Surrender to the Satguru: Songs and Prayers for Crossing Saṃsāra

The Satguru is the only means to cross the ocean of worldliness. The Guru destroys the bondage of death and shows compassion to the fear-stricken mind taking refuge. Like the sun, the Guru dispels darkness from the heart’s cavity. The Guru embodies Viṣṇu, Brahmā, and Śiva, proclaimed by the Vedas as supreme Brahman beyond undifferentiated nature. The Guru wields the discipline stick and awakens Kuṇḍalinī from sleep. The Guru cuts the knots of the heart and destroys inner enemies like desire, anger, lust, and greed. The Guru’s name destroys the three sorrows—ādhibhautika, ādhidaivika, and ādhyātmika. Repeating God’s name brings endless bliss; otherwise one remains trapped in the prison of saṃsāra. Life flows away moment by moment, and possessions cannot accompany anyone at death. Neither mother, father, brother, nor friend can go with the dying. Seek shelter with the Gurudev to learn the secret mantra that allows crossing the ocean of ignorance. The inner world has no birth, death, or karma, only eternal bliss as Jīvan Mukta. There is no moon, sun, or stars, yet endless formless light pervades. This realm is unattainable by king or beggar alike; saints dwell there in the nectar of Guru’s wisdom. Surrender all life’s responsibilities to the Lord; both success and defeat rest in divine hands. The only task is to reach the Lord, offering all worldly love to remain pure like a lotus untouched by water. At the time of death, leave yourself fully in the Lord’s hands.

"You are the sun who dispels the darkness of the cavity of the heart."

"I have one task, and that is to reach you, my Lord. And for that, I offer all my love for this world into your hands."

Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ, Bhagavān, Kī Jai, Śrī Devpurījī, Mahādeva, Kī Jai, Śrī Alakhpurījī, Bhagavān, Kī Jai, Satya Guru Maravānandjī, Bhagavān, Kī Jai, Svāmī Viśvānandjī, Gurudeva, Kī Jai Om. We will sing “Bhava Sāgara Taraṇa Karaṇa,” and its translation says: O Gurudeva, you are the means of crossing the ocean of worldliness. You are the destroyer of the bondage of death. Gurudev, please show compassion on thy humble servant who has come to thy refuge with a mind stricken with fear. You are the sun who dispels the darkness of the cavity of the heart. You are Viṣṇu, Brahmā, and Śiva. About you, the Vedas proclaim you as the supreme Brahman, beyond even the undifferentiated nature. You have the stick of discipline, and you help people to cross the ocean of saṃsāra. You have awakened the Kuṇḍalinī from her sleep. You cut asunder the knots of the heart. You are the destroyer of all the enemies: kāma, krodha, lust, greed, etc. Your name has the power to destroy all three sorrows, all three tapas: ādhibhautika, ādhidaivika, ādhyātmika. Your name is always a source of good. You are helping those who have fallen. Your glory is indescribable. Therefore, victory to thee, O Satguru Deo. You guide us on how to attain God. Please help me that my mind remains always at thy blessed lotus feet. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Satya Gurudeva Kī Jaya. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Devendra Nāthmā Jhūmāḍhārjī Kī Jaya, Hari Nāma, Hari Nāmasumāra. You will be in endless bliss when you always repeat God’s name. You are in the wheel of saṃsāra, like in a prison, and your life is flowing away with each moment. All that you possess will not go with you. Death will take everything away and will eat you. Neither mother, father, brother, nor friends will be able to go with you in the end. You are deeply in the net of moha and māyā. Think deeply, deep in your heart. Go and seek shelter with Gurudev. He will explain to you the secret of mantra. When you will repeat it consciously, always, then you will cross the ocean of ignorance. Svāmī Dīp is the servant of God. My Gurudev, Śrī Devpurījī, gave me his darśana. Svāmī Dīp is a servant of God. Āratī Karu Sattva Gurū Kī, Karu Sattva Gurū Kī, Pyāre Gurū Marā Kī. O Gurudev, please take me with you to the internal world. I will leave the clothes of Vairāgya. I don’t like them. I also don’t like norms and the thinking of men. In that world, there is no birth nor death. There is not even a glimpse of karma. There I will become Jīvan Mukta, and I will be in bliss forever. There, there is no moon, no sun, and no stars, but still there is endless light. There is no form, no color, just internal, indescribable eternity. This is something that is unachievable both for a king and for a beggar. In that high world live and work all saints. I bow to them deeply. Their nectar of the Guru’s wisdom flows. There, he is the Lord of all gods. Svāmī Dīp says, “I would like to be there, where there is no birth nor death, where you, my Lord, are in your true shining form.” Please lead me to that world. Oṁ Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, Kī Jai. Oṁ Śrī Devī Svaramahādeva, Kī Jai, Oṁ Śrī Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā, Kī Jai. It says, “O Lord, now I leave to you the whole responsibility for my life. My success as well as my defeat is in your hands. I have one task, and that is to reach you, my Lord. And for that, I offer all my love for this world into your hands. For if I must live in this world, I want to stay pure and untouched, like a lotus flower on the surface of the lake. O Lord, I offer all my work and all my mistakes into your hands. Since I had to be born in this physical human form, please allow me to respect your lotus feet. And please let that through my service; all my work becomes success in your hands. When I am entangled in worldly things, please help me to work selflessly. And when the time of my death comes, please allow me to leave myself in your hands.” There is only one difference between you and me. I am only a human, and you are the highest Lord. I myself am in the hands of this world, in the hands of saṃsāra. However, this world is in your hands. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, Kī Jai. Om Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, Kī Jai, Om Śrī Svāmī Maheśvarānanda Jī, Guru Deva, Kī Jai.
