On Shiva Purana Katha

Life presents two paths: one of the world and one to God. The worldly path, introduced by family and society, leads to suffering. The spiritual path, called Parmārth or Satsaṅg, leads to true bliss and God. Only the Sadguru introduces one to the world's creator, a truth we often overlook. We acknowledge a maker for human artifacts like cloth, yet seldom consider the divine creator behind mountains, rivers, and stars. Meeting such a Guru requires the accumulated merit of many lifetimes. This connection ultimately guides one to God, the source of bliss, away from the world's sorrow.

"The only one who brings us to God is the Sadguru Dev."

"The world is a form of sorrow. God is a form of true bliss."

Filming location: Jadan, Rajasthan, India

Hari Om. This is Mahāmudāleśwar Swāmī Chidambaranand Saraswatī Jī Mahārāj from Bombay. He is also a Mahāmudāleśvara from our Akhāḍā, Śrī Pañcāyatī Mahāranī Akhāḍā. As you all might know, or now you know, Chidambaranand Mahārāj will be giving the Śivapurāṇa Kathā from the 10th to the 19th at the opening. He has now come to see how the work is progressing, for he is the person who is going to conduct it. He is going to now give a lecture, and after he finishes, Swāmī Niranjanānandajī will translate it into English. Gurave buddhisākṣiṇe oṁ śānti śānti... Sadgurudev Bhagavān kī Jai, Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān kī Jai, Svāmī Madhavānanda Bhagavān kī Jai, Pūjya Mahāmaleśvara Maheśvarañjī Bhagavān kī Jai, Akhil Koṭi Brahmāṇḍa Dhāyaka Parāt Paratatva Parabhāraṁ Paramātmā Tathāvunikē Avināśru. Sat Gurudev Bhagvān kī Caraṇamaya Nandasya Praṇām Anantaśrī Vyohaśik Pūjī Mahāmalya Svāmī Maheśvarān Purī Jī Mahārāj Vare Priye Svāmī Avatār Purī Jī Mahārāj Priye Rājendra Purī Jī Mahārāj. To all of you travellers on the path of the supreme goal (Parmārth), there are two paths in life: one is the world (sansār) and the other is spirituality (adhyātma). The path of spirituality is called the path of Parmārth. The path of spirituality is called the path of Satsaṅg. This is the path on which the Jīva attains God. The work of telling this path is done by the Sadguru, the Gurudev. There is only one Sadguru in the world who tells you about God. If you are born in a family, then all the relatives of the world, all the people, introduce you only to the world. This is your mother, this is your father, this is your brother, this is your home, this is your family, this is your wealth, this is your property. If someone is introduced to the world along with birth, then it is only the world. It is only the Sadguru, it is only the Saint who introduces you to the creator of the world beyond the visible world. We have seen that there is a river, a mountain, the sun, the moon, the world, but there must be someone who makes it. No one explains it. We have seen this cloth, so we believe that someone must have made it. We see this decoration, we know that someone must have made it. But when we see the decoration of the stars in the sky, we never think that someone must have made it. If someone does the work of telling this, then it is the Sadguru. If someone does the work of telling this, then it is the Mahātma. That is why the scholars praised the saints and the Mahātmas a lot. Bhagyo dayena bahujanma samarjitena, satsaṅgamang chalabhate puruṣo yadavayi. The virtues of infinite births, some righteous deeds, some good deeds that we have done—if we get the fruit of all those virtuous deeds together, then we get the blessing of the saints. No matter where you were born, even if you were not born in India, it is certain that you must have done some good deeds. Only then did you connect with Maheśvara Ānanda Purījī Mahārāj, came in contact with him, and came into his company. And he brought you from there and connected you with India, connected you with Indian culture, connected you with Indian thought, connected you with Indian vision. And the most fundamental thing is to connect with God, who created this world. This is important. People want to understand why it is necessary to connect with God. Why is it necessary to connect with God? Understand this in a very simple way. Understand what we said in the beginning, that the world and God are two things. In the world, the scriptures say, "Asāra khalusansāro duḥkharūpī bimohaka." How is the world? It is a form of sorrow. How is God? It is a form of true bliss. God is a form of bliss, and the world is a form of sorrow. What do we want? We want sorrow or bliss? We want bliss. So, going to the world, you will not get bliss. That is why you need to connect with God. And the work of connecting with that God is done by the Mahātma. That is why it is the glory of the Sadguru. All of you are very fortunate that you have come to the Om Āśram. In the presence of the Pūjya Mahāmaleśvara Viśvagurujī Mahārāja, during the inauguration of the Sundara Divya Āśrama, the Om Āśrama, you will listen to the story of the Śiva Purāṇa. Many saints, Mahāpuruṣas, great scholars, and yogī saints will be gathered. You will get to see all of them. You will get to see their path. You will get to listen to their teachings. And Bhavya Om Mandir, which is a historic temple in the world—there is no such divine Om Mandir in the world. It is also a blessing of Rajasthan that on the banks of Rajasthan, Pūjya Svāmījī has made such a beautiful, divine Om Āśram in Jardhan village. It is his inauguration. Everyone should be gathered in this celebration with excitement and joy. Hari Om.
