Prasad is given to us by God

The spiritual lineage and duty of the disciple are paramount. The ashram is a rare blessing established by a saint's presence. Statues here are not mere memorials but living embodiments through sacred consecration. The paramparā's strength must be carried forward with respect and devotion. The master is an example of spiritual achievement, ready to give everything. The disciple must be willing to receive and practice. The master's strictness is rooted in love to cut attachments to illusion. Their legacy is contained in sacred song and mantra. One realized word contains the entire universe. It is now the responsibility to nurture this growing tradition and support the Guru's vision to completion.

"Practice your mālā, because in your mantra, even only one word contains the seed of the whole universe."

"The master is ready to give everything. If we cannot eat properly, we have our plate in front of us; we have to eat ourselves."

Filming location: Vienna, Austria

Once upon a time, two parrots were sitting on one tree. They were talking to each other. The male one, Meṇā, said to the female, Suā, "My dear one, my darling, listen to me carefully. Listen, you shouldn’t talk; you should enjoy. Meditate and sing the name of God. But what you are talking is nonsense. You are flying from one branch to another, and in your heart, you are eating the fruits of passion. These fruits are poisonous. Who knows what will happen in one second? Maybe death will take you away. Listen, oh my dear, concentrate on the name of God. Don’t fly here and there. You enjoy and are full of ego, full of pride. You are moving, but these enjoyments are like a fata morgana. We know what that is, no? In the desert, you think there is water, but it is not water. It is a mirage. Yes, listen, my darling, this juice which you enjoy is not real. When we fly away from this garden, who knows if we will meet again? As Swāmījī always says, the leaf of a tree falls down and the wind blows it away. That leaf will not come back to the same tree. Therefore, you should repeat the mantra of sohaṁ sohaṁ and keep the world behind you. Do not turn towards māyā; keep your back towards māyā and your face forward towards reality. Mahāprabhujī says, 'Therefore, Gurudev gives you the satsaṅg, and this satsaṅg is the tree of immortality.' This tree also gives the fruits of immortality." Then she said, "Wait, wait... wait. Listen, oh my dear one, listen. You listen carefully. You should repeat the mantra 'sohaṁ.' You have your own tongue to repeat it, and it doesn’t cost you money. You should repeat it. Don’t tell me you also have a tongue, and you know that death is like a cat waiting behind. He will finish you in one second. You will see him chewing your skin and everything. You should take advantage of the time. Get up every day and meditate, O Suā. Don’t be so lazy. This garden of the world will one day dry up. Everything will dry. Oṁ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ..." Sunorimena tumhari bachalavatu, tasara nijayahi jagakara parasabhaju, tāra tāra pāra pīre pātā kāti gātā viṣye balakāi... First and foremost, my respect and adoration to our Guru Paramparā, Śrī Alakpurījī Siddhārthit, our dear Gurudev, Viśva Gurujī, Svāmī Hṛdayakamal, Svāmī Umāpurī, and all friends. It is pleasant and joyful to be here again after such a long time in Vienna, in the ashram. It is always joyful when I come to Vienna, especially to our original ashram in Schikanedergasse. I have a question for you all. You may answer yourself, if not now, or you may think about it. Actually, why did you come? For what reason did you come today or yesterday? This is a huge blessing, this ashram. It is a blessing for every one of us. It is a blessing for Vienna. It is a blessing for Austria because it is very rare that a saint comes, establishes an ashram, and blesses the place through his personal appearance. I remember the time in Schikanedergasse in the beginning of the 80s, 90s. If you look back and if you look now, what really changed is one thing. We do have the images, the mūrtis of our beloved Paramparā here: Śrī Dībnerā Mahāprabhujī, Śrī Svāmī Madhavānandjī, Satgurujī. Under normal circumstances in this world, people who have great achievement in life, who made a significant change in the world for people, for its upliftment or for the improvement of life standards or for health reasons or in medicine—society dedicates a statue to them. But this is completely different. In our case, this is not an achievement in the outer world, but an achievement that gives an example for all of us. What really counts is that these statues, these mūrtis, have a special meaning for every one of us. It is not just an image of name and form, but it is a living example because these statues have been initiated with a certain dedication and with a certain pūjā. In this ceremony, we call it Prāṇa Pradiṣṭhā. Life has been given to them in this statue. Many people in India, when I met them, say, "Oh, look, our statue is breathing; they are alive." We really have to thank our Viśva Gurujī for taking up such a task and bringing this prāṇa into the statues, into the mūrtis, and into this whole āśram. So again, think: what attracts you here, to come here today? I was with Viśva Gurujī in his flat, and there was a nice picture of Holy Gurujī. We were talking a little, and Viśva Gurujī explained to me where this picture was taken, and I remembered. It is exactly that picture which I had first seen and first heard about Gurujī. It was in 1982. Viśva Gurujī was coming regularly to Salzburg, giving seminars. At Christmas time, he brought a small folding picture, and there was this picture of Holy Gurujī. My first thought when I saw it was, "This person, this personality, I want to meet." Soon afterwards, Swāmījī invited us for a journey to India, a group journey. I don’t know if some of you were on this journey in 1982. Many of the disciples are unfortunately not with us anymore. There we met Gurujī for the first time in Jaipur, at the ashram. It was very small, not really in the city; it was outside. Not even a proper wall was around it. We came, and there were only two or three rooms, a small hall, and Holy Gurujī’s room. At that time, Viśva Gurujī was travelling with us, and Holy Gurujī was also travelling with us within the bus. We had a very interesting journey around Rajasthan, to the different bhaktas in Jodhpur, Pali, up to Jaisalmer. There are many, many stories to be told. But I would like to tell a little bit about Holy Gurujī, my impressions. I am very grateful to Viśva Gurujī that he gave me the opportunity to be with Holy Gurujī in his sevā for a certain time and to take care of his ashram in Jaipur for some years. These were times that were hard, but you know, hard things are sometimes the most precious things. You have to extract gold in different ways, and it is not easy. But at the end, if you do it in the right way, something valuable comes out. At the beginning, we have to understand that Gurujī came from a very traditional society. At that time, when he was young and when he met Mahāprabhujī, life was different, society was different, and everything was a kind of survival. But on the other hand, when we look at Holy Gurujī’s biography, we can see from the beginning his urge, his request for knowledge, for spirituality. I guess it was not easy. We don’t know much; Gurujī did not tell much about his time with Holy Gurujī, with Mahāprabhujī. But we can see from his personality what reflected many of Mahāprabhujī’s qualities. As it is with great masters, they make iron, and out of iron comes gold. Paraśamaṇi, but they are themselves the paraśamaṇi. From the time I came to India up to now, many things have changed. But the real origin of strength, of energy, lies in our paramparā. It is such a great paramparā, such a great tradition. It is necessary to keep up the tradition with respect, with honor, with devotion. Now it is time that every one of us slowly becomes aware and conscious. What does it mean? Because we are the ones who will carry the teachings, the spirit, the messages of this paramparā further, be it into our families, into our society, and so on. Without Holy Gurujī, we would not be here now. That is the reality. And without Swāmījī, without Viśva Gurujī, we would also not be here. When I had the blessings to be with Holy Gurujī, I was a young man knowing nothing. Now I am an older man, knowing nothing. But as you know, we derive many strengths and wisdom from our memories. We make experiences in life; they may fade, they may go away, but some things will always remain with us. That is our inner relation that we call love, what we call devotion, dedication, certain knowledge that will never leave us. Sometimes it may be covered up, but just dig, try to find it again, because these are the most precious stones, the pearls, the diamonds that we should honor and respect in life. With Holy Gurujī, it was not easy, but it was beautiful. At a certain time, everybody comes to a point where one thinks one cannot do it anymore. It is not possible; it is so hard, difficult. The circumstances and so on. One day I remember