Be the tool

An evening satsang on humility, grace, and being an instrument for divine will.

"Only what is important for us is to understand and to pray to be the tool."

"Always be aware and pray. Please, God, give me opportunity. Give me a chance to be your tool."

Following opening prayers and chants to the guru's sandals, a speaker addresses the gathered and online audience. He shares a parable about a dog who mistakenly believes it is pulling a chariot, and the story of Hanuman receiving a lesson from a sage about the endless cycle of divine service. The core teaching emphasizes surrendering the ego, becoming a selfless instrument for grace, and performing service without seeking recognition, contrasting this with spiritual showmanship.

A pomáhá ji naplňovat tužby těch, kdo ho zdraví. Praṇām Gurudev, Hari Om, dear brothers and sisters. Today it is so nice to see you near. It is nice to see you very near, not half a kilometer far, and that you are sitting, and it's much, much better energy to feel. All we are more closer now to the Abba Maṇḍala of our Guru Dev. Today, they come to my mind, the one story, because during the morning... Swamiji went with other people in a little, not horse riding, but a coach, you know, this with the horse, this chariot, chariot. And it was the old way of transport. Two horses and approximately 10 to 12 people. Poor horses. But in that moment, I remember one nice story. That was one big family, approximately the same quantity. Twelve people, a lot of children, a lot of stuff, everything in this chariot. And that was some nomad. What does it mean that they are traveling from here to there? And with that, the family also had one dog. And then, dog, you know how dogs are. Running here and there, in one moment you can't see your dog anymore, but they came back. The whole day, the dog was running here and there. But in the afternoon, the dog was tired, and also the sun became strong. And that dog slowly came under this chariot. And all day running, tired, thirsty, he started to think: These humans are torturing me. Look, so big chariot, how many people are up and this stuff and everything I am carrying on my back. And you know how a dog is looking when he is tired, the tongue is really... they are torturing me. No, I will not anymore carry all this stuff. Even two horses I am carrying. No, I will stop. And after a few kilometers, he decided to stop. Now they will see, when I am not carrying them, how is the heart to walk. And he stopped, but the chariot continued to go. Usually, there is our situation. That we also think, "Oh, how many things I am doing," and that is not only a problem with the dog and with us. The same story is in the Rāmāyaṇa, when great Hanumānjī, in one moment, sits and starts to think, "Yes. I do a lot of things. I found a Sītā. I fly to find a cure for Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa. Bridge also. Everything I do. Look, really, Vážně, Ráma was here, but factually I do it." And in that moment, he sat near Ráma, and Ráma immediately noticed those thoughts of Hanumān, and what to say at that moment? Oh, you're great. You really do so much for me. But I have one task more for you, yes. Please give this ring to the sage. And that sage was very far, far in the Himalayas. And it is very hard to reach that area. But you are mighty Hanumān, you are able to do this. And he said, "Yes, my Lord, I will do it for you." He said, "Yes, my lord, I will do it for you." He took the ring and he was traveling. It was really hard to reach that Ṛṣi. And finally, he reached the Ṛṣi. He bowed down to the Ṛṣi and gave him the ring from Rāma. And the ṛṣi looked at her and threw her into some container. Imagine yourself. Anger starts. And Hanuman was really with a great fire inside. How is it possible? That is a ring from Rāma, and you just throw it down. And also, that sage saw that Hanumān shook it a little, and he said, "Yes, yes, yes." Always in that moment, what Swāmījī teaches us is when somebody with such emotion comes to you, "Yes, yes, okay. Yes, I made a mistake. Please give me that ring once more to see." And Hanumanjī put his hand inside, and he felt that it was not only one ring, but so many rings inside. And he put it out and opened his fist. And he saw that inside were 10, 20, the same rings, and suddenly, "What is this?" And the sage, this ṛṣi, said to him, "Every time when Viṣṇu incarnates on the earth, he gives me a token of appreciation, love, a ring." In that moment, Hanuman realized what is very important also for us to understand: there were so many before us, and there will be so many after us. And that dog was thinking, "I am a doer." And finally, he was disappointed. Because if he thinks, "I am a doer; without me, this world will stop. Everything is working only because of me. That chariot is going only because of me. I am a great organizer." No. Only what is important for us is to understand and to pray to be the tool. We are something like a hammer, and a hammer is happy when somebody takes it and works with it, because without that hand, the hammer is just sitting somewhere in the corner. And always be aware and pray. Please, God, give me opportunity. Give me a chance to be your tool. Because in that moment, when you are a tool of the divine force, in that moment that divine force is flowing through you, and you feel completely different. You know this? Yes. When you are leading a yoga class, when you start "Naha Prabhudeep Karata, Naha Prabhudeep Karata Hikevalam," and you start the yoga class. Maybe at the beginning of yoga class, you feel, "Oh my God." But after yoga class, you feel full of energy. Why? Because you said, "Nāhaṁkartā." And in that moment you pray, "Please, God, please, Mahāprabhujī, please, Iṣṭadevatā." Because in that moment you pray, "Please, Gurudeva, please, Mahāprabhujī, please, Iṣṭadevatā, the one you have, please give me the opportunity to serve, to be a tool." And in that moment, that divine energy flows through you. It is not only leading yoga class, any seva, any karma yoga, but it is very important to be invisible. Because if you are visible and you do some good karma, and you expect that you will gain some nice paper with your name, and you put it on the wall in your office, and that everybody who enters that room sees immediately this paper, and somehow you stand in front of this paper. We lose everything. Because of that, it's nicely said in the Bible: when you pray, when you're fasting, make that you have nice hair. They said, "Put oil in the hair," what means you look good, you look great. And what we are doing? Also, we put this hook because we want that everybody sees that something is happening. What is with you? Nothing, nothing. You know that play? That is the common play. Nothing, nothing, but I will tell you. I'm fasting. Why? Why does everybody need to know that you are fasting? That is your private thing, but I am better than you. I am fasting, and you? And also, they said when you pray, go in your room and close your room. Not because you are scared that somebody will see you or you are ashamed of that. No, we are not ashamed about this, but if you do it openly, you are showing it. Last time when we flew to India, I saw one girl. In this, I will not say hippie dress, but I will say, in this new age dress, what you first want to wash completely, her and dress, and on the terminal where we wait, she puts on the floor a mobile phone and starts to lead a yoga class for the people online. And in that moment I was thinking, oh my God. If I do not know Vishwa Gurujī and nothing about Śrī Alak Purujī Siddha, about yoga and daily life, then I will see that yoga will not be for me. Because that is not yoga. That is some showing. That is some ego trip. And that is not our path. Always be aware of Hanumānjī when he realized that a lot, and so many, was before him and so much will be after him, and only pray for grace, for great luck, to get the opportunity to be the tool. And what, in the beginning, in the moment when Hanumānjī had such an idea, Rama immediately saw this, and he gave the cure. Sometimes cure is not pleasant, because they said in Latin, I will not talk in Latin, but they said that the bitter thing is curing, and sweet is making that you become ill. And that is one of the rules. Usually, the medicine is not sweet. Medicine is usually not so pleasant. But we need, and Gojudev is what Swami Jil said. Not others. That Gurudev can function like a spoon. Today we talked about coffee in one moment. And when you have Turkish coffee, not that espresso, but Turkish coffee, You have, if it's good coffee, you have two fingers of the mud down. And if you wait, you will have clear coffee up and mud down. But the guru is a spoon and a little stir. And in that moment, you realize that you have a lot of this mud in your mouth. And thank you for that, Viśva Gurujī. It is not pleasant when you are stirring us inside. The medicine is not pleasant, but we know that we need medicine. And I always say that it's completely normal if we are angry. Don't be, "Oh my God, I am angry. I have bad thoughts." It's normal. We are near the centrifuge. And the function of the centrifuge is in the washing machine. How will you wash your dirty laundry? You need to put the detergent. You have mantra, you have blessing, you have everything, but you need it all the time. And I think that our laundry is not happy when it's in the washing machine. But after that, they have such a nice smell. But it's one problem. Paramhaṁsa Yogānanda said very nicely, When you have a nice coat, You know, in the previous century, this heavy coat. Like a Gurujī, and you have such a coat, and you enter, like in Vienna in the previous century, this coffee, this café, yes, café or something, yes, and people are, especially in that time, smoking and reading the newspapers. You just enter in and immediately go out. But your coat will, for weeks and weeks, have the smell of the cigarette. And that is our life. What Vishwagurujī said: if you see some muddy lake, and even you are not throwing the stones inside—what means you are not making anything bad—but you are near that lake, and you know that such kind of lake makes the methane, this gas. And sometimes it looks like when you are cooking the polenta. And make a bloop, and if you are near, that bloop will make you dirty. And a few days ago, we talked about Ahiṃsā, and we talked about the great soul, the great Pitājī Bhīṣma. They said that he was all the time in the white dress. That is also symbolic. Why? Viśvagorājī explained that it means our life is something like a cold mind, and we need to come into that cold mind in a white dress. And when we go out of that cold mind, our dress remains white. That is also in the bhajan of Kabīrdās about Chadariyā. For that, it's not easy. Here, these three weeks of seminar, darśan, satsaṅgs—everybody of us was in the washing machine, and now it's important that this white dress we try to keep as long as is possible. And thank you for that, Viśvagurujī. That we know that is important because so many people in the world are living without knowledge, without at all thinking about what we are talking about here. And to get the opportunity to hear something about this, it is wow, so great a thing, and especially when we try to do something, it is excellent. And because of that, don't be, "I'm not good, I'm bad." No, no, no. You want to do something for yourself. And when you do something for yourself, immediately that will have such a big impact on society. Because I know in the previous time, I heard so many times, "Oh, I can't enter in the public transport." People are so negative. Oh, that is the rākṣasa around me. As if they were Rākṣasas around me. It means that we are not yogīs. If we are yogīs, we will go into hell, and through our thoughts, through our feelings, we will make heaven from hell. Yes? Remember this previous time. Yes, and we will do this. Not only try to keep the clean dress, but we will try to let the light, which we gain from Viśvagurujī, spread around us. Ale snažte se to světlo, co získáváme od Viśvagurujīho, šířit dál. Svýdý pánům, Bhagavad Gītě.
