Pilgrimage to Himalaya 2018

The pilgrimage follows the path of the Pāṇḍavas toward heaven, beginning from Badrinath. The rivers Alaka and Nanda join at Manā to form the Alaknandā. The landscape holds the story of Arjuna's bow, where water sprang for Yudhiṣṭhira. The route passes Sahasradhara and Cakra Tīrtha, where each Pāṇḍava but Yudhiṣṭhira perished. The Satopan Glacier is receding, revealing moraines. The mountain ranges—Alakhpurījī, Nārāyaṅ Parvat, Nīlakaṇṭha, and Satopan—connect toward Svarga Rohini. This is the sacred geography where the Siddhis manifested.

"When you look at this larger rock formation shaped like a bow, that is called Arjuna’s bow."

"Only Yudhiṣṭhira passed the Cakra Tīrtha... He alone proceeded to Satopanth and further to Swāgarohiṇī."

Śrī Alakhpurījī āv, Sattva Guru Alakhpurījī āv. Bhaktōṁ kī āśāṁpūrā, Sattva Guru Alakhpurījī āv. Manā is the last village before you begin your pilgrimage towards Alakhpurījī Gufā, Devpurījī Gufā, and further to Swāgarohiṇī. The Nanda River, flowing from the Satopan Glacier, meets the Alaka River, which originates from the Alka Puri Mountain. They join here to form the Alaknandā for the first time. The Alaknandā flows through Badrīnāth down to Devaprayāg, where it joins the Bhāgīrathī; thereafter, the river is known as Gaṅgā. Śivāya Namaḥ. Śivāya Namaḥ. I show you Arjuna’s bow. When you look at this larger rock formation shaped like a bow, that is called Arjuna’s bow. The story is that the Pāṇḍavas were on their way to Swargārohiṇī. As they passed here, Yudhiṣṭhira was very thirsty. Arjuna took his bow, shot an arrow into the earth, and water sprang forth so Yudhiṣṭhira could drink. This is the story of Arjuna’s bow. On the top of this brown hill is the entrance to Satopan, at 4,200 meters, and the lake. Above this beautiful mountain, all are Satopan mountains. At the top, you see the north side of Nīlakaṇṭha mountain; the other side goes to Badrinath. Below the rocks you see there, the entire rock face is Sahasradhara, the thousand waterfalls. Beyond that, you see the large glacier of Nīlakaṇṭha Mountain. We are traveling the path of the five Pāṇḍavas, who all sought to reach heaven. We started from Badrinath, as they did. First, Draupadī died due to the harsh conditions—glaciers, snow, and rocks. She died not long after the village of Manā. Next, the twins Nakula and Sahadeva died in Ānandavana, which is before Lakṣmīvana. Then we come to Sahastradhara, the thousand waterfalls, which are now behind us. There, Bhīma, the giant among the Pāṇḍavas, died. Only Arjuna and Yudhiṣṭhira reached Cakra Tīrtha. But there, Arjuna also gave up his life. Only Yudhiṣṭhira passed the Cakra Tīrtha, which you see at the far end here. This is the top; one must cross this. He alone proceeded to Satopanth and further to Swāgarohiṇī. We are sitting here on the 9th mountain of Satopanth Lake, with a beautiful panorama. Behind us is Vaikuṇṭha Mountain, a wonderful mountain with three peaks that extends very far down until it joins the Bhagirathi Glacier. Below here, you can see the Satopan Glacier, which now has many moraines because the glaciers are melting. The entire glacier has receded hundreds of meters, unfortunately, and the mountain is similarly affected. Now, where I direct your attention, you see at the top the Alakhpurījī glacier. You can see many peaks on the side, resembling a crown. Then we follow the line coming to Nārāyaṅ Parvat, which starts in Badrināth. Narayan Parvat connects immediately to the Nilkanth peak you see above. Then comes this entire range; here are the Satopan mountains, above which, by Satopan lake, is Parvati mountain. Further on, all mountains join towards Svarga Rohini. Siddhapurījī, Śrī Devpurījī, Śrī Devpurījī... I have not fulfilled all that should be done, but at least I have come to this route where we are. In this context, I also want to tell you that our dear Swami Shantījī, who was nearly 12 or 13 years old, was running here and there. And there, she found that exact place where the Ālakhpurījī and the Devpurījī Siddhis all came from, near Swarag Rohinī, and so on. So, my dear ones, you are very fortunate. I bless you in the name of Alakhpurījī, Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī, and our Satguru Swami Madhavānandajī Bhagavān.
