Advice for practising Anusthan

A satsang on establishing daily spiritual practice (sādhanā) and discipline.

"Holy Gurujī said, 'You can eat three times, but have nothing except water in between.'"

"The best time is early morning. Practice for twenty-five minutes, only once. Do not do two practices in one day."

The lecturer addresses participants of a seminar, giving practical guidance for integrating practice into daily life. He emphasizes moderation in eating, the importance of a consistent morning meditation routine, and previews a technique involving concentration on three points (forehead, chest, navel) to be taught the following day. The talk includes administrative notes and gentle humor.

Śrīdīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya. Devādhi Deva, Deva Purīṣa, Mahādeva Kī, Madhvanānjī Bhagavān Kī, Alak Purījī Mahādeva Kī, Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī, Māta Pitā Gurudeva Kī, Oṁ Śānti, Śānti, Śānti Kī Jaya. Now we have programs. How many of you are engaged in sādhanā here in this seminar? First, let us clarify our practice. Who is coming this year? Please indicate. Thank you. Niranjana, please come here. How many participants are there for this? Over how many days? Please raise your hands again. Thank you. Whenever you come, make this your place. Begin from this month. How many are present? One, two, three, four, five, six, nine. Our seven brothers will have a session for half an hour or one hour. You should instruct them fully on how, where, and what to do. There are 123 people registered for Anuṣṭhāna. I know how many are there, but who is coming first to this program? He will take good care of you, even though he has many other commitments. This is very good. We are happy. Please check how many they are and see what they are doing. Are you practicing half of yoga? What are they doing, like me? This year, if they cannot, we will set it aside. It is important not to eat too much. If you eat one kilo, reduce it to only one cup. Then you will feel relaxed and well. Otherwise, you will not have control. Therefore, everyone should sit in one place. You must stay, sit, and meditate like this. After eating, all of you should walk from here to there across the whole area, twice. How long does that take? Half an hour? So then, twice. Afterwards, lie down, drink something like coffee, and then go to class. Do you understand? If you have something to drink with you, take some coffee or tea. Is there something sweet or similar beside you so you can drink or eat a little? Many people do things differently. That is acceptable because you are not practicing the whole year. Now I will give you a practice you can do the whole year, but not all day. There is one program I will give you. Yes? Practice this every day. Then you can come here for the whole day and practice very nicely. If you practice your anuṣṭhāna intensely, your husband might tell you to remain in the strelka (household duties) and not come with him again. That is why I tell you it is not a whole-day practice. But when we come here for one week or two weeks, that is perfectly fine and very good. There is another practice that is very important. Those who are practicing this, we will do it tomorrow. It is not just a technique; it involves our inner being. This practice continues from start to finish. This is what I told you today. For those not going there, there is still a practice. What is that? Yes, Kriyānuṣṭhāna. That too is very important and good. You must learn it, and it will be great. We are progressing very well. Who are you? We have made techniques, so you all come, and one day I will explain everything. This practice takes about half an hour. If you can do a little more, that is very good. If you can do it for one hour, do it early in the morning so you do not trouble others in your house. Early morning is very nice and beautiful. Sleep a little earlier. Of course, many of you are workers. You know about our commitments, which is why we come for one month or two months. Tomorrow will be for those who are not going for sādhanā there, but here. We will practice there again. Practice with them; it is very nice, and it will integrate into your home life. The best time is early morning. Some sleep or work at night and are free early in the morning. Practice for twenty-five minutes, only once. Do not do two practices in one day. This is a very powerful energy that affects many things in our body. It is also preventative; many diseases will not come. You will feel it; you will not get anything. Also, consider our food. How are we eating? People working in the city, in schools, or elsewhere, they eat more. Farmers working on the farm go early, eat and drink, then come for lunch after midday, and again in the evening. And us? How much do we eat? Let me see. You drink tea in the morning and come here. Some eat and then go out. Others will eat salad, coffee, from the cafeteria. This means we are eating over a long period. Holy Gurujī said, "You can eat three times, but have nothing except water in between." Then you will see you will not have so many ailments. You will not tire, and many things will not accumulate poorly in the stomach. Try to do it like this. Some people have very little work and may eat nothing, maybe just a little water, but they have to work all the time. That is good. Now, when you come here, how many times do you try to eat something in a whole day? Even when walking, there is something to consume. This is the point. That is why yogic practice is different. You know that we have this from Ālag Purījī, then it came to Dev Purījī. It was given from Devapurījī to Mahāprabhujī, Devapurījī, and then from Mahāprabhujī to Devapurījī. When Mahāpurījī was in the ashram in Barikattu, he said, "Only eat a little and drink little water. Air is good." Now, in these times, we begin to create disease. Who creates this? They condition people in such a way that diseases are made. But how? When did it increase in the modern world? You know it was a little after the introduction of rubber, yes? Chewing gum. Chewing gum means chewing. It came from Italy, from America, from the other side. Not America, from the Matajis. From China. Yes, from Kailāsa. From China, Kailash. How many people were there? Everyone had some. For how many years? Do you know? And still, some are still taking it. This means they cannot eat it, but they bite, bite, bite... That was not healthy. Many have left it, but many remain. After that, something different was introduced again, and that is not good. That is why we are very ill, and it affects our entire body. But many people are very good; they do not eat like that and only consume at the right times—water, lunch, etc. That is all. So, the first thing is to learn self-discipline. Please also take care of your eating, where it goes in. You can eat, but only once. Farmers and ladies work the whole day. Others do not, and we all have diseases inside. This is for our