We are in a blessed place
The story of the great tree and the small axe reveals how the seemingly insignificant overcomes the mighty.
During Holī, Gurujī spoke of a very big tree, tall and thick, so large people came and went through it. Many passed by. Then a sādhu arrived and said, “Now this will die. It will increase more and more.” Another sādhu said a single person would take too long; a small axe alone would break everything. Someone objected, “Such a tiny piece of iron, what can it do? Go away.” Yet when they put in effort, they became his friend, and it fell down. Fire was used, and it was gone. After years, the doubter came back, saw everything cut, and exclaimed, “It was my God.” The sādhu said, “Why was this one broken? Only by the people—they cut a little. They sat on it, and from that, it broke. It will happen on the other side. Please do not think it will stand.” Something was pulled round and round, put inside, and it caught fire. We took everything nice, we will not break them. We tried two years, we were pregnant with it, so that is gone, and so is that human. O human, you are very good, you are God. We will not kill them, but what we kill—animals, fruits—they make something inside, and then it will go down. In this place, we are happy, and God protects.
“You cannot defeat it, but there is only this little one, and it will go.”
“O human, you are God, because we know very well, and we will not kill them.”
