We can change the world together

Conscious consumption is imperative for health and spiritual integrity. Many now consume insects and altered foods, a practice spreading globally. This causes physical harm, as foreign substances introduce problems into the body. We lack the proper enzymes to digest such matter, leading to potential blockages and disease. The food system contains hidden ingredients, with labeling often absent in restaurants. Market forces alone are insufficient, as some insect-based products are now cheap and popular. Collective endurance and personal action are required. Cook at home using known, raw ingredients to ensure purity. Unity and sustained refusal to buy harmful products can change industry practices. Historical movements succeeded through shared sacrifice and will. Your health and autonomy depend on what you choose to consume.

"To digest such matter, we would need a special enzyme which we do not have."

"The best food for our health is no-label food."

We are brothers, and we are great. We know our own worth. Many things are happening. There are other people who come and eat meat and such things. Many have also come from India and have begun to eat certain things. For about a year now, or perhaps longer, people have been eating so many animals. These animals, which are very small, are coming to us, and they are eaten. This is not only in this country but everywhere. It has even come to India. Many people in India do not know. So, there are two kinds of people: good, very nice people who would not eat anything like this, and others who are consuming more and more, even in India. They have decided this for the whole world and are also sending it to India. Some said it is very good, and some said they will not accept it. We are here in this place, eating well. But I do not know about some people—where you are eating from. So we said we should not do this; it is not good. It will cause many, many things in the body. When there are such animals, there are bugs, and they can also bite us. I did not know what it was. It was inside my house here. Someone was sleeping; we were all sleeping very nicely. Then they came like this. I know what happened to me one day—it was very bad. My back was very hard here. You have already seen it. Who has not seen it? Stand up. Yes, you should stand up and see? No, no, it will... Can you? So? One, two, three, four, five. But it is nice now, yes? It was swollen, red, black, and down here also, here and here. It was everywhere, yes? On the back side, and many problems. You see, but it is still okay. So many people have problems, but they do not know what it is. Are you someone who says, "It doesn’t matter what is inside," okay? It is not only here; it is everywhere. I think they have been making it for about ten years. They brought it from, like, that big tree over there. Where is it coming from? It came from China. Yes. What is its name? You say it comes from China. But what is it called? There are many, many—about 10, 20. What are they called? Insects. Yes, insects. So, what is the name of the insects that attack these trees? We do not know, but you can see. Do you know sand flies that are so minute? Yes. Sand flies from sand? Yes, that is it. That is what you are saying. When you see seeds, they say, "Oh, this is mine." So, you will see many things. They are coming inside like this, and it has been for many years. You will see me. I saw you, and you will see again. There is one big tree. Further down, isn't it? Yes. And now you will see, it will already remember how it will... Yes. So, it is one of these also. And then there are many other things. There are... You see other trees like that, one that you see out there. So, did you eat like this? No, but they do not know. No, but they are already, yes. I hope it is only like this. Yes, that is a problem, very much. And this will go. Now it has already begun. But then we will see how we will be and how it will be very problematic. So, you are not only from here; you are from other countries. Yes, and in every country, you know, now Germany also, you know. So, yes, we all, people will come and do something. Yes, you have already... Are you only? No, yes, but they have given, come in, but it is still not. Then when you go tomorrow and you see what kind of thing this is, yes, it is only in India. Many, many in India are in this pain. So, what will happen now? It will be very problematic. So, we should please see what we should eat. There is one like this, it is like that, and they have already given something, so it grows big and like this, yes. So, we should not take it where you have sheep, very nice and served. This is like this, but everything is on us, so for us it will be. Our water, good water, many things. I do not know why these people are doing this. They are human, these humans, but they are not human anymore, yes. And many, many things will happen in our body. I spoke with three different state associations in the Czech Republic responsible for the issue of adding insects to food and for controlling food ingredients. The first is the Ministry of Health and its head, the second is the Agriculture Inspection under the Ministry of Agriculture, and the third is the Veterinary Inspection. Each organization has a part of this issue on its agenda, and all three are responsible for a part of this problem. All three associations confirmed that even though the European Union regulations are completely new, it is compulsory to put all information about all ingredients on the product label. These three associations control whether this is really done on the Czech market. The veterinary inspection also controls the rearing of those insects because, in Czech law, there is no difference between cows and these crickets. The conditions for this trade are relatively complicated, the technology is expensive, and products from this source are therefore enormously expensive. It is complicated and very expensive to produce this for general use. If somebody produces products from these crickets or other