Satsanhg on the anniversary of Sri Devpuriji's Mahasamadhi

Celebrating the Mahāsamādhi of Param Yogeśwar Śrī Devpurījī Mahārāj is a night of remembrance, miracles, and awakening.

Mahāsamādhi is not death; great Gurus consciously leave the body and merge with the Supreme. This night commemorates Śrī Devpurījī’s divine play. He revived a bride who collapsed at her wedding. During a drought, he led villagers to dig where water appeared. He restored life to birds killed by a hunter. A childless couple received laddus from him, and a child was born. Such miracles are not magic but grace to inspire faith. The Guru’s energy flows through the Paramparā. On this night, meditation deepens, and bhajans overflow with devotion. The time to awaken from lifetimes of slumber is now. Inner doors must be opened; effort is required. Let the lamp of the Self be lit. Where faith exists, God appears. The teachings are a boat across the ocean of existence. Remember the Guru’s glory and let it become a film for the soul. The divine light is ever-present; feel it within.

"Great yogīs, great gurus, they can choose when they want to go."

"Where there is Bhāv, there is Bhagavān."

Filming location: Strilky, Czech Republic

Hari Om and good evening to all of you who are present here and those who are watching through Swamiji TV. Today, on the occasion of Śrī Devpurījī Mahārāj’s Mahāsamādhi Day, we prepared something unique. Until now we liked stories, you know, we like to share stories. And more than listening, it’s easy to watch. So please enjoy the beautiful performance. It took a few hours of preparation, so I hope you enjoy it. The first story, or the first līlā, of Śrī Devpurījī Mahārāj goes alongside his divine miracles, which we all read in the book of Līlā Amṛt. It will be the one where a marriage ceremony was happening, with the bride and groom and the whole bharat. The wedding ceremony—so the bride and groom will come. But something tragic happens at the wedding. "Are you okay? Are you okay? I think she’s dead." So while in the beautiful, serene atmosphere of the ashram, Devpurījī Mahārāj was sitting and meditating. Sat Devpurījī Mahārāj and meditated. And the family of the girl who just passed away brought the child to Śrī Devpurījī Mahārāj. They had some hope towards Devpurījī, and they believed that Devpurījī would bring her back to life. So now let’s get back to the āśram where Devpurījī is sitting. Devpurījī is sitting with his bhaktas, meditating, and now the father will come with the daughter. "Help us, please help us, my daughter has died." "She is not dead. She is going to be a mother. Wake up from the meditation, my dear." Thank you so much. Our cheerleaders are sometimes a little bit slow, but okay. So this is the first līlā which Devpurījī performed. So that was the first meal that Devpurījī made. The second one was where there was no water in the village, where there was drought, and they needed to gain water because it was dry everywhere. Devpurījī was seated in his beautiful āśram, and the villagers came to him. The second story is about how it was very dry in the village, people didn’t have water, it was dry everywhere, and Devpurījī was sitting in his beautiful āśram. Devpurījī is arriving with his bhaktas slowly. "Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya." And the villagers slowly come and approach and make praṇām to Devpurījī Mahārāj. "We don’t have any water. We don’t have anything to drink. Help us. Devpurījī, could you help us? We have no water, we have nothing to drink." "Don’t worry, I will show you where to dig a well." So now Devpurījī is proceeding somewhere. And Devpurījī will now lead. That’s what Gurus do: they lead, they be the example, instead of letting others do. "Devpurījī, let us do it. We will dig it ourselves." Water appeared in the wind. And this is the beauty, and these are the miracles which Devpurījī had. That, where there was drought, where there was no water, there he brought water from nowhere. And the third example of the third līlā, which we would like to share, is one very famous one, which we all know and have heard many times. It is where Śrī Devpurījī brought the dead birds or the dead people back to life. The līlās, the beautiful miracles which are performed—it’s not a performance. Gurus are not magicians. But sometimes to help the people, it’s not done as a magic show, but it is done in a way where people see it. So now, the hunter is hunting the birds, and the birds are falling down from the sky. The hunter is hunting, and he’s collecting them and putting all the birds in his basket. And he is doing it in the middle of the jungle, and slowly, after collecting all the birds, he is walking towards his home. His