Mahaprabhuji was like a father to everyone

Mahāprabhujī's greatness drew people from far distances who traveled by foot, cart, or camel. His presence was a great event, and he was considered like Śiva Bhagavān. He meditated in a deep underground chamber and lived simply. He ensured everyone was fed before he would eat, acting like a father or mother. In that era, people in villages lived well and celebrated together; when a child was born, the whole community rejoiced. Many spiritual beings like him lived without concern for money. Now, with modern machines and distractions, people have lost this simplicity and constantly judge. True spirituality involves compassion, such as not killing animals for food. We should treat all as brothers and sisters and nurture the goodness within our hearts.

"Who has not eaten? Have you eaten or not?" He would check everywhere. Only after ensuring everyone had eaten would he say, "Okay, now I will eat."

"If you say we are very spiritual, and we are killing animals and eating them, then what is that?"

Mahāprabhujī’s greatness is immense. Wherever he sat, people would come and attain spiritual ascent. People travelled from far distances to see him. What does "far distance" mean in that era? There were no cars or cycles then. People travelled only by walking, by bullock cart (gāḍī), or by camel. Everyone was very happy, living like brothers at all times. They celebrated marriages. When I came to Europe, I saw that side also has very nice marriages. Everything was very good. But now we have too many things. We have aeroplanes and many machines, and because of that, people now know nothing. They constantly judge what is good or not. But at that time, not only here or in India, but throughout the whole world, people were living very well. It was a good life. Mahāprabhujī preferred to travel slowly, on foot only. But people would come quickly and offer him something—oats or fodder for the animals accompanying him. Wherever Mahāprabhujī went, it was a great event, and people thought of him as very, very great. Mahāprabhujī’s house had a very deep underground chamber. He would go inside there to meditate, sometimes for a whole day or two days. He also had a small house above ground. All of this is still there. You can go and see it, and hear the stories told about Mahāprabhujī. It is his house. For all people, Mahāprabhujī was like Śiva Bhagavān. Many people from that time have moved on or grown very old now, but some are still living. They were children then and would always come to Mahāprabhujī’s place. I told you yesterday that I will build a temple. There was a small temple before. Mahāprabhujī’s mother was also very great. You have seen her picture? She was like a mother for everyone. There are many spiritual people—sādhus, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvaras, and others—still sitting in the Himalayas. They do not think of money. Sometimes people bring them some fruit or provisions. In the Himalayas, there are still many such people. Those who come to villages and cities are different, but many of them are also very good. There is a very great city with a beautiful, very big lake. Mahāprabhujī is there, and people always came to him and his disciples. Disciples like him are still there. When many people came, like during a festival (Dixie Ting), Mahāprabhujī would ensure everybody was fed. He would get up and see, asking, "Who has not eaten? Have you eaten or not?" He would check everywhere. Only after ensuring everyone had eaten would he say, "Okay, now I will eat." He was like a father or mother. We see this a little with children. A mother always gives food to the children first. The father also gives something first. We see this in our āśram and satsaṅg. In the ashrams, it is strictly followed. The children and their children are served first. Your parents also give to you first. Mahāprabhujī was like that. He would say, "Do it all first. Why am I not done? Who is not done? Why did the children act like this?" Mahāprabhujī is Dev, meaning Bhagavān. He had a small, very nice house and land. He would meditate, sitting inside. He was a sādhu, a santa. Now we cannot sit anywhere like that. When we sit on a bed, we sleep. That is how it is. There were many great beings: Mahāprabhujī, Devapurījī, Madhvananjī, Mahādev, and many sādhus. They are all old and gray now. In that time, there were many spiritual people, sādhus, good families, and women in every house. The woman of the house was healthy, very happy, and good. She would give food to everyone. If someone came near her house, she would say, "Please come, come... I’ll give you something to eat," or she would give to their children. I tell you from time to time about the child. I once gave a name to a woman. She got a child and was very happy. The child, his mother, and all the people in the village would come to the door. "Nice little child," everybody would say, and they would give a name. The naming ceremony was held only once. There was a day for all children, a ceremony for girls or boys—it didn’t matter. They were all very nice children. Mahāprabhujī would take all people, all children, anybody. He was so happy; you cannot imagine. He came to his house, and his mother would call him. After a little while, he would always go away. His mother would call him and come there. It was a holy, holy room. The whole village was like this. All people in their villages would see their children. In the little villages, when a child was born, everyone was very happy and would come to see. It is not so much like that now. Our mother, Mahāprabhujī’s mother—you have seen how great she was. I did not see Mahāprabhujī himself. After a few years, he told me he would take me with him to his ashram. That is the day we go. Everyone has a very holy earth. That is why I told you we are making a temple. There is Mahārājī, sādhus, and Mahāprabhujī’s children’s center. He is there. I go here and there to every people. There is meditation there. You can go and see. It is like a stain everywhere. In that village, very good people were very happy. Now, everybody is running. They have this and that, but still, the people who are there—they may be in other cities—will come to Mahāprabhujī’s or Devapurījī’s place. Everybody will come, offer praṇām, and go. In that village, when someone marries, they come to Mahāprabhujī’s place and give prasāda. It doesn’t matter if it was a daughter or a boy. They all come there. Still, very few people are everywhere in the whole village, in the cities where you work. There are sādhus, and in your countries also there were many. They are always making nothing of what they know. Here, there are many things. In this way, we should... I am going, and I did it, I am doing... I told you yesterday. You should have, at any time, one person, two persons, five persons go to that village. All the village people will sit with them, saying, "Hello, how is this?" We go to the temple, to what Mahāprabhujī’s... In that temple we have made something beautiful now, and that’s why I taught again about Mahāprabhujī, Mahāprabhujī’s seven disciples, and all that. So, you are all here now, and you all have the same thing. You are in your country, you are anywhere, but when you are spiritual people, you will see. In that house, many times people were going and said, "This house, there was my grandmother," all the people tell that. So, in your country it is also very much like that, but now there is some difference. I see that in you. That’s why I am always coming here, because my heart is here. I see you, and you like it. This place has many of our people, our brothers, sisters, and our practitioners. Many have come and gone to other countries. But when they come here, they will either stay here or go to another ashram. So many people are there, all with you—our Austria, our New Zealand, but here, our Europeans. In Europeans, there is more spirituality, very much. You are very much, and this land is very good, and they should see. But of course, on that day, they did not know about killing animals and eating animals. But now, when I arrived here, I gave you all the home thinking, and then you said, "Yes, yes, we will not eat any more meat or this and that." Yes, now you understood what that is for. That is very spiritual in that way. If you say we are very spiritual, and we are killing animals and eating them, then what is that? In that, you have to see yourself and please be good. Be like this in your whole life so that you will go high up. Not somewhere like this. Many people now, the whole world, even those who don’t know me, and many sādhus also, have told the people. Many people don’t eat meat and alcohol now, and that is in every world. That’s why many people speak here, and people were always doing what you call the bagel. There are many people here in this city who don’t eat meat anymore. Many people are telling, "Yes, yeah, everybody." We should all have all as our brothers and sisters. It doesn’t matter if one comes once a day or once a month, but they are here inside, and we also are. This will also be, from time to time. We can also tell them a name or send a letter. Many people are speaking, "Please come here again. Where are you?" This is like, we have to keep our all in the whole areas, everywhere. This will... it means who will... so it means that my heart, in my heart is that one. And that is all the times, wherever I am going or sitting, there is something. Many people don’t see me or see like this, but we don’t speak about that. But people are telling something, and something is coming, something comes back good or not. But it is really coming more and more. Now in India, people are becoming other. So I hope that the Indians, they will be. But the Christians, they brought it too much in India, and then they are all eating meat and eating too much. It has come to this. So it is my... that I said, please, our Mahāprabhujī’s, Devapurījī’s, and Madhavānandjī’s. And you feel, do you feel with that? Yeah, when you come, or the seed, or that is there, so that’s a guru. Guru is the already. Must not be this color. You are many. You are so good that in your house, everything is very clean, and you make a prayer or anything. This is you. You are... Do everything that is inside your heart, and let it come further. It will be very good, comes, okay? So, all the best, and I wish you all the best. Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Devpurījī Mahāprabhujī, Madhvanājī Bhagavān. Om Śānti, Śānti,...
