Webcast from Hungary

This gathering honors a dedicated organizer and his enduring spirit. He was a foundational figure who built a strong community and team. His work began by welcoming the teacher to this country and publishing the first local yoga text. He championed vegetarianism, emphasizing both health and the principle of non-harm. His guiding motto valued practice far above theoretical knowledge. He possessed a unique ability to connect sincerely with everyone, from local residents to distinguished guests. His legacy of selfless service continues to inspire this seminar and the community's work.

"One gram of practice is much, much more valuable than a ton of theory."

"When asked to do something, he never asked, 'Why do you need it?' or 'When should I stop?'"

Filming location: Vép, Hungary

Mr. Vilmos C. was the leader of the student hostel and, from the very beginning, the person who supported Károly and helped him create this series of seminars here in our school. Those two men were truly a great team together. We should remember him, and we should realize the plans which were dreamed by Károly Kovács. You are welcome to our city of Vép in the future as well. We should do it together. And as our usual farewell greeting here for us in VAPE is: for you, VAPE is with you. Thank you very much for your attention. Our Kṛṣṇānandjī, our great organizer, had a very good relationship with us organizers. He built a great team, and many of us have beautiful memories of him. A few of these memories we would like to share with you. I would like to ask my guru brother, Dr. Géza Márk Śivapurī, to come and please say a few words also about your memories with Kṛṣṇānandjī. Please come here, Śivapurījī. Károly was a very great organizer, and in our organization, we organizers think a lot about it and keep beautiful memories in connection with it. And now I would like to invite my organizer partner, Śivapurījī, who is the representative of our Hungarian organization. He is the fellowship representative of our Hungarian Yoga in Daily Life organization, and he will say a few words also about Kṛṣṇānandjī. I would like to welcome dear Viśwa Gurujī and all of our participants in the name of The International Yoga in Daily Life Fellowship. This international community is present in all parts of the world, perhaps only not in Antarctica, and in many countries. Its task is to ensure the quality of Yoga in Daily Life everywhere. And the second task is to help the humanitarian programs in India. This organization is present on all continents, maybe except Antarctica, and it’s also present in many, many countries. Its main duty is to guarantee the quality of Yoga in Daily Life, and the second main duty is to represent humanitarian activities in India. Śrīdīp Māthāvananda Assam Társaságnak is elnöke volt 2002 és 2004 között. Besides being the president of the Hungarian Yoga in Daily Life Association and also the president of the Budapest Leisure Sports Association, Kṛṣṇānandjī was also the president of the International Yoga in Daily Life Fellowship from 2002 until 2004. He was the first one to welcome Viśwa Gurujī in Hungary in 1978, together with his dear wife Amṛtānandjī, who is here with us today. I would like to highlight only a few of his many, many activities. The first yoga book, the first Yoga in Daily Life book in Hungary, and one of the first Hungarian yoga books, was released by him in 1984. It had many, many copies, like tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands, and there was a second volume just four years after. It is very hot here now. I would like to highlight only three of his main characteristics. First of all, he was a vegetarian, and he made a lot of effort to make a vegetarian lifestyle more popular in Hungary at a time when it was really difficult. The vegetarian and vegan lifestyle is now spreading very strongly in Europe, and scientific facts prove how harmful meat is to health. But it is also very important that if we do not kill animals, we also keep the principles of Ahiṃsā, non-harm, in mind. As Csák Puli mentioned a few days ago in his lecture, there are a lot of scientific facts supporting the health effects, how healthy the vegetarian and vegan lifestyle is. But also there is another point: if we don’t kill the animals, we protect the animals, then we are following the path of Ahiṃsā. The second point that I would like to highlight is that Kṛṣṇānandjī’s motto, what he learned from Viśwagurujī, was that one gram of practice is much, much more valuable than a ton of theory. The third thing, which was a special feature of his personality, was that he was able to find the sound with everyone. The Guru Ashram in Budapest, which Viśwagurujī and his master, Holī Gurujī, raised in 1980, is located in an area where a lot of poor people live. That’s why, if we held events in the nearby parks, the nearby residents also came to them. And Kṛṣṇānandjī found the voice within them excellently. And another important point of the personality of Kṛṣṇānandjī is that he managed to find a voice, how to talk with everyone. The first ashram in Budapest, the