In the cave of Sri Alakhpuriji

The disciple's bliss arises solely from the Guru's grace. A story illustrates this truth. Initially, entry into a sacred cave was restricted. Permission was granted for meditation inside. The initial feeling of specialness was present. The intense cold within the cave eventually overcame that feeling. The experience culminated in a fervent prayer for departure. The eventual exit felt like a deliverance. Following this, certain devotional songs arrived as a cool blessing. One such song is based on an essential phrase. That phrase was instructed to be displayed and read daily. An experiment was conducted to set this phrase to melody. The resulting composition allows the meaning to be heard and felt.

"Guru Kṛpāhi Kevalaṁ Śiṣyake Ānandamaṅgalam."

"Print out this sentence with big letters and stick it on the place where you go the most, and read it every day."

I just remembered a short story about the kīrtans. It was during the time when we were in the Himalayas with Viśva Gurujī. I think for the first few days we were not allowed to go into the cave of Śrī Alakpurījī; we could only greet from outside and then move away. Then one day, we were sitting outside the cave, and Swamiji said to me, "You go in and meditate; you will get good inspiration." I felt very special in that moment, that nobody could go, but I could. It was quite warm, so I was just wearing a t-shirt, I think, and I went into the cave. Five minutes passed. I sat in meditation, feeling special. Ten minutes, fifteen minutes. Then, after twenty minutes, I was so cold—because it was cold inside the cave—that my specialness froze very much, and I started to pray about how to get out of that cave. After about forty-five minutes, when I thought, "I'm going, I'm leaving this place," someone came in to do something, some rearrangement, and basically delivered the message that I was allowed to go out. But anyhow, some kīrtans did arrive after that, as a cool blessing of Śrī Alakpurījī. And this one is one of them. You may know this sentence that the Holy Gurujī apparently very much liked to say: Guru Kṛpāhi Kevalaṁ Śiṣyake Ānandamaṅgalam. When Viśva Gurujī was in New Zealand, he told us, "Print out this sentence with big letters and stick it on the place where you go the most, and read it every day." And do you know what it means? Guru Kṛpā Hi Kevalam is, as far as I know, that all you need is the Guru’s grace. That is what makes the disciple blissful and full of joy. So one day I just sat down and thought, "Make an experiment to put this into some melody and then something more with it, so you can hear and see what you think." So now you can listen and see what happened inside. Śiṣyake Ānandamaṅgalam Pahikevalam Śiṣyake Ānandamaṅgalam Guru Kṛpāhikevalam Śiṣyake Ānandamaṅgalam Jai Gurudev Jai Jai... Vipāyī kevalaṁ śiṣyake ānandamaṅgalaṁ, Vipāyī kevalaṁ śiṣyake ānandamaṅgalaṁ. Kripāyī kevalaṁ śiṣyake ānandamaṅgalaṁ, Vipāyī kevalaṁ śiṣyake ānandamaṅgalaṁ. Jaya Rudhe, jaya jaya... Kṛpāhi kevalaṁ śiṣyake ānandamaṅgalam. Kṛpā ai kevalaṁ śiṣyake ānandamaṅgalaṁ Jaya, Jaya,... J