home is somewhere, and Śrī Devpurījī comes on the same path where he was heading home to, and Devpurījī asks, "What do you have in the basket?" "Nothing." "I know there is something in there. Show me." "No, there is nothing, just food for my family." And then he tries to escape, but therefore he blesses the basket, and all the birds come to life. And he tries to run away, but in the end, he goes to this basket, and all the birds come back to life and fly away. Oṁ Śalāk Purījī Mahādeva Kī Jai, Devādhideva Deveśvara Mahādeva Kī Jai, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jai, Hindu Dharma Saṁdhāra Paramaṁtha Svāmī Śrī Mādhavānanda Purījī Satguru Deva Bhagavān Kī Jai, Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Maheśvarānanda Purī. Jī, Gurujī, Gurujī, Devakī, Jai Seva, Seva, Śambhu. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jai, Devadhā Devadeva Viśvarā Mahādeva Kī Jai. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jai. Indra, Dharma, Samrāṭ, Paramātmā, Svāmī Śrī Mādhava, Anantapurījī, Sadgurudeva Bhagavān Kī Jai. Viśvaguru, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Paramātmā, Svāmī Śrī Maheśvarānanda Purījī, Gurudeva Kī Jai. Avatārpūrījī Mahārāj Kī Jai, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvarānanda Purījī Mahārāj Kī Jai. So once again, while the kids are coming for prasāda, I would like to express my deepest thanks to Swami Avatārapurījī. Because I think that in his busy schedule, it is so great that he gives so much time to the children. He spent several hours with us this afternoon and really went through each part of the story. And I think it is very important that we give attention to the children. Because Vasant was mentioning a few weeks ago that many people are getting old. And I think that’s what they really got today, and the other days they are getting. I had the greatest luck that I could grow up with Viśvagurujī. We were here from the first seminar in 1995. And I remember we were playing football with Viśvagurujī, and we had a lot of fun together. And you know, for the kids, they still probably don’t get everything from the satsaṅg. For them, it’s a long time sitting silent. But I think these moments are the things that really get them to be here and to enjoy. And a few years ago, I was crying here, wishing for the same thing I had for my son. I came back to my childhood, and it was nice to, how do you call it, direct a movie, so all the ideas which I had in my childhood I implemented somehow. So it was nice, and the kids are also very patient and very nice. Only we had one naughty kid, Bhakti Gananda, otherwise everything was okay. Great souls, great maharṣis, great divine ātmās like Śrī Devpurījī Mahārāj. It’s not that they die. Because sometimes it’s funny for people to hear when we say we are celebrating their Mahāsamādhi, and sometimes it comes to people seriously when we say that we celebrate the anniversary of Mahāsamādhi, or we celebrate the anniversary of their death. But great Mahāpuruṣas, great souls, great mahātmās, great sādhus, yogīs, they do not die. They become one with the Supreme Self again. As Mahāmaṇḍaleśvarjī Phulpurījī was mentioning yesterday or the day before yesterday, the great Gurus from our lineage incarnate to help their bhaktas, all of us. As Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar Phulpurījī was mentioning yesterday or the day before yesterday, the great Gurus from our lineage incarnate to help their bhaktas, all of us. And they are the ones who actually come to this earth to help us achieve our ultimate goal of self-realization or liberation. And great Mahāpuruṣas, they don’t die, they take Mahāsamādhi. Us normal humans, one day we don’t wake up. But great yogīs, great gurus, they can choose when they want to go. Like yesterday we were sharing, or the day before yesterday, I don’t know when I was sharing, how Śrī Devpurījī Mahārāj went into Mahāsamādhi. Already in the evening, one night before, he announced that he would be leaving his physical body the next morning. And the next morning, after showering and getting ready, he sat in his posture and he left. Mahā means great, and samādhi means being in that state where we are out. When we go into samādhi, then you can go out and come back. When you go into mahāsamādhi, then you are. So the day when Śrī Devpurījī Mahārāj was again united with the Supreme Self, that day is not for mourning, but for celebration of what he has done throughout his life. How many bhaktas he liberated, how many devotees he brought back to life. All his life is remembered in this beautiful night. On this night, if we meditate, we will go deeper. If we sing bhajans, we will feel the bhakti-rasa even more than on normal days. If we sit in bhajans and enjoy the bhajans or the satsaṅgs, then you will feel that knowledge going much more than normal. So today is the day, the night, where we need to awaken. We are asleep, but it is time to wake up. We slept enough. How many lives were we sleeping? This life is not for sleeping anymore. We have Gurudeva’s blessings and kṛpā, and with that we open up, we awaken, we open the closed doors which we have shut inside of us. We have Gurudeva’s blessings and kṛpā, and with that, we open the closed doors which we have shut inside of us. Until that feeling that bhāva is not within us, our doors will be shut. But today, if we let go of all our complexes and surrender fully, then everything will awaken, everything will open up. But the efforts have to be taken by us. The initiative has to be taken by us. We are getting that push from the back, but the legs have to move. And that is our job. So on this beautiful night, let us all be present. Let us all invoke the Paramparā, Devpurījī, Swāmījī inside of us. Let us feel them inside of us. And let us put more ghee in our lamp, which is lit by them inside of us. Let us glow, let us shine like never before. May Gurudev’s blessings be always with us. May He protect us, guide us, and show us the right path. And may we open. Remove every problem, remove everything, and everything will be okay. So, today, every bhajan is full of energy, every kīrtan is full of energy, every word coming out of Phulpurījī’s mouth, every word which is happening in the satsaṅg, feel it, experience it, live it. How will you go home tomorrow? How will you stay here? When will you go to sleep? When will the child come? When will what come? Forget that. What you did, what you didn’t do in the morning, in the afternoon, yesterday, in the past—forget it. Now we are sitting together here in this hall. Part 2: The Divine Light of Paramparā: A Satsang in Remembrance of Śrī Devpurījī The energy of Gurudeva, the energy of Śrī Devpurījī, of the Paramparā, is flowing through each and every one of our hearts. Let us look within, see it and feel it, and be that divine light. And after that, in this place: Svasti prajābhyaḥ paripālayantāṁ nyāyena mārgeṇa mahīṁ mahīśāḥ. Gobrāhmaṇebhyaḥ śubhamastu nityaṁ lokāḥ samastāḥ sukhino bhavantu. Oṁ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ. Oṁ Śālapurījī Mahādeva Kī Jai, Devādideva Mahādeva Kī Jai, Śrīdīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jai, Hindudhanam Samrāṭ Paramahaṁsa Svāmī Śrī Mādhavānanda Purījī Sat Gurudeva, Bhagavān, Kī Jai, Viśvaguru, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvarānanda, Maheśvarānanda Purījī, Gurujī, Gurujī,... Gurujī, You all filled up your stomachs; without that, bhajans are not possible. You all filled up your stomachs; our stomachs are still empty. So after Fulburījī’s speech, we will go and have dinner. We will make it as quick as possible. In the meantime, the bhajans will continue, and chai will be outside. More details will come from the organizers later. And after that, we have a more beautiful program—but I will tell you when we come back. Suspense, surprise, you know. Otherwise, you know, I talk with no expectations. Gurur Brahmā, Gurur Viṣṇu, Gurur Devo Maheśvara, Gurur Sākṣāt Parabrahma, Tasmai Śrī Guruve Namaḥ. Śrī Alakhpurīśī Mahādeva Kī, Śrī Devpurīśī Mahādeva Kī, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī, Hindu Dharma Samrāṭ Madhavānandajī Bhagavān Kī, Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Yogī Rāja, Parampitā. Parameśvara, Parampūjī, Satguru Dev Kī, Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī, Śrī Jaya, Salutations to Alakhpurījī, Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā, My Adoration to Viśvagurujī’s Holy Lotus Feet, Respected Brother Avatārapurījī, Viśvagurujī’s Successor, All Yogīs, Yatīs, Sannyāsīs present here in this holy place, And all the divine devotees, yoga and daily life, and the fellowship around the world and present here. The Living Light Mahāprabhujī Satsaṅg Foundation, Strilky, Czech Republic. Many blessings to all of you from Alakhpurījī, Siddha Pīṭh Paramparā, and as well from Viśvagurūjī. As you all know, for three or four weeks we have been here in this divine place where we are now. We call in Hindi, “Yathā Nāma Tathā Guṇāḥ”—as the name, so the energy, and as their beauty. Living light, the living light: living is always life, is prāṇa. Light, you know, it’s sparkling each and every place where the light is—this place is sparkling. Mahāprabhujī, Mahā, you know, this great deep is himself light. Satsang Foundation: Satsang is, we are here always doing satsaṅg. Means the truth, we are getting the truth and reality, knowledge for our ātmā, our