the ocean, and it comes back from above, drop by drop. See, the fire has come; observe where it will call the water from. So, it called from the well, then went to the sand, but it is still there—it has come again and will go somewhere else. This is because when the soul leaves the body, all the water returns back to water, and there it comes. That this one has gone and that one has gone—bodies go, do they not? The jīva goes, does it not? Our ātman goes not. The ātman does not say, "I am Hindu," or "I am Muslim," or "I am this," or "I am that." The ātman is one and the same. As long as we are alive, this is what we will say. I am like this, they will say I am like this, keep doing this, keep going on, but when it creates, no one can stop you, never can stop you. And how it goes is like this—just as soon as there is a janewar, for whom, pee pee tee tee... No, it does not shine; it is simply placed inside. If a bird is a parrot, it remains a parrot, but it has been put inside a cage. And it is said that Mahāprabhujī is removing the affliction, Mahāprabhujī is removing the affliction, but He says to the children, "What can I do? If you have suffered pain a few times, then even now He is doing it for you, or else, if you open it up, it will be resolved, and it will be better. But still, we all... He will go only when it is time for him to go." Now, where that subtle body will go, no one knows, no one can see. And when it leaves the body, it is gone completely, nowhere to be found. Some say it has gone somewhere, some say it has come back, some say someone has died. It is taken to the cremation ground, and then it is gone, and the space remains. They neither did anything nor criticized anything, and whatever they did, it was like this: if the master is to be honored, then one must go through a bath of discipline and purification. That is the atmosphere, and that is the essence. Look, brother, just accept this—this entire universe... The ones we consider truly good within us are our own selves, and it is from them that we will proceed. So, for your own body and for your children, always tell them, educate them, sit with them, and always say "mumi," not "mami" or "mami." "Mumi" is the correct term; what is "mami"? Mother said, "Father, father, what sin is that? That is not a sin. Tell Mahāprabhujī, brother, it is good. Muslim, Muslim—no one calls anyone that. They create that; it belongs to them, and they take only what is theirs. And what was the other thing? This has happened here, this is certain. And the other, what was that? That is not a 'mem'." And no one says that they give now. Ma’am, please, can you give? Someone says, “Ma’am, Ma’am,” so Ma’am, please come down, Ma’am come down. Who is Ma’am? None of them even know who Ma’am is. And Ma’am is actually the husband, her husband, and that husband’s... Ma’am, this is it. If someone calls us "hang jo," some will say "madam," and the brother will say "madam." How many madams were scolding us? Just look carefully, there is indeed a madam, but she has only one leaf. But how are you doing this? Just by saying it, it becomes clear that madam Amit Praveś, only Praveś, madam Odām Deyā. You see, we do not really know this, do we? In Sanskrit, there is such a beautiful name. What is to be done, what should we say? Mā says this, it happens, it is kākī, so what has kākī done? Therefore, now you do something; surely you must have done something good. And if every day, somewhere or the other, you haven’t been eaten by a fly, stopped by a goat, stopped by a dog, or caught by some trap, it does happen, but see, once, you will have to go there. Yes, you will die, you will burn, you will be cremated. In that, the taloba leaf moves; it is not crooked or bent, but it moves forward. The water does not return to the ocean; it will come back to the dirt. When it reaches the sacred Gaṅgā, it takes another turn. So, O human, O mankind, from today say, "O Lord, I have never heard this before, never. Now that I have done it, please forgive me, forgive me..." So it is possible that something might happen, so that matter went there. There, it was said—Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. This is about Fiji. Vapi is very large there; it is mountainous, yes, and there is plenty of sugarcane. It is the most prosperous, is it not? That is the place, right? And that very place. What is it, tell me? Yes, I had gone. I was a disciple of Māre Theng. I sat in many places; I did not go many times. I have been to many countries. We are not doing it now; they say that the mind should remain distant in the clouds. Look, in India, they do it; they believe in it. So what has been done to the jīva? If it has been done, then just worship. Worship, O Bhagavān, forgive me, forgive me. Then, sooner or later, it will surely happen. Subscribe, subscribe... Subscribe, subscribe, subscribe. So, do you drink it? Then why? Okay, do you drink or not? No, tell me, okay? Alright, that is there, but we have no one; if that is there, then who is the one? Those people have come to take us away; they belong to another village. Our ancestors are different—they come and drink it. What does our government say? It says that every household there must do this. Omnamasī Prabhudīpanārāya. We are all servants, surrendered to the Lord, completely devoted to the Lord. We have no other refuge but the Lord alone. The divine light of Śrī Bhagavān has been bestowed upon us, given by the great Lord Mahādeva. Mādhvānaṅjī, Bhagavān’s true eternal dharma, the revered Gurudev who is like a mother and father—Om śānti, śānti, śānti.