Guru Ashram, was inaugurated in 1980 with Viśwa Gurujī and his master, Holī Gurujī. This is the area in Budapest where there are a lot of poor people in poverty. And so when we had programs in the surrounding parks, many of the local people just came to join us. And he had a really good relation with those people also. At the same time, if we look at the second part of the social rank, we had the honor to have the Mahārājā of Jodhpur visiting Hungary, here in Vép, and the Prince of Liechtenstein. I had the honor to learn that Kṛṣṇānandjī could also talk to them. And the other side of the social hierarchy, we had the respect to have the Mahārājā of Jodhpur here in Vāpe, and also the Prince of Liechtenstein. Kṛṣṇānandjī could talk in a very friendly way with them also, because for him, all of us are equal; we are children of God. It doesn’t matter which financial situation or which social position one has. Even though Kṛṣṇānandjī has left us nearly three years ago, we still organize this seminar in his spirit and with the connection to him. Even though Kṛṣṇānandjī has left us nearly three years ago, we still organize this seminar in his spirit and with the connections and the people who established the relation with him. And so we would like to thank him, and also we would like to thank the blessing of Viśwa Gurujī and the work of the Karma Yogīs. Thank you for the attention. Thank you for the attention. My love, I will be thine, oh well, my Gurudev, I will be thine, oh well, Bhagavān Kī Jai, Parahaṁsa. Yoganandjī Mahārāj Kī Jai, Viśwa Guru Mahāvandaleśvara, Parahaṁsa Vaimaheśvarānandjī Gurudev, Kī Jai. Hari Om, it is beautiful for us, and this world, but here this world is very, very great. In this country, in that country’s gender, this is one of the best here, and everybody is coming. And there are many people here, coming, going, always seeing that. Many people come here, and in this place, nobody tells anything. They are very peaceful to everybody, and that is the very best, I’m telling you. And I was here many times, and we will all stay here, and they will help us so that we can come here. And we are here from many, many countries. So their language, even though I don’t know, you know, Australia, you know that Australia, from Australia he came up, yeah. Yeah. So he came here for him, there to that. So Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and India, all are coming here into this country. And there was our Swāmī, my disciples, so it was very good. And I think I want our country, your countries, and here, if they can bring this Swāmī, and we can bring him here, beautiful, some place, yeah, here, somewhere. Somewhere here, or here, or here somewhere, and it will be, we will make, if he wants, we will make a very nice little something, yeah, yeah. So thank you very much, and we will speak about that another time. You see that we are very happy and very good, but also we are not good. Because so far we are, therefore we will not go away. Yes? So this village is very great, and we have been there many, many times. And the people are coming from many, many countries; they are coming very much. And they are very good; they can give us that we are here. And if anything, for us, they are always coming and giving up something. So this day was very great for us, and for this whole village. And it’s for us, yeah, and yourself. So we will not tell, because we are okay. Otherwise, we come tomorrow evening there, and we can come. Okay, next time I’ve come evening, and she will dance, dancing very nice. So we will next time we come, and it’s very, very nice. Our whole people, they will come. Thank you very much. You are, for you. It’s very hard to say a few words after these beautiful speeches, but I would like to mention one thing that was very important for Kṛṣṇānand. When Viśwagurujī asked him to do something, he never asked, "Why do you need it?" or "When?" or "When should I stop?" And I would like to give this message to the youth. Thank you very much, Viśwa Gurujī, for making it possible for us to remember Kṛṣṇānandjī, our leader. I would like to present the latest edition of our book, the Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years of Swāmījī’s work through images and memories of the last decades of his work. We would like to give an example of Swāmījī’s freshly dedicated work to the Mayor, and in these 50 years there is also the work of Károly Kovács Kṛṣṇānandjī. And now we would like to introduce to the Mayor, and with the fresh dedication from Viśwa Gurujī, we would like to give one copy of this golden jubilee book, which commemorates the last five decades of work by Viśwa Gurujī throughout the world, and also in Hungary. And in those five decades, the work of Kṛṣṇānandjī, our Kovács Károly, is also included. And one copy of this we would like to hand over to Mr. [Mayor]. Hari Om, dear friends. Thank you very much that you came, that you are present here, that we could remember together Kṛṣṇānandjī. It is a very hot day today, so we return now to the school area to our yoga camp and continue our program. Thank you very much indeed. Hari Om.
