Surrender to the Satguru: Songs and Prayers for Crossing Saṃsāra
The Satguru is the only means to cross the ocean of worldliness. The Guru destroys the bondage of death and shows compassion to the fear-stricken mind taking refuge. Like the sun, the Guru dispels darkness from the heart’s cavity. The Guru embodies Viṣṇu, Brahmā, and Śiva, proclaimed by the Vedas as supreme Brahman beyond undifferentiated nature. The Guru wields the discipline stick and awakens Kuṇḍalinī from sleep. The Guru cuts the knots of the heart and destroys inner enemies like desire, anger, lust, and greed. The Guru’s name destroys the three sorrows—ādhibhautika, ādhidaivika, and ādhyātmika. Repeating God’s name brings endless bliss; otherwise one remains trapped in the prison of saṃsāra. Life flows away moment by moment, and possessions cannot accompany anyone at death. Neither mother, father, brother, nor friend can go with the dying. Seek shelter with the Gurudev to learn the secret mantra that allows crossing the ocean of ignorance. The inner world has no birth, death, or karma, only eternal bliss as Jīvan Mukta. There is no moon, sun, or stars, yet endless formless light pervades. This realm is unattainable by king or beggar alike; saints dwell there in the nectar of Guru’s wisdom. Surrender all life’s responsibilities to the Lord; both success and defeat rest in divine hands. The only task is to reach the Lord, offering all worldly love to remain pure like a lotus untouched by water. At the time of death, leave yourself fully in the Lord’s hands.
"You are the sun who dispels the darkness of the cavity of the heart."
"I have one task, and that is to reach you, my Lord. And for that, I offer all my love for this world into your hands."
