Be joyful

The Guru's light manifests on earth as pure knowledge, requiring a living guide for correct spiritual practice. This divine principle, the Guru Tattva, is the same in all true teachers, yet disciples share an intimate, familial connection with their own. The guru's physical form is a vessel for this light; entering its radiant aura transforms one's energy. Even in the guru's physical absence, gathering with devotion in satsaṅg magnetically draws that divine presence. The quality of satsaṅg depends on the participants' internal energy. Approach it not as obligation but with joy, for your own energy determines the atmosphere. To elevate personal energy, engage in singing bhajans. Consciously replace negative thoughts with positive ones to rewire the mind toward happiness. A spiritual life must be a life of joy and inspiration, rooted in the constant feeling of connection to the divine.

"When bhaktas are together and singing my name, thinking on me, the Hari, the God, that divine energy comes to that place."

"Satsaṅg is not an obligation, but satsaṅg is a joy."

I recall Swāmījī once said, "I was observing one person who was practicing Kriyā under the tree." I heard how he practiced, but I never gave such a technique. You know, when people begin to practice Kriyā, it is like riding a motorbike. Swāmījī, by God's grace, corrects this with us. But you know, many people, even when they hear from Swāmījī, say, "Yes, yes," but he told me in meditation. And how many times have you also heard from Swāmījī? Why would I give you something through that when you are able to come to me and ask? For that kind of correction, it is so important to have a guru. That is the light which has come here on the earth. That light is the pure light—without any dispute, any strange fantasy, and everything else—but pure knowledge. Because of that, the birthday, the day of incarnation of such a guru, is so important for disciples. You know how it is in Christianity with Christmas? You know what happens during Christmas time? Yes, you know everything. All the time, there is the tree, the Christmas tree, singing songs, and everything like that. But for us, the day of incarnation of Mahāprabhujī, the day of incarnation of Swāmījī, Gurujī, is Christmas. But even more than Christmas, because that is our guru. We are not fighting over which guru is the highest or which guru is better than others. We know that all light is the same light. All fire is the same fire. Whether a candle, matchstick, or big fire, the element of the fire is the same. The same thing is with the Guru Tattva. In each Guru is the Guru Tattva. But, always but. For us, we have such a connection. That is, our Guru is for us our father and mother. Your family, you have more intimate feelings, more love for your Guru. For us, today is Christmas. Yes. Why not do this? Make each other presents? Why not? It is the festival. It is the light come on the earth. We know many times we talk that the guru is not the physical form. Swāmījī gave this picture about matchboxes. If you put a diamond in a matchbox, of course, you will have a different approach to that matchbox. The box is a box, the body is a body, but what is inside is what is important. That divine light, that Guru Tattva, is in that body, and because of that, of course, the whole body, everything is radiating that kind of energy. When we have a darśan, which means to see, that is changing our energy. Because when we enter into the Ābhā Maṇḍala, this aura of a divine person, we are like a spoon put in honey. If we are a metal spoon or a ceramic spoon, we will not catch the taste. We joke that if we are like Teflon, it just lets it go from us. But if we are like a wooden spoon, the taste, even after washing, will remain. When we enter into the Ābhā Maṇḍal of the temple, the Ābhā Maṇḍal of Gurudev, we enter into that energy and our energy is changing. Okay, but Swāmījī is not here. It doesn't matter. You know, from Strelka, Swāmījī said so many times, "We are together. I am always with you." You know from the Guru Gītā: when bhaktas are together and singing my name, thinking on me, the Hari, the God, that divine energy comes to that place. What does it mean? All of us are here because of Viśva Gurujī. We are thinking of him; he is in our thoughts, in our feelings. This means we are here like a magnet, and we are attracting that kind of energy. Of course, everything also depends on us. If we are a good, strong magnet, that kind of divine energy will immediately come here. If we don't care about everything, in that case, it’s a little different. We need to have fire inside. Only when we have fire inside—that energy, that love, everything—but with this fire, pure, sāttvika, immediately that energy comes here. The Guru Tattva is here. Swāmījī is here. And we are in that Ābhā Maṇḍal, and that is changing us. How will we know that this happened? We are full of energy. We are full of prāṇa. We don’t need to eat; we don’t need anything because that prāṇa is with us. And every satsaṅg depends. How can a satsaṅg depend on us? If we come to the satsaṅg thinking, "I must come to satsaṅg," like you must go to church on Sunday... If you don't go every Sunday to the church, you will go to the priest and say, "Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa," and you will get something to pray because you sinned by not being in church every Sunday. But those who have real faith inside, and bhakti, they go every morning at five o’clock to the church, with joy. That is completely different. The same thing is for us. Satsaṅg is not an obligation, but satsaṅg is a joy. If other people are not enjoying that, no problem. If you enter public transport and start to talk, "Oh my god, in public transport people are so ugly, so smelly, so negative," it's like a... Rākṣasa. "I can’t travel in public transport." It means that our nervous system and our energy are very weak. We haven't done anything with our spiritual life. But if we have strong energy and our spiritual life is good, we will be able to enter into hell, and from hell we will make heaven. Yes, yes. You have one video—not only one, many, many videos—but before, there was only one on YouTube. A man entered public transport, and everybody at that time was not on mobile phones so often, but everybody was in a different, motherly mood. He started to laugh. In the beginning, people were looking at this crazy man, but after a minute, people started to change their faces. In the end, everybody was laughing. And he just went away from that train. That is it: we need to be such a person. If we are such a person, we will change the atmosphere around us. Immediately, we will make that satsaṅg completely different. Never complain, "Oh, that is not good energy." Yes, it is not good energy because you are in not good energy. If you are in good energy, you will create good energy. You know from before, from your previous life before you became a disciple. You know some party. You know that at the party, the atmosphere is so bad. But one person enters and completely changes the atmosphere, and that party becomes good. And also the opposite: a good atmosphere, a good vibe, and somebody enters inside and completely spoils it. It is good if you want to make paneer, and what Umapurījī said this morning on this nice subject, maybe inside there will be good paneer. In that case, it’s okay. But try to be something that makes a good atmosphere. If all of us have a good atmosphere, it will be more than heaven. For that, we have bhajans. When you want to change the energy of your house, change the energy of what is inside you: start to sing bhajans. If you don’t know how to sing bhajans, no matter. Put on a CD or something, and sing with it. That is excellent. I remember Swāmījī said many times: when you are not inspired to practice—because it’s normal, every day is not the same, all day is not the same—what does it mean that sometimes you are high and sometimes you are down? When you are down, it is hard to practice. Tell yourself, "Okay, today is not my day," and put on bhajans nicely, sing bhajans, and immediately you will see that your energy is changed and you are able to start. In the morning, you know what is the first? "I am a human." And second, "Today will not be today. Today is the most beautiful day." With those thoughts, we will slowly make our life and our day good. If we start today with, "I hate myself, I hate my life, I hate my job, I hate my family, I want to be in bed," you know, life will be a disaster. If you feel like this, okay, you have every right to feel this. You are not guilty. If you feel this way, it’s fine, you have every right to feel this way; you are not guilty of anything. But immediately change. That is advice from Patañjali. When you have such thoughts, just say to yourself, "Delete, delete. I don’t want this, I don’t want this," and change into positive thoughts. Okay? In the beginning, it is fake, but slowly, slowly we will reorganize our brain. That is modern language: the neuroplasticity of the brain. Synapses will go in another way, and we will make from the sad brain the happy brain. But that was already told. Patañjali told this many, many, many centuries before now, what is in the science. For us, it’s Christmas today. Yes? Yes. Thank God that we have two different calendars. We have this lunar calendar, and we have a solar calendar. Now we will celebrate Swāmījī’s birthday, and on the 15th we will celebrate Swāmījī’s birthday. For everyone, we have two times. What is excellent? And what is the best way to celebrate? With singing, with joy. During the bhajans, try also to be active. Try to sing, try to be active, not just sit. Be active, and immediately you will feel a difference inside. You will have that joy, you will feel that energy, and that energy will change you. Completely our life will change, because our spiritual life should be full of joy. Suffering is not good. Why suffer? Our life is enough for suffering. But our spiritual life should be full of joy, inspiration, energy, and bliss. Read bhajans, and you will see that always this yogī is full of joy, full of divine feelings, okay? In some bhajans, you have that sweet pain in your heart. That is this love when you feel that you are separated from your beloved one. But in reality, you are never separated from your beloved one. We should feel all the time this connection, that our Guru, our Iṣṭa Devatā, is with you all the time. When you have such feelings, you have this somehow sweet pain; you are not physical. But also, you have inside another feeling that is not suffering. It is something like when somebody is in love. Because of that, they said of God that He is a thief, and God is the thief because He stole our heart. Now we will sing bhajans, and that is for us the most important day, that is more than Christmas. So, you deep number one, a key jam.