I was sitting in the Jaipur ashram. It was early morning; we had just done a walk at four o’clock before Gurujī. After that, Gurujī went to his room for his mālā. I was sitting outside and thinking, "How can I change my attitude? What can I do so that I can be more joyful in my service towards Holy Gurujī?" Suddenly, a thought came. The thought was, "I am here now. Whatever happens, first is Holy Gurujī." This attitude, this feeling, this kind of vision helped me a lot because it put many other things away and gave me a lot of strength and endurance. Now, with Holy Gurujī Swāmījī, I could tell many more things, many stories. But when I compare a little—not with distinction in that sense—when I compare Holy Gurujī and Viśva Gurujī, then Viśva Gurujī has that nature of a lion, and Holy Gurujī had the nature of a tiger. Both are kings in their own way, and one has to understand how to approach. This is a very important point. Holy Gurujī came from a very traditional way of teaching, and life was not easy. He had to struggle very much. He had to undergo very strong tapasyā, hardship. But he was very clear about what he wanted. When he met Mahāprabhujī, at that time his seeking, his longing, he knew, "Now I have reached my aim." From that on, he completely dedicated his life to Mahāprabhujī, and the outcome we have. In the long run, we see now here: these are some of the seeds that have fallen into the earth, and they are now sprouting. You are all one of them. It is your responsibility, your dharma, your duty in life now to take care of this small or bigger plant. Take care that it grows properly, and at a certain time it will give fruits for others. It will give shade for those who want to rest under that tree. That is a very important thing for all of us to think about, because the time will come that we have now to think, to put the real crown on our Viśva Gurujī. Holy Gurujī was a personality that I have not met up to now, anywhere in the world. His personality was extraordinary. I don’t or can’t say much about his spiritual greatness, but his personality was so strong. I never saw anybody in the world like this. He was determined, he was clear, he was a shining example of simplicity, of devotion. Outside, he was a pure bhakta, but inside he was additionally a pure jñānī. Gurujī had so much knowledge and wisdom, and even that little bit which he could share, he shared. Of course, much more, but you have to find first somebody who understands what you want to share, what you want to give. His knowledge was immense. Sometimes he told me, "I would like to give you more, but language is a problem." This problem... but I think, from my experience, Gurujī knew many, many secrets of this universe, many systems in this universe, what is happening there. But he never spoke about that. The things that are his legacy, what he dedicated to this world, you can find in his bhajans. These are the real pearls, the real diamonds. Even one sentence in a bhajan contains everything of the universe. Even one word. That is the beauty. That is the beauty of Gurujī, of his teaching and his practical part. Many of you saw there was 24 hours of mantra going on. Even when Gurujī was very sick in the hospital, you could see he could not keep his mālā in his hand, but you could see that this was always going on, always. And Gurujī always emphasized, "Practice your mālā, because in your mantra, even only one word contains the seed of the whole universe. If you are able to realize only one word in your mantra, you will be done. You will have achieved everything you want to achieve." But everybody has his destiny. We can only say that for us, Holy Gurujī is a sample for a spiritual life, a spiritual achievement. He is a true master, and he was able to make of everybody a true disciple. But it depends also on the disciple. The master is ready to give everything. If we cannot eat properly, we have our plate in front of us; we have to eat ourselves. If we are not willing to eat, it is our fault. There are many stories about or with Holy Gurujī, many nice stories, but they are all connected somehow with Viśva Gurujī. Gurujī many times told me, "Oh, how is Swāmījī? Where is Swāmījī? Where is Viśva Gurujī? When will he call?" And he was doing his mālā many times for support. When Swāmījī, Viśva Gurujī, came to India, you could see the joy when they met. It was not a normal joy when you come and see some relatives, no. There was a connection which is beyond comprehension, what you cannot imagine. Both Holy Gurujī and Viśva Gurujī fulfilled their dharma in this world: their duty, their responsibility. They also showed us how to reach there, how to come there, how to achieve. Gurujī was very strict, but his strictness was based on the foundation of love, respect, and understanding of human nature—the deep understanding of human nature, the needs and the wants. The strictness was there because whenever Holy Gurujī saw that my brain was growing some roots towards Māyā, he started to cut those roots. But his love was beyond understanding with the intellect. You had to open yourself for that. That was the main teaching: what he got from Mahāprabhujī, he was ready to share. As is our Viśva Gurujī, he is ready to share everything. But who wants everything? We want some parts, that which we like to have, that which is comfortable, that which gives us some acknowledgement, some status, and so on. Gurujī was an embodiment of simplicity, which is very much missing nowadays in society. His needs were simple, very simple. He had a second dress, his mālā, his water pot, and, of course, one servant, one sevak with him—but not because of the sevak serving him. Actually, Gurujī was serving. If we try to understand that, then we will also try to understand his dedication towards humanity, towards humans, because he saw in everybody the divine, the real, true, divine quality, the Ātmā. He did everything to make people understand and to make them do something for themselves to realize this Ātmā in themselves, because that was his experience. Once you make this experience, once you come there, you will share it; you try to share it in the way your personality is made. Every guru does it in a different way. As Holy Gurujī’s name is Śrī Svāmī Madhavānandī—Madhav, it is the sweetest one. All names have a very deep meaning in life, from birth to death. These names are not given by accident; they are given with a certain reason. In the name, content is inherited already, a certain quality that everybody has to unfold, or should unfold. It is part of his dharma as a human. So it is with Mahāprabhujī. We cannot say much about him, but Mahāprabhu is the great one. Everything in this world has a name and form, rūpa, but Mahāprabhujī is not limited to this form. He can have any form. We just had the luck to see him on photos in this form, and due to Holy Gurujī’s blessing, his prayer, his deep prayer—as many of you know—we are lucky to have Viśva Gurujī here. Now we are talking very casually. We know each other; we take it for granted. But who knows what has been before, from where we know, how we come together? There are no accidents in the universe. There are laws: divine laws, cosmic laws. There is an order. When you are in that consciousness, see that law, you will become that law, and you can work with that law. Due to Holy Gurujī’s deep prayer and divine vision, Viśva Gurujī is sitting now here with us. And Viśva Gurujī is bringing forward all the teachings, all the messages, all the qualities of our Guru Paramparā for the welfare of us, of the public in general, of this āśram, of so many thousands of people, of devotees, of disciples around the world. And it is now up to us to support and to engage with activity in different ways to complete his giant vision, to fulfill his saṅkalpa in this world, to make his being here pūrṇa, complete. I really, really pray to Mahāprabhujī that this vision will come true within the next year, and that we can offer Viśva Gurujī that āsana, that seat which he really deserves in this world. In this sense, thank you for listening. Thank you so much, Viśva Gurujī. Yes, very nice. Thank you very much. I came to your beautiful city and this river and Māṭājī. She was with us, and we had a beautiful lecture and stayed two days. He was coming, many people coming sometimes only once, but he was always coming, and many are still there. Still, thank you very much, life. Life is the life, but that life which life becomes, as like the whole universe, yes. Definitely, we... what all do all this? You will, you will come definitely in such a... your spirituality from this Premanājī or some others, and they all. We are all here. We have this prasāda, and when the prasāda comes, then everything is within ourself. When we make prasāda here, so why do we eat the prasāda? We have home. We were eating nice. We were all, but still we came a little. Why were we little? We could have been more. But prasāda, prasāda and prasāda is not mine, not others, but those who are very holy. You see, someone goes into a church, and you go into the church, it gives only just a little. And this is the prasāda. Sometimes this, sometimes they give in mouth or different. It is a reality, both together. How are they giving prasāda? Many people were going down. There was slowly, slowly something going away. But still there are dead bhaktas, all in their ashram or in the church, etc. Trust, and how they do, they know what they are doing. But, you know how we are, purities of the prasāda. And this prasāda, when given, then it is from God. It has been given by God. So we have only two things, or only this one. It is very much, very, very much. Only to see that, then a touch they give us, and it comes, and many, many people, the prasāda, they give it home, and they have some little, but they break little, little, and that they will eat this prasāda, just little. And so we are doing, you know that also, when we have this only one, and we put this in so big, so much, just one goes in, becomes the whole prasāda. Because it is God’s, Bhagavān, Mahāprabhujī, Guru’s, that touch in this is the immense and immense insight. You know what, we have Gurujī’s, our Mahāprabhujī’s, and Mahāprabhujī’s mālā we have there. And I have him like this, something, a little bit, a little bit maybe. And this prasāda which Holy Gurujī was giving, and that was with me, all the nearby Mahāprabhujī’s. And now Mahāprabhujī is not physically present. But I kept this prasāda very nicely locked. And those of our bhaktas here, from any, those of Mahāprabhujī, then I give them just one. But some people say it is like this. So I give them two, three or something, but all of Tilma Prabhujī’s went to the Paramātmā, Śiva. But this prasāda is still there, full, full. I give many people like this. So prasāda is very great. So you have in the church, and in this, how you are looking, water or something. So we should live like that. It doesn’t matter who is who, but when they take the name of God, of Jesus, what he said, what his mother said. One person came from India a long time ago, and he was an ambassador somewhere. Then, it was the last time when he was old. He was in Slovenia, in the embassy. And he always told me that he goes here in Vienna and nearby a little bit. And there is one little church, a little church. And it is a mother, the holy mother. And always he goes, and then that was the end of his university, his office. Sarvo was there. Now he’s retired, but he comes from India to here. And near our river, this river, yeah, and on the other side of this river, there is something, and she went there, and I went to see her. It is also very little, not big, but he said that there is so much strong power, energies for everybody. So when the holy mother, holy mother is great, is great, we should go like this. So everywhere is that, and we should tell the Bhagavān all. So many are the things, and so is that our old Gurujī, Mahāprabhujī, Devapurījīs, and then we come to the whole of the Alagpurījīs. And Alakpurījī was that time of the Śivās. And so, I don’t know how many people will be, because for many years he has had Ālakpurījī’s. So we came, we, Mahāprabhujī, Dev Mahāpurījī’s, Devpurījī’s, and Alakpurī again. So this is there. I had so many insights. I have seen from that, just a minute, and he has always that one kind of temple, mandir, and the ground, ground, all Ālagpurījī’s. Great, I hope I will again. When I come, we will have darśan. This darśan, I will go for darśan, maybe not long, stay there, but I will come then again. Come a little down, but Alagpurī we will all go. You should go, all you should go, Alagpurī. Even if I am not there, you should go. This is the way we have all of my energy, my energy, my touch, my self, and everything. I came in this area, in how many countries there. So, it’s not me, but my Guru is His foot, His everything. And that is, we are all there, and you definitely feel that when we came there in his cave, in the cave. And many people, everyone sees, and they come, and it is very good, it is very good. So, thank you very much. It is Mahāprabhu. So, tomorrow I am also in satsaṅg here, so I will be in satsaṅg tomorrow, and day after tomorrow, then I will again come to have darśan. But tomorrow morning I will go to Mahāprabhujī’s. Mahāprabhujī, first our mandir, our ashram, but it is so many cannot go, we are, so, but today I will go there, yeah, to, this is the first ashram, I begin to do very much, and this is very good, and this is very nice. Daytime, it is, of course. You cannot go everywhere, and you are going to the office, this, this, this. And in the evening, they are coming then. So, but, badī khaṭu. Ye khaṭu hamārā. Mā Prabhujī kā. Jai Darśan. Jai kar ke jāūṅgā. Hari Om.