soul. What is called satsaṅg? Satsaṅg means truth. Satsaṅg means the group or the union. There are two parts, one Satsaṅg and one Kusang. Satsaṅg, so Vishwagurujī established this ashram, the name is Satsaṅg Foundation. Foundation, you know, where this is established, the first stone. So we are all the blessed ones, the luckiest ones, and Vishwagurujī’s blessing that he sent Swami Avatarpurījī, myself, to be with you in satsaṅg union. So we are here today to preach, to learn, to listen, to read the spiritual scripture and knowledge, which is our paramparā. This is given to us, in front of us. Like an example, the thali, they are full of delicious food, they are given in front of you, and now you need to eat. This delicious food will give us physicality, humanity, and nourishment. Similarly, our bhajans, our mantras, our Guru’s glories, and all that Gurudev gave to us in the many, many books written there for us, for our mind’s purpose. And this is for us, for peace, harmony, and happiness, inner joy, not only outer joy. When inner joy comes, outer joy will automatically come. That is one mantra; it is called mantra. Mantra means man; man means mind. And tra means to float on the, like a boat is going on the river or on the ocean. Tra is like when something floats, when a boat floats on a river or on the sea. Mantra ho jaye. When we get satisfaction, then our boat goes on the river. Similarly, in the scriptures, there are two worlds, two oceans, Bhavasāgara, one is of water and the other is without water. That is water, ocean. We can swim inside, or we can go by boat inside, etc., different, different technological ways. But how to swim without an ocean of water? This is scriptures, bhajans, mantras, anuṣṭhāna. They are leading us. And that thanks go, and credit goes to our paramparā, to the ṛṣis who give us the nectar. Similarly, today is a divine day for us, as we remember our beloved, beloved Bhagavān Śrī Devpurījī Mahārāj. Thank you very much, dear Avatārpuri Jī, for making it possible for us to see the performance so well, to see the real way Devpurījī was there, and how miracles happened at that time. I remember that holy Gurujī’s time when he was last time, his last time. He wished to make a film about Mahāprabhujī’s glory, so Leela Amrit’s film. That day I remember today, and I remind dear Tharpurjī that the same thing Holī Gurujī was thinking, and he wanted to have Mahāprabhujī’s whole Līlā Amṛt in the film, like the Rāmāyaṇa. But now, the plus point: now Mahāprabhujī’s Līlā Amṛta and Devpurījī’s glory should also be added there. So, with Avatārapurījī’s gleams or his ideas, if you all support, this glory will come for us like nectar for us all. It’s like the Rāmāyaṇa serial. Shiv Puran serial. In India, there are many, many ṛṣis, Pramukh Swāmī, Nārāyaṇa Swāmī, very great ṛṣis also in India, and they have such, they are also glory. They make such films. So that film is inspiring to people, easy to remember, and easy to learn. This is all they receive, glories. So it is our duty to take this boat further for other people. Satguru nām jahāj he, sadeśo par utre. Who is the Satguru nām jahāj? This is a boat, one boat. We are sitting in the boat. So we are here on one boat. Sardākar seve, with adoration, with the faith, where there is Bhāv, there is Bhagavān. Where there is faith, where there is adoration towards God, there God appears. Bhāva meṅ na pahe, vastu meṁ nahīṁ. Bhava, the faith, the adoration, that is of value. Vastu me nahi, vastu means the items, like gold, now it is maybe five lakh, and after ten days it can grow to ten lakhs. The bhāva, the price is grown, the item didn’t grow, it’s as it is. This is Mahāprabhujī and Holy Gurujī’s words. Bhag bhala jagar sant padhare, Bhag bhala jagar sant padhare. This is Kabīrdājī’s bhajan. So, Devpurījī’s glory, Devpurījī’s blessing, Devpurījī’s miracles. Hari ananta, Hari kathā ananta, kaheya suneye, bhāuvidhi, sab santah. This is Rāmāyaṇa, this Tulsīdās wrote in Rāmāyaṇa. Hari Ananta, Hari Katha Ananta, Kahi Sunaye, Bahuvidhi Sabh Santa. Hari means God’s glory. God is endless, names God. So, Hari is the God, and His eternal glory is endless, indescribable. Day and night, you can describe or drink this nectar, you will enjoy, enjoy. Nepopsatelná. Kaha hi, sunahi, bahu vidhi, sab santa, kaha hi means preaching. Sunahi means listening, and poslouchání. Bahu vidhi, different, different ways. Různými způsoby. Bahu Śānta means saint, glory, devotee, bhaktas, yogī, sant, sannyāsīs, all those who are day and night waiting for God, name and God, nectar, name and God, glories. So Devpurījī’s glory is endless, I remember one more glory there, no? Miracle, glory, and miracle. Devpurījī’s glory is endless, and I