insects, they also market them as something more—like protein or cricket bread—so they can sell them much more expensively. For the second type of product—from restaurants, bakeries, and other branches that process the products of the first production—the composition also has to be explained, but most of the time this information is only available on demand. In other words, you usually do not have a label there; you can only ask for the ingredients of the product you eat in a restaurant. This is a grey zone. You can overcome this in two ways. The first is the power of the market, because products containing cricket flour are much more expensive. One kilogram of normal flour costs about 10 Czech crowns, while one kilogram of cricket flour costs about 100 Czech crowns. So, no one would like to replace normal flour with cricket flour because it is much more expensive. The second way to avoid this is to control all ingredients and check everything in restaurants. But the best way, as Viśwa Gurujī advises, is to cook at home from ingredients we know—raw ingredients—or to produce our own products, so we are sure they are absolutely perfect. Hari Om. In the divine presence of His Holiness, I take this opportunity to pay my humblest respects to all soulmates gathered here today. I am from London, and my name is Amarjeet Bhamra. I work very hard on the ground with British parliamentarians. We have set up a very powerful group of about 30 parliamentarians in the UK to fight for our cause, which is basically the legitimization of yoga, Āyurveda, Jyotiṣa, Vāstu, and other Indian traditional sciences in the UK and in the European Parliament. For the first time in the history of Āyurveda, we are now trialing an Āyurvedic herb to see how effectively it can combat certain conditions. This is a government-to-government study between the UK and Indian governments. We have had the benevolent pleasure of inviting Śrī Swāmījī, who graced the UK Parliament some four or five years ago at one of the International Yoga Day programs in London. In the Parliament, Swāmījī greeted the English Parliament and presented yoga there. What is really pertinent to our dialogue this morning is what Swāmījī has been instructing us. It is very important. We have a situation where any little bit of foreign karma that comes into the system has to be paid back. We all know that, yes? So, Swāmījī is very eloquently suggesting how we should refrain from inhaling or taking in foreign matter, like that of animal products. The United States government has been conducting research over the last few years to try and identify what actually happens when a human organ is transplanted into another human. We spoke about this briefly yesterday, but I want to round that out. Many people change their habits and their thinking after they receive a donor organ—be it a kidney, gallbladder, or any human organ. Why does that happen? Months after coming out of the hospital, they say, "I don’t like this particular thing anymore," or they want to change the color of their bedroom, or their car, or they take up new skills like violin playing. Why? Āyurveda and yoga culture tell us very clearly. I am still trying to learn this in my humble age, having learned many things from Śrī Swāmījī. This all comes under the auspices of Ātmā Jñāna in the yoga culture. We have many prāṇas, but ten are the most prominent. Safely, another word for prāṇa is intelligence. According to the ancient Indian tradition, when the final prāṇa leaves the body, it is offered to the Agni. You are all familiar with the word agni? Good. This final prāṇa leaves at the time it is placed before the agni. If we go back to my example: if a very little prāṇic value from another human, when dissected and transplanted, can change a person, then what value do you think changes in our mind, thoughts, and systems when we are eating so many different species? It begs the question that we are at the epitome of creation. Our obligation, our duty, should be not that of a predator, but of a protector. I am very humbled and extremely blessed, like all of you, to be here in the holy presence of Śrī Swāmījī. My humble prayer before Swāmījī is to keep guiding us on this spiritual path so that we follow the sāttvic path and become his wonderful and beautiful students. In the human being, we have no chitinase enzyme. This enzyme breaks down the chitin from insects. Without it, chitin blocks the small channels and later the bigger channels. So, eating insects is not good—not only for spiritual people, but for nobody—because it can later cause myoma, cancer, tumors, anything. To digest such matter, we would need a special enzyme which we do not have. Therefore, eating these worms is not only bad for our spiritual path but can cause serious health problems. I would also like to tell you something about those crickets. We are experienced in sport nutrition, and different protein products are enhanced with cricket flour. A common bar costing 30 CZK, which is not that expensive, can consist of these crickets. We realized this when looking at the ingredients list. The same with protein bread; if you read the list, you can see there could be cricket flour in it. I think the price of crickets has gone really down because children in school usually eat chips or chip replacements made of crickets. It is very popular among children. We are now almost setting up a similar group of parliamentarians here in the EU Parliament in Brussels, like we have done in London. So, my humble request before the lotus feet of Swāmījī is to help us build a very strong parliamentary group. It does not matter whether these Members of the European Parliament are from Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Romania, or wherever. In our relentless fight for our rights, we need to take this head-on to the European Commission and the European Parliament. My request is that Swāmījī please encourage members of the European Parliament and politicians to come together on this particular platform we are setting up. We are the people who make them parliamentarians because if we do not vote for them, they cannot be parliamentarians. So, we also need to exercise our voice through the parliamentary community so that the people running the parliament are aware of our needs. Thank you so much. Hari Om, dear friends. When we talk about all this food and everything, it is very important to know one thing. What we know is that in Kali Yuga, there is only one god, and that is money. Everything functions through money. The second thing: always keep in mind what Mahātmā Gandhi was doing. He had an idea, because in the world, everything is possible to do now if we have real will and strength. Like Mahātmā Gandhījī—but also, Mahātmā Gandhi alone in that time would not have been able to do anything. He had a lot of people with him. Now we are talking about web pages and all this, but it is a very easy thing: stop buying. Do not buy anything. If you want milk in a bottle, stop buying milk in plastic. We do not need milk for one month; we will not die without milk for one month. But the industry will die because they do not have money, and they will change. Research shows there is one group going on the conservative part, one on the left side, but now there is also an existing third part which wants to change something. When asked, "How many people are with the same thinking as you?" they said, "Oh, that is a little, not so much." But they realized it is approximately 30%, which is a lot of people. What is the problem? The problem is the same as during voting time. It is a little rainy: "I will not go to vote." The weather is not nice—that is our problem. In the time of Gandhījī, people had strength. In the time of Martin Luther King, people had strength. Everything started with one black lady who decided and said, "No, I will not get out of the seat. I will sit, or I will walk." And people decided, "Yes, we will walk. We will not use public transport if we do not have the same rights." But they had the strength to endure. After work, they walked home—not a few kilometers, but much more—for one month, a second month. And you know, gold is the god in Kali Yuga. Start change. Remember what was in India with the Salt March—how many people walked to the sea to take salt. That was symbolic, but it cost a lot of money. Gandhījī decided to make cloth. When he went to England, he went to the people in the cloth industry and said, "I apologize to you. I know you lose money and jobs, but that is my fight, and we must know that." There are many people with the same idea as we have. But our problem is only that we do not have endurance. "What to do? What can I do? I am a small man. I do not have power." You know what Viśwa Gurujī has said many times, and what the U.N. says: "Every voice counts." There is a very nice saying: the strength in Kali Yuga is when we are together. We know from the Romans: it is always "divide and rule." Try to forget differences. Try to be united, as we always learn from Viśākhā Gurujī. And endure. The best food for our health is no-label food. What does "eat at home" mean? Prepare your bread, prepare your chapati, roti, or falahari diet. What you decide—you do not need to go outside, only if your friend has something like a tilak. Support this and have the strength to endure on that way. Only on that way are we able to change something. No buying. No-label food. We will be healthy, happy, and have more money. You know how much money goes to food. Really, if you cook at home, as Viśwa Gurujī said, in America people are a little jealous of Indians because they come to America and after a few years they have a home, a flat, a house—yes, but they cook at home. If we cook for ourselves, it will be much, much cheaper. That is also a kind of respect to Lakṣmī. We will have more money because we will visit the doctor less, use less medicine, and we will have real good food, sāttvic food. In that way, we will also be able to change the world. Always, always keep in mind great people like Gandhījī, like Martin Luther King—enduring. "No, I do not need these bars. I do not need this protein bread. I do not need this. I will prepare my bread at home, or I will not eat." Most of us have a few kilos more. I do not need this. That is the best way. And also, together—the strength in Kali Yuga is in unity. What we hear connects together not only one country, one family, but our whole yoga family. And we will be able to change the world. We have such a good idea from Viśwa Gurujī, and he always tries to push us up a little. But our only problem is to endure in such an idea. C.D.P. number one, K.J. Just a couple of things. One is that when some products are put into food, the amount can be so little that they do not have to declare it. I know this is the case in Australia. Agnindiv, a disciple of Somajī, was working for the company that makes Tim Tams biscuits. Because of his contract, he had access to information not normally available. One thing they put into these biscuits was a poison to stop mold and keep the biscuit nice for longer. He said the poison was so powerful that a cupful would kill a hundred thousand people. Because it was so powerful, they hardly had to put any in. And because they put so little, it fell into a classification saying that if the amount is below a certain level, you do not have to declare it. So, it is another argument for cooking for yourself. There was one other thing, which again I do not know how relevant it is, but it is important. When they make plastics, especially plastic bottles, they have to put in a compound called phthalates to make the plastic strong and flexible. As far as I know, they do not have a replacement; without it, the plastic would not be that useful. The problem is that phthalates have been implicated in making it difficult for people to have children. This substance is problematic especially for children. It is spelled P-H-T-H-A-L-A-T-E-S. But again, it is an argument for staying away from plastic bottles, particularly for anyone of reproductive age and, of course, for children. That is all.