yoga in daily life. In this, we should practice once an hour. This practice comes from Mahāprabhujī's or Holy Gurujī's home. You look towards him, close your eyes, and try to see, imagine Mahāprabhujī, or Holy Gurujī, or Devapurījī—whomever you prefer. We have to focus on three points. This is very good if you can do it, and it will continue for your whole life. One point is here (forehead), here in the chest, or in the navel. Only these three. From here to here, or to here. It may take you one month, two months, three months, or one year to learn where to bring your concentration. Somebody once said to her husband, "I cannot work. I am always thinking about my girl the whole day. I am working, but not all the time. I am thinking of that girl." He is always thinking about her. That means you neither work properly nor focus on the other side. You do not do your job, nor do you do the other thing. Women do not do it like that because they do not have that tendency. Do you understand? You must learn properly. You see, men are good because they are hard. They always say the man is great. Můj je veliký a ženy jsou pokorné. A proč? Kvůli dětem. Musím jít domů, musím uvařit pro manžela. Takže ženy jsou také skvělé. So, always be at such a point. I mean, I told you it might take one week, one month, two months, three months, or one year. Have you learned the techniques you prefer? Then you will meditate very profoundly. In this technique, if you have not learned, you should learn. It is not twenty minutes or so. Tomorrow I will give you all the guidance. Those who have not learned will come inside and sit, thinking, "Yes, I am good." Okay, tomorrow. What are the other aspects for yoga citta? How will it be there? Do not take it inside. Okay? Chūṅgī is also a kind of Chūṅgī. But it is a little better, at least, because I took it for myself. But there is something when it is something. So, these are the two people. Tomorrow you will give the lecture with him. For others, I will tell you at 7 o'clock. Six-thirty, six, seven o'clock. From there, it may be a little distant because I have many things to do. We will see how long and how many we are, and try to cover everything, but then you must practice. It is very, very good. So, tomorrow, would you like to come? All heads up. Oh, I see. Okay, there was someone who was doing it, but once in a while ate meat. That is not good. Then you can go to rabbits. Go and see the rabbit and eat. Okay? Do you know how many rabbits are here? In my rooms, very many. Yes, a very nice picture. It looks nice. If you have done this technique today, he is going there, and others are coming here, we will do it here. Those who will go to work should go to work. That was one point regarding sādhanā. Tomorrow I will give you another. That is what you will learn. Afterwards, it will be the best for you regarding that technique. Sādhanā is what you are doing. We cannot always come at the right time because on the way someone says, "Swāmījī, please, this, this, that," so it can be a ten-minute delay. It is said a professor coming for a lecture is five minutes late. Yes? Fifteen. Fifteen. Yes, because fifteen, because he lost his wife quickly to bring something. So, I may also be a little early or late, but tomorrow we will do it. How many are you, please? Anuṣṭhāna. It is not Anuṣṭhāna. If you are in Anuṣṭhāna, you will not go. Okay, otherwise, when you go to my class tomorrow, he will go there and will not call you back the next day for his practice. Because Niranjan is great in the highest technique. If you go down there, then we will tell you to go. One year Swāmījī comes, that is all. So, let us truly learn these techniques. I will talk to you. Last year many people were not there when I talked about the heart, the nāḍī, and from further up. These three points will be addressed tomorrow. Or what do you think? I will go tomorrow for the other practice with people, to see how we are. Do you know how I can tell how someone is sleeping? He is coming from Slovakia. He is my teacher there all the time. Yes, every year he goes like that, so this is not good. Give him something to drink so he will not be like this. Very nice water. Please, if we practice, we should not make it overly long. These were the two things. Thank you very much. Others will come for other techniques. Then I will go to the vegetables also and ask them. I will take something. I will give you something. I will take it in my pocket—vegetables, very nice vegetables. I think, my dears, we should all really eat our grass and everything. You see we have such air as nowhere else. All water comes from anywhere; from all, it goes to the other side. It comes from the far end on this side, goes under the wall well, and goes out. From the other side, it goes there. From here, is water coming? Is it good water? It is truly drinkable. Very nice. In our ashram, I do not know if someone drinks sometimes. Yes, sometimes they are here, sleeping and drinking... Many people drink alcohol. They do not make problems, but something, I do not know. Our ashram is truly such that even if you do not want, we can only have beautiful and good grace, and everything very nice. Thank you. Tomorrow you are going first there. For all my people, they will sit here. I wanted to put you somewhere there, but you are too many, so we will be here. You know which is the blink? What is that? Yes, tennis. So that is very nice; then we are peaceful. It is very nice, really. We need not have coronaviruses inside. All Corona is upstairs. You see? White in the green. What? The clouds. Clouds, yes. You know that clouds are very nice and clean. So tomorrow, please, I think so many people can sit there so you can learn properly. Okay? Thank you. Tomorrow, those who are going will go there. Okay? I am asking, at what time will this be? Up to four o'clock. Four o'clock. So, when we come here, we practice. Ten o'clock? Ten o'clock? Ten, ten-thirty? What? So the time of the morning program? Yes, morning, 7 o'clock. So, will it be at the time of your morning lecture? No, because too many people are coming and going. Yes, we can do all that, but we will go there. That is it. It is very nice. Will you look at Manjī? It is good that he is sitting there. If there is no rain, we sit in the big hall. Now, people who always go to the lecture and sleep, we will not give them because if one sleeps, others also sleep. The best techniques are for those who can stay awake. Then I have the best, highest technique. Yes, that is the highest technique. With respect, love, good. In the garden. Yes, the vegetable garden. There you can say your mantra. Because otherwise, others are sleeping and they are not right. Okay? Really, okay? Now, today, how will you have your techniques and sleeping, okay? Maybe two times I was coming in there, and I was sitting also, and then I went out, and they did not know. Now, all who have money at home, they will sleep and everything is gone. Busy. Adios.