remembered another one of his miracles. It was near Katu somewhere, that he called one disciple, Lakṣmī Nārāyaṇ Paṇḍit, I think, and he did not have a son. And he was praying at different places, and he went to different saints. And one day he noticed that Devpurījī is here somewhere around. Devpurījī was sitting under one tree, it’s called Khejli. Khejli, you know, they were getting some fruits or for sabjī, that’s saṅgrī. And Devpurījī was sitting under the tree. He, his wife and husband, both reached there. They make praṇām and they ask, “Gurudeva, our house has no light there.” We, God, know that you can bless and you can give light in our house. Devpurījī said he was thinking first. And he told that there is my jolī. Jolī means some kind of bag, like our bag. This is called jolī. We keep jolī like this, some kind like this. There are some laddus; take as much as you can. So he put his hand inside, and he got four laddus. And he saw that, Gurujī, I got it. And Devpurījī said, “Okay, take it, you are home.” With cosmic light, your wish will be fulfilled. After nine or ten months, Devpurījī went there. Devpurījī went to Dikṣu, and in their house, the children were playing there. And they were very glad that Devpurījī, you blessed us, you gave light to my house, you gave the prāṇa to us. Please, Devpurījī, from time to time, come and bless us. And Devpurījī told them that this is light for your house; it came with cosmic light. But Devpurījī is always going here and there; he never stays in one place. After many years passed, and the disciple was searching for where Devpurījī was, they did not find Devpurījī, but they reached Mahāprabhujī’s place, and they told this story, and that message got to Holī Gurujī also. And Holi Guruji wrote Nila Amrit. There are disciples living in Patna, some disciples living in Patna, you know, so far from Rajasthan. Some people living near Kathu, some people living near our Pali district, where our ashram is, their family always told us this story, this Devpurījī’s blessing. This is Devpurījī’s great bhajan. This bhajan was written by Devpurījī. Esa Bholā Śambhu Dekhyā Sādhu Tapadhārī, Tapadhārī O Leri Dhundhārī. Tapadārī O Nerī Dhunāidhārī The beautiful, the divine heart opens, and after comes the aroma out. Devotion towards the Guru or God. Īśa Bholā Śambhu Dekhyā Sādhu Tapadhārī. Now we don’t have so much translation time. It means that Mahāprabhujī describes this glory of Mahādev Purījī, how he looked. Yes, a bholā samudhe kya sādhu tapadhārī? Sādhu means a yogī or saint. Tapadhārī means the one who is doing tapasyā. Tapadhārī is the one who does tapasyā. Jata Mukta means he is Jata, hair, you know. Ganga is there, residing there, Ganga. Ganga is when the Ganga flows. Ganga is water coming, sound, natural, you know. When you hear the water, the Gaṅgā or some, especially Gaṅgā water flowing from the Himalayas, the sound is coming, that sound is Har Har... Śabdo Uccāri. Har means Hari, Hari... Hari. Ho Viṣṇu, Ho Viṣṇu... is singing and see flowing further, Gaṅgā. As if you could hear the sound of Gaṅgā coming from the Himalayas. Mahādev, Śrī Devpurījī, Nirakāra Avatārī, this is the last point, the last line. And the last line? Even Mahāprabhujī came in form, but I don’t know when Mahāprabhujī came on this earth. We don’t have a date. Do any of you know Mahāprabhujī’s incarnation date? This is Mahāprabhujī, Devpurījī, sorry, Devpurījī. No, pardon, Devpurījī, I thought Devpurījī. Devpurījī’s incarnation day. We don’t have a date. So Mahāprabhujī wrote Nirakāra, Mahādev, Śrī Devpurījī, Mahādev, Śiva. Devpurījī, his name came after, like, when he came on this earth. Nirākāra, formless. Avatāra means the one who came on this earth, incarnation. Swāmī Dīp means Mahāprabhujī, Swāmī Dīp, Śaraṇ, Badīhārī. Mahāprabhujī is saying, “I bow down, Devpurījī, Gurujī, on your holy lotus feet.” So this is the beautiful glory of Mahāprabhujī. You will read it, and you will get a translation along with it. Now, for further time for satsaṅg, it is only nine o’clock. So I hope that all who are here today, everyone who is singing or wishes to sing, enjoys this great atmosphere and sings and learns the beautiful glory of Mahāprabhujī. This nectar will go within us, and we will enjoy. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhudīpa Nārāyaṇam. Oṁ Namaḥ Śrī Prabhudīpa Hama Sabdhasa Prabhu Caraṇaparāyaṇam... O Śrī Prabhudeep Nārāyaṇa... Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī. We are praying to Mahāprabhujī. Thank you, Mahāprabhujī. You gave blessings to Holy Gurujī, to Viśvagurujī, and as well to us all, and we go down to your Holy Lotus Feet and thank you, Mahāprabhujī, that you also gave blessings so we can worship Devpurījī.
