Water Is Life

A spiritual discourse on the sacred and essential nature of water.

"Where there is water, there is God. Where there is God, there is water."

"Water is life, inside and out... In the whole body, in all thoughts and feelings, it drips, tears come."

A spiritual teacher addresses an assembly, expounding on water as the divine essence of life. He describes its presence in the five elements, the human body, emotions, and the natural cycle of rain and humidity. He laments modern pollution but affirms water's inherent, purifying life force, connecting it to breath and spiritual practice.

Oṁ śānti, śānti. All my dear friends, from all my yoga centers and from other countries, it is beautifully given what we have to speak. This is very beautiful, good, and it is reality. It is said: "Jal jahan jagadīś." This means: where there is water, there is God. Where there is God, there is water. Jagadīś, Bhagavān, God. Where there is no water, there is nothing. But where there is water, everything is there. Water is in the water, on the earth, in all trees and grass, in the air, and in our whole body. These are the five elements, and among them, the first one is water. Water, the liquid—how we use it, our feelings, etc. Water is life, inside and out. And how the water gives to us, how we feel ourselves, is from both sides. Someone is very sad, extremely sad. How and where? From both our eyes, water is tearing—these tears are water. In the whole body, in all thoughts and feelings, it drips, tears come. Or also, tears come from the eyes with happiness, joy—the more happy we are. Even from our eyes, the droppings—how it is. This water is present in both this condition and that condition. If we cannot drink water, then our body will not be good and will become diseased. If we sit in our room or somewhere, even outside, there is also water. When we inhale, humidity goes through the nostrils. Our body, in each and every nerve system—what is running there? It is like water. We speak of blood, but blood is that with water. Otherwise, it will not go. Finished. Hari Oṁ. In this, our ocean—many of us are water. This ocean, if it is not there, finished. And from the ocean, the ocean is salty. If there is no salt, everything will be gone. That is very important: the salt and water. In humidity, this water comes. It rises very high and in the space becomes the clouds. The whole clouds are only water, nothing else. Of course, air is there. And when it is raining, how beautifully sweet water comes. Clear water comes—of course, where we humans have destroyed many things. That water comes, even if the ground is very hard, or trees, or some place with only sand. But in that sand, when the sun goes, in the day and night, humidity comes. It comes to little, little grass. That is the water, too. And the aeroplanes—when they go without that water, we cannot go there. Water, water is life. Life is the water. And so, in yogīs, yogīs are getting this water through inhaling and exhaling, making praṇām. And this prāṇam with the nostrils. They are making this from both hemispheres. It comes from both navels, one time this side and one time this side. Life, life is the life. But now we have destroyed very much with chemicals. All waters—the rivers, the ponds, and everywhere—are not drinkable. You know, before that, about 50 years before, we were going to the ocean, to the rivers, and we were drinking water. We were swimming in that, and now we cannot. We humans are destroying everything. But it is still the water which is going. It will purify the water again and bring it in the heat. It brings it up again, comes the purity. Consider this. We humans, what we call living here—this is a water inside. Without water, nothing. Many people are thinking. They go to the moon, and on the moon they say they do not see water. They are in the air; they just go like this only because there is no water. Water will let us bring in the bed. So water is in all our five elements. Animals—they are also eating something, and from what they drink, eating the animals—they have blood or the water in each other. That is also for us. But we say, and what many in Europe said: "Water is life," and that life is like that. Tears from the eyes, tears from the nostrils. Heavy from the mouth, everything. Therefore, let us bring good inhale and exhale. When we inhale, we bring the water inside. Immediately, we bring the same also out, warm, cleaning this and going. If we do not have our nostrils, we cannot live; we will die. So everyone said. Buddha, a devotee—water is the water. My dears, our whole body is mostly inside the water. And when that water goes, we are completely squished, completely emblazoned. So, water is the great. Without water, we cannot live at all. In each and every part of our bodies, in our skin and flesh and everything, this is the water. Water is the life, and that life is the water. Thank you very much, my dears. Give the peace and clean inside. Regard how: what do we bring the water and clean ourselves from? Bring the water and our... First, we dress how we are, clothing. We bring the water and clean our clothes and everything. When we go, if we have no water in earth, in the air, we cannot go. Once, it was something that Hanumānjī fell down there, and there was no water and nothing else, so he had fallen down. Then again, he brought the water, and Hanumānjī was gone again. So, in many things, water is our water. Everywhere, in each and every cell of our bodies, is the water stream. Water is for everyone: for animals, for humans, for the grass, the trees, etc. This is the life we... Are on this life? And in this life, we are living with the water. All the best, my dears. Thank you. Hari Oṁ. Water, Bodā Ajevot, Boda Ajevot, Jal Hi Jagadīś, Jal Hi Jagadīś Bhagavān, God—that is the God. Thank you. Hari Oṁ.
