Gurujis Anniversary Memories

I have seen the divine embodied. My spiritual master was the divine incarnate, possessing complete awareness and power.

He once warned me of a shooting that had already occurred exactly as described. On another journey, my vehicle failed dramatically, yet I reached my destination. After his conscious departure from the body, his divine power remained active. A child suffered a severe eye injury from a pencil. His parents prayed to the master. Doctors repeatedly delayed removing the bandage, and when they finally did, the eye was fully healed. The soul is not lost; the same divine power persists from when he was in the body. Therefore, engage in worship to awaken and progress by this power.

"He told me, 'Colonel Sāhab, today some bullets are going to be fired at your stomach.'"

"After 15 days... they removed the bandage. That child... can see with both eyes—something only Bhagavān can do."

Glory to the illuminating Bhagavān, victory to Deveśa Mahādeva, glory to Mādhava Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān, victory to Paramahaṃsavāmī Mahāśrānana Jī Gurudev. You have all been enlightened about the life story and deeds of Bhagavān Śrī Mādhavānanda Purī Jī Mahārāj. Before you, I will share only two more things—I will take three minutes to tell you what I have seen. I ask all of you: Have you seen Bhagavān? If anyone has seen Bhagavān, please stand up. If no one has seen Him, then do not believe that I have not seen Bhagavān. I have seen Bhagavān with a body, I have seen Bhagavān incarