Yoga Nidra Practising

A guided Yoga Nidrā meditation with a spiritual visualization.

"Try not to fall asleep, but do not fight the sleep. The main point is to be relaxed."

"The cave's silence is now in your hearts. Carry it always."

Following opening prayers, a teacher guides participants through a deep relaxation and body scan. The practice transitions into a detailed visualization of a pilgrimage to a sacred cave in the Himalayas with Vishwagurujī, evoking the presence of the Guru lineage and a profound sense of blessing. The session concludes with a return to body awareness and the repetition of a personal resolution (Saṅkalpa).

Śaṅkarācārya Madhyāmam, Asmadācārya Paryantam, Vande Guru Paramparām. Gurur Brahmā, Gurur Viṣṇu, Gurur Devo Maheśvaraḥ, Gurur Sākṣāt Para Brahma, Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaḥ. Mannātha, Śrī Jagannātha, Madguru, Śrī Jagadguru, Mamātmā, Sarvabhūtātmā, Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaḥ. Salutations to the Cosmic Self. My greetings to the Cosmic Me, my sincere greetings to our Paramparā, my Daṇḍavat Praṇām to Vishwagurujī, my greetings to all the Sannyāsīs. Hari Om, and good evening to all of you. And for those who are watching through the webcast from the beautiful Strelka. Today we are going to practice Yoga Nidrā. So please lie down on your backs, head towards the altar. Today is going to be a special Yoga Nidrā for you. Sometimes we go to the seaside. Sometimes we go to the forest. But today we are going somewhere special. That is a surprise you will see after. Hands beside your body, please, palms facing upwards. It is a warm day, but still, if you feel cold, you can cover yourselves. Close your eyes. Adjust your body in such a way that you do not need to move. Yoga Nidrā practice is just a mental practice, not a physical practice. No physical movements. Relax. Relax your whole body. Relax your hands, relax your arms, relax your legs, relax your eyes. No concentration, no imagination, no thoughts. Just listen and follow my words and my voice. Now we are going to repeat our Saṅkalpa three times. Try to make it short and positive. Something that you know, and you are manifesting it to come true. Relax the whole body. Feel the whole body. Take a deep inhalation. And a deep exhalation. Relax the body from the tip of your toes to the crown of your head. And from the top of your head to the bottom of your toes, try to relax every muscle of your body, every nerve, and the breathing process. Feel your natural breath from the navel coming up to the throat. With every exhalation, from the throat back to the navel. When we inhale, then we are getting the Prāṇa, the vital energies, inside of us. And when we are exhaling, we are removing all the toxins, all the negative energies. S každým výdechem uvolňujeme toxíny a negativní energie. Try not to fall asleep, but do not fight the sleep. Puste neupadnou do spánku, ale také se spánkem nebojujte. In case sleep comes, just tell yourself, "I am practicing Yoga Nidrā." Pokud spánek přijde, řekněte si: "Cvičím Yoga Nidru." Try to witness your sleep. Try not to sleep. The main point is to be relaxed. Say to yourself, "Relax, my friend. Relax for the time being. Relax and let me be one with myself." Relax your arms, relax your shoulders, neck, face muscles, jaw, eyelids, eyebrows, all back muscles, stomach, hip joint, buttocks, legs. Feel your relaxation, feel how good you feel while relaxing. At the time of inhalation, your body feels slightly expanding, and at the time of exhalation, the body is contracting. At the time of inhalation, your body feels very light, and at the time of exhalation, your body feels very heavy. Feel the natural breath to the whole body. Inhalation feels like you are floating up, and exhalation feels very relaxing, like you feel after a whole night's sleep. It is dawn in the high Himalayas. The air is thin, fresh, and cool. Snow peaks glow golden with the first sunlight. You are standing in the Mana village near Badrinath. Vishwagurujī is beside you, smiling warmly, and he says, "Come, we will walk to Ālapurījī's cave." You begin walking along the narrow, stony path. To your left, deep valleys open, filled with the sounds of the Alaknandā river rushing below. On the right, tall cliffs rise towards the sky. The wind carries the scent of pine and cold mountain water. You cross a small wooden bridge over the glacier stream. The water is icy and clear. As you walk, the path rises gradually and the air becomes crisp. You pass herds of Himalayan goats grazing on the grass, bells around their neck jingling softly. Snow patches appear along the path, shining in the sunlight. Ahead, you see the Vasudhara Falls, a tall, silvery ribbon of water tumbling down from the rocks above. The mist from the falls touches your face, cool and pure. The path becomes steeper now, winding upwards along the rocky steps. You hear nothing but the waterfall, the wind, and your own breath. Finally, you reach a narrow ledge, and just beyond it is the cave, the sacred cave. Above the doorway, you see the name Alakpurījī Cave. Vishwagurujī steps inside, makes Praṇām, and lights the beautiful Dīpak. We all sit down and make Praṇām from outside. And Gurudev comes out and sits near the door of the cave. Rudeh vyjde ven a sedne si blízko dveří jeskyně. It is cool, silent, but lit with the flame of the Dīpak. Je stišený, ale má na tváři odraz Deepaka z jeskyně. The sound of the waterfall outside is soft now, like distant rain. Dolehá k nám nějaký zvuk vodopádu z dálky. Je to jako lehký déšť. Feel your breath slowing down. Inhale, the cave fills with light. And exhale, the light spreads to the whole world. Vishākhā Gurujī closes his eyes, entering a deep meditation. And you follow. The cave feels timeless, as if saints have been meditating there for thousands of years. A deep peace settles in your heart. Every thought disappears. There is only the presence of the Guru, the cave, and the eternal silence. We feel the energy of Śrī Arakpurījī, who was sitting there and meditating for years and years. We feel blessed to be a part of this journey. And we feel blessed that Gurudev has taken us on that journey with him. We feel the immense energy from the Paramparā flowing through all of us. We feel the extreme wave of light coming through us, throughout the whole body. Tears flow out of some of us, not from sadness but from happiness, from the immense energy which is flowing through us from the blessings of the Gurudeva which are coming, and we hear Viśva Gurujī's voice. And he is chanting, the surrounding valleys... Go with the sound. The sound is going around the whole valley, and slowly we make Praṇām and come one by one to have Darśan of the cave and Gurudev. One after another, we come to the cave. Máme jich daršan, uděláme praṇām jeskyni Ingrudevovi. Śvagurujī nám žehná a každému položí. Položí svůj palec na naše čelo. Uvědomte si tu úžasnou energii, that immense blessing which we would wish for entire hundred lives, we finally got. And he tells us that, "I am always with you." And he says, "It is time to return." You step outside into the crisp mountain air. When we open our eyes, we see the sun is higher now, making the snow peaks shine brighter. A zasněžené vrcholy nyní svítí světleji. You walk carefully back down the rocky steps, pomalu a opatrně kráčíte směrem dolů. The mist of Vasudhara Falls touches your skin once more, mlha z vodopádu Vasudhary ještě jednou se dotýká vaší tváře. You pass the same herds of Himalayan goats still grazing. We cross the bridge again, hearing the icy stream rushing below us. The cliffs are now on the left, and the deep valley is to your right. The Alakṇandā river sparkles far below. The path leads you back to Māna village. You arrive at the same spot where you began. Vishwagurujī looks into your eyes. He gazes and says, "The cave's silence is now in your hearts. Carry it always." We bow to Viśvagurujī, make Praṇām in gratitude. Feel your whole body. Relax and feel your right thumb. Index finger, middle finger, ring finger, little finger, back of your hand, wrist. Forearm, elbow, upper arm, shoulder, right armpit, chest, waist, hip, thigh, ankle, heel, sole of the foot, top of the foot, and big toe, second toe, third toe, fourth, and fifth. Left thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, little finger, palm, back of the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, upper arm, shoulder, left armpit, chest, waist, hip, thigh, ankle. Sole of the foot, top of the foot, big toe, second toe, third, fourth, fifth, right buttock, left buttock, lower back, middle back, upper back, right shoulder blade, left shoulder blade, spine. Back of the neck, back of the head, crown, forehead, right temple, left temple, right eye, left eye, eyelids, nose, nostrils, cheeks, lips, chin, jaw. Throat, collarbone, right chest, left chest, center of the chest, ribs, stomach, navel, abdomen. Feel the whole body. Feel how relaxed you feel, very light, very relaxed. Now we will repeat the Saṅkalpa again three times. The Saṅkalpa needs to be repeated in the beginning and at the end of the Yoga Nidrā. Repeat the Saṅkalpa with the same feelings. Slowly become extroverted. Become aware of my voice. Sounds around us, your breath sound, the color of your clothes. Try to remember the friend who is lying beside you, the whole environment around you. Feel your breath. You know that you are not sleeping, but practicing Yoga Nidrā. You... Are you aware of the instructions given by me? You are completely relaxed. Feel the whole body from the toes to the top of the head. And from the top of the head to the toes, the body is comfortable and relaxed. If someone is sleeping beside you, please do not wake them up. Just be sure for yourself that you are awakened. Deeply inhale. And exhale. Feel the body from the outside, inhaling and exhaling deeply, slowly. Move your toes and fingers. Move your neck right and left. Move your hands and knees to the left. Legs and with closed eyes, slowly sit up facing the altar. Remain with closed eyes. And just feel yourself, notice how you feel relaxed and good after the Yoga. Uvidomte si, jak se cítíte uvolněně a dobře po Yoga Nidrā.
