First Anniversary of Om Mandir: A Celebration of Sacred Penance and Divine Architecture

The first anniversary of Om Mandir is celebrated, a structure built after 28 years of penance.

The building stands as the Om-shaped temple on earth, housing 33 crore deities on different levels. The lower level contains the samādhi of the founder’s guru. Above it, all twelve Jyotirliṅgas and four Dhāmas are established. The merit of a Dvādaśa Jyotirliṅga pilgrimage is bestowed here. The prāṇapratiṣṭhā was completed one year ago. The entire Om Āśram is the root of Sanātana culture. The Vedas, Upaniṣads, Gītā, and Purāṇas have Oṁ as their foundation. The founder, Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Maheśvarānanda Purī, spread Sanātana Dharma globally for decades. A visiting German journalist’s remark inspired the creation of something enduring. The sound of Oṁ emerged during the founder’s meditation. God manifested this Om-shaped Āśram through divine impetus. Five essential messages were bequeathed: protect the environment, adopt yoga, convey peace, embrace the scriptures, and adopt Indian culture for true happiness. A special Kumbha that occurs after 144 years was witnessed.

"Oṁ was confined to images since time immemorial. Om was read in papers, in mantras, but if anyone has built Om in the form of a building on earth for the first time, it is Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvarānanda Purī Jī Mahārāj."

"The sun is one, the moon is one, the earth is one... Just so, Om Āśram is also one on this terrestrial plane."

Although it has been 28 years, to attain its completeness, the Prāṇa Pratiṣṭhā Mahāsaswara which was celebrated, this same day was celebrated, and today it has completed one year in itself. In its local language, it is called Janam Dīn today. Janam din manā rahā hai, aur English mein kehte hai “Happy Birthday”, toh āj hum sab “Happy Birthday” mein. Toh aise Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān ke lie khoop tālīyā̃ bajākar śabda kareṅ, aur yeh sab amāre jitnī upādhiyā̃ lage utnī kam hai. Aise amāre mānpurūṣoṅ ko ki yeh Hindustān mein… There is only one place in the world where there is a place… where Kaṁd Ke Mantra Mein Sabse Pehle Oṁ Kā Uccāraṇ Hotā Hai, Tabhī O Mantra Pūraṇ Hotā Hai, To Vahī Oṁ Ākār Ke Andar Ye Pūrā Mandir Banā Hai, Jisme 33 Kotī Devī Devatāon Kā Nivās hai, alag alag tal par alag alag nivās hai. Nīche tal mein Gurudev kā nivās hai, jo sab kī dhuri hai. To Pūjya Gurudev kā aṭhaṭh prayās, aur ye Bhārat varṣ ko ek bahut Mahāprabhudīp karatā, Mahāprabhudīp karatā. They come to the Mela, take a bath in the Gaṅgā, and now they have made the Kumbha special. The Kumbha has been completed on the third of the fifth month. The Kumbha has been completed on the 3rd of the month, from the 14th of January to the 5th of the month. Pūrṇamāghī Sanan is for Kalpavās and Śivarātri. Bhagavān Śiva is for all those who worship him. But the main Kumbha, which we call Gaṅgā’s Amṛt Snān, Makarasi, Karak, Surya, Śrī Purījī, Śrī Purījī… Śrī, but this Kumbha has become special for the general public. It is for the general public. Yes, absolutely. Now it is ending. So the Kumbha which has come after 144 years, we are very fortunate that it has not come in the life of our ancestors. And perhaps it will not come in the next generation also. We are so fortunate that we have seen the divine temple built on the place where Lord Rāma was born. We have also seen the Kumbha that came after 144 years. And we have also seen the inauguration of Lord Nārāyaṇa. We have not seen it before. Om Nārāyaṇ Mandir was also our freedom. So we are very fortunate, and we will not be more fortunate than this. Inī śabdo ke sāth main bānī ko biram detā hūṁ, Hari Om Tassat, Hari Om Tassat. I welcome all those who have given their whole lives for this ashram. You may come to the stage. I request the Honourable Yogeś Purī Jī Mahārāj. I request the Honourable Yogeś Purījī Mahārāj. Yogesh Purījī ne hameṁ itnī acchhī imārat dī hai, aur itnā acchhā dharm ke rūp meṁ diyā, sammān kare, abhinandan kare. Bahut bahut abhār, dhanyavād. Viśvagurūjī ke hāthoṁ ādrāṇīye Yogesh Purījī kā sammān, maiṁ nivedan karnā cāhatā hūṁ. Hamare pās 15 minute bachē hain, 2 bajē hum bhojan prasād ke lie prasthān kareṅge, islie vaktāoṁ se nivedan kartā hūṁ. All this is a blessing for you, Mr. Narendra Jī. This is a complete blessing for you. Because today you have not even had lunch. As I know, they have not had lunch today. So I request the devotees to take the program to the end at 2 o’clock. So keep your time and complete your talk. I request the Ashram’s Uttar Adhikārī, Avatārpūrī Jī Mahārāj, to show us the path. Oṁ Śalāk Purījī Mahādeva Kī Jai, Devādyā Dev Deveśvara Mahādeva Kī Jai, Śrīdīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jai, Hindudharma Samrāṭ Paramahaṁsa Svāmī Śrī Madhavānanda Purījī, Satguru Deva Bhagavān Kī Jai, Viśvaguru, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Paramahaṁsa, Śrī Maheśvarānanda. Purījī, Gurudev, kī jaya. Abhī to maiṁ ye bhī nahīṁ bol sakta, ho ki āp logoṁ ne bhojan nahīṁ kiyā hai kyā? Jai ho, jod se bolo, aap logo ne sāhī me bhojan nahīṁ kiyā hai. First, sarur pratham apne Pūjya Gurudev, Viśvaguru, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Maheśvarānanda Purī Jī, Mahārāj, Kecchand, Kamlumme, Mera Naman Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Svāmī Gyān Sarupānana Jī, Mahārāj, Kumbha Melā Nārāyaṇa, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Svāmī Gyānāśvara Purī Jī, Mahārāj, Kumbha Melā Nārāyaṇa Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Svāmī Phulpurījī Mahārāj. Kumbha Namo Nārāyaṇ, Svāmī Rājendra Purī Jī Mahārāj, Svāmī Umā Purī Jī Mahārāj, Svāmī Yogēśvarī, and all of you who are sitting here, all of you, Omira Namo. Today, it is a matter of great joy that our Gurudev’s whole life’s dream, Om Āśram, which is the Om Āśram in which we are sitting now. The work of bringing it to its full form has been done from the time of our Pūjya Gurudev, Viśvaguru, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Maheśvarānanda Purījī Mahārāj. Pūjya Gurudev has been propagating and spreading Sanātana Dharma throughout the entire world for the last 50–60 years. Bābajī Mahārāj kā ek śiṣya thā, jo Germany ke ek patrakār the. Part 2: Om Āśram’s First Anniversary: A Divine Commemoration Bābājī Mahārāj once asked a visitor, “Āpko Bhārat kaisā lagā?” To which they replied, “Bhārat to bahut sundar lagā, par ek cīz hamārī bākī reh gayī, jo ham nahīṁ dekh paye.” A thought then arose in Bābājī’s mind: “I will also make something which will be remembered for a long time, that if someone has made something, then he has made it.” That something is the Om Āśram in which we are seated today. During the meditation of Pūjya Gurudev, the sound of Oṁ emerged, and from that sound the whole world came forth. In a similar way, the sound of Oṁ resounded in Bābājī’s dream. Then, with the inspiration of Mahāprabhujī and the divine impetus of Gurudev, God manifested this Om Ākṛtika Āśram. At its centre rests the samādhi of our Pūjya Dādāgurujī, the Hindu Dharma Samrāṭ, Paramān Svāmī Madhavānand Purījī Mahārāj. Above it, Bābājī Mahārāj declared what we sing in our bhajans—indeed, the Vedas proclaim that the Guru’s feet contain the Adh Sat Tirat. He affirmed that all twelve Jyotirliṅgas and the four Dhāmas are established here, in the twelve Jyotirliṅga Mandir. The temple of the Dvādaśa Jyotirliṅga stands over Gurudev; the merit one would gain from a Dvādaśa Jyotirliṅga pilgrimage is bestowed here. The water from the Dvādaśa Jyotirliṅga was used on the day of prāṇapratiṣṭhā—the great consecration festival—and today, in the auspicious presence of Gurudev, one full year of that sacred event has been completed. May further glories unfold; this is our heartfelt wish. To all of you, this is your own home. You may come here at any time. And, Ānand Dījaya, in this Mahotsava, I will quickly explain why we were all laughing earlier. Sureshjī had said, “All the people who are speaking on the stage, I request all of you to be a little bit short in your talks, because the children haven’t eaten yet.” And then the children clapped so loudly—I have never heard them clap like that in my whole life. It was a clear sign for us to speed up and not take too long, for the children were hungry. “Bhuke pīṭ na uve bhajan gopāla. Saiye na?” Bahut bahut abhār. Main nivedan karnā chāhtā hū Adrīṇīye Rājendra Purījī Mahārāj se ke apnī vāṇī se hamārā pathāy kare. Sachidānanda Ānandakanda Parabrahma Paramātmā kī Yogalī Caraṇome Praṇām. Prataḥsmaraṇīya Arcaṇīya Vandanīya Pūjya Śrī Gurudeva Bhagavān ke Caraṇ Kamalo Me Praṇām. Mañcastha Virajman, Madhaleśvara Vṛndha, Samastha Sant Vṛndha, Āyuṣe Vidyālay Parivār Se—and to all the devotees connected with this Ashram family, with faith and reverence, Namo Nārāyaṇa Hari Om. This is a moment of immense joy. The history we witness is the fruit of our Param Pūjya Gurudev, Vishvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Maheśvarānanda Pūjya Gurudev Bhagavān’s sādhanā, tapas, tyāga, and jñāna bhajan. Ka Ye Prabhāv Hai. Sarva Prathama Hindu Dharma Samrāṭ Param Śrī Svāmī Madhavānanda Purī Jī Bhagavān Ke Yugala Caraṇam Me Pradhāṁ Karte Hue Pūjya Gurudeva Bhagavān Ne Jo Sampūrṇa Viśva Ko Jo… Aaj us sākār rūp ko hum sabhī log ek varṣ pūrṇ hote hue dekh rahe haiṅ, yā sabhī ke liye ānand. We are all deeply fortunate to live a contemporary life in the company of such great beings of this age—a life made divine. Om Āśram, as you know, is the very root of Sanātana culture. Sampūrṇa Vedas kā mūla Oṁ haiṁ, Upaniṣads kā mūla Oṁ haiṁ, Gītā kā mūla Oṁ haiṁ, jitne Purāṇ haiṁ, śabda kā mūla Oṁ haiṁ, aur vahī Oṁ haiṁ. Āj hum log bhī usī ke mūla meṁ baiṭhe haiṁ. Isse baṛā svābhāgya hum sab kā nahīṁ ho saktā. Having said this, I will rest my words. May the Omkār Mandir enjoy ever-growing prosperity; may all our lives be blessed and filled with joy. With this, I bow at the feet of the Lord, to Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, to the Divine Puruṣa Mahādeva, to the Alakh Puruṣa Mahādeva, to Mādhav Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān. Vishwaguru, Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar, Gurudev Bhagavān Kī, Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī, Om Namaḥ Pārvatī Pādaye Hara Hara Mahāl. Thank you very much, respected Rājendra Purījī Mahārāj. I now humbly invite Jñānke Sāgar Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar Jñāneśwar Purījī Mahārāj to guide us. Om Gurur Brahma, Gurur Viṣṇu, Gurur Devo Maheśvara, Gurukh Sākṣāt Par Brahma, Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaha, Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaha. You all recite this in my āratī; this mantra comes in the prayer. Every child who comes here, who studies in the school, is living proof of what is possible through the grace of Gurudev. Our Gurudev, Vishwaguru, Param Mahāśvaraṇandajī Mahārāj, was born in a small village in Rupavas and has now established Om Āśram as the Vishwaguru of the entire world. All this is by the grace of the Guru, the King of Hindu Dharma, Supreme Master Mādhavānandjī Mahārāj. The very form of knowledge we have—Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar, Mahānirvāṇī Akhāṛā—is also solely due to the Guru’s grace. He became Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar and became everything. Those of us seated here—Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar Phul Purījī Mahārāj, Avatārpūrījī, Yogeś Purījī, Rājendra Purījī, Roma Purījī—we were all under the guidance of Gurudev. We accomplished much in high positions, but it is only Gurudev who can truly do; there is no one else. Suresh Gurujī is present before you, and all the teachers will seek his counsel so that you may attain Bhagavān Janaka in your life. We also have with us two SDMs, Eric Adishan and the Collector, seated here. How did this come to pass? Purījī, Purījī… At the close of this programme, I would like to thank and invite Ādranīyā Phūlpurījī Mahārāj, Ādranīyā Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar and Ādranīyā Phūlpurījī Mahārāj, and extend an invitation for lunch. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān kī oṁ ananta brahmāṇḍ ke rachetā sarasvatī ke pālan kartā ghaṭ ghaṭ meṁ rahne vāle param parātmā kuśasat naman viśvavandanīye prātaḥ smaraṇ ārādhanā gurudev viśvagurujī ke caraṇāravindam naman manasā seṁ virajita Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar Swami Gyānasuruparaṇa Jī Mahārāj, Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar Swami Gyāneśwar Purī Jī Mahārāj, Īś Om Āśram kī Abhyanta Pūjye Swami Swami Yogeś Purī Jī Mahārāj, Pūjya Gurudev ke Uttara Adhikārī Swami, Avatārpuri Jī Mahārāj, Umā Purī Jī. Mahārāj, Ācārya Rājendra Purījī Mahārāj, mañj kī śobhā baḍhāne ke liye padhāre hue, mere upakhaṇḍ adhikārī, Mārwāḍ, M. Sojat. Evam Prachārīya Vidyālaya, Mahāvidyālaya ke Nideśaka Maude, Esh Kārikāram kī Hem Bhūmikā me Mahāprasād kā Āśīrvād dene ke liye Bhāī Sāhib Narendra Jī Chaudhrī Sāhib, and for the betterment of the Yajña and Abhiṣeka, Colonel Kheem Singh Jī—and all the followers of Pūjya Gurudev spread across the country. Aap sabhī se, is manch ko chod karke, āp se nivedane, āp gherā śvās lekar jāye, ek bār Oṁ kā uccāran kareṅge, gherā śvās lejīye. This is called history—the past that has passed. Yet we who have come to this stage, and those living in various parts of India, whether disciples of Gurū Mahārāj or not, are all going to create the history of the present. Om was confined to images since time immemorial. Ek kāgjon ke andar me simit Om padte the, mantraon me Om padte the, lekin Om imārat ke rūp me pṛthvī par pahlī bār agar kisī ne banāyī he, to Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvarānanda Purī Jī Mahārāj. So I will share a few simple truths: the sun is one, the moon is one, the earth is one, the sky is one, water is one, fire is one, air is one. Just so, Om Āśram is also one on this terrestrial plane. In other words, countless great souls have shaped history on earth and offered life-giving messages to humans and animals alike. Swamījī Mahārāj has bequeathed five essential messages to protect the environment, the very foundation of our life; to adopt yoga in daily living, for without yoga, life does not remain healthy; to convey peace to the world, even addressing the United Nations, because life is impossible without peace; and the fourth message is to embrace the scriptures—whether the Vedas, Upaniṣads, Gītā, Rāmāyaṇa, Ananta Hari, Ananta Hari Kathā, Kahe, Sune, Bhāvavidhi—all are Śāstras. The fifth message declares that all human beings on earth are drawn to Indian culture and, by adopting it, make their lives truly happy. Thus the message of this sūtra, Viśvagurū, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar, Paramahaṁsavāmī, Maheśvarānanda Purījī Mahārāj. In the Rāmāyaṇa, Tulasīdāsjī says, “Who does not know the name of Kapila, Saṅkaṭa Mochan in this world, Tihāro?” If Maheśvara Nanda Purījī Mahārāj bears such a name in his daily life, then wherever a saint, a spiritual life, arises, everyone acknowledges that Maheśvara Nanda Jī Mahārāj has an āśrama in Rājasthān. Om Āśram hai aur Vihāna Austria ke andar me bhī Swāmījī Mahārāj Anandlak jagāyā hai. Itnā ek kā karke merī ik vānī ko virām doongā. Āp sabhī pūjī Gurudev ke bhaktōṁ ko śubha āśīrvād aur yeh vṛṣ gant Om Āśram ke prāṁ pratiṣṭhā. Mahotsava ke ek vṛṣ ke uparaṅ abhī vṛṣ gant kā āyurjan thā. Āp sabhī bhakta guṇao ne jo bhī mañcāśīn viraj mad, hamāre pūjī gaṇa sabhī ne. Physically, mentally, and spiritually you have all gathered to make this sabhā pleasant, beautiful, and blissful. We thank you for your dedicated effort. You have come with the blessings of Gurudev. All our Gurudev devotees are present; we are grateful to each one of you. Nideśya Maude ne is man sañcalan kiyā, āpko bhī pūje Śrī Gurudev kā āśīrvād. You are all most welcome to this great place where we celebrate the inauguration and anniversary of Om Āśram. Many, many blessings from the Alakhpurī Siddha Paramparā. Om is omnipresent and omnipotent; it is everywhere. We offer our heartfelt thanks. Thank you, Viśvagurujī, for creating Om Āśram and for blessing us to be here. Meditate, perform Anuṣṭhāna, practice Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Rāja Yoga. We are all thankful to Viśvagurujī. Hari Om. Now, before the meal, there is a small class for you—since you are all learning English, I will speak a few words in the language. So, dear friends, today marks the one-year anniversary according to the lunar calendar. Why do we celebrate on the moon anniversary? Because we needed to hoist the flag. The flag was raised according to the lunar calendar; that is why this programme was arranged today instead of the 19th. The flag programme was an earlier initiative lovingly organized by Holy Gurujī’s dear disciple Narendra Chodrījī and his family, together with Kimsingjī Rāṭhore, who is seated beside the yajña. Today’s programme comprises three parts: first, the Śiva Abhiṣeka performed in the morning; second, the ongoing Yajña; and now, this official gathering with our dear Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar, our neighbour from the Mahānirvāṇī Akhāṛā, and Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar from Jodhpur. We are also joined by a few of our respected administration officers who share a deep bond with the ashram. Thus this event is brought forth by all our people, the administration, and especially these children, who are the future of yoga, the future of India, and the future of the world.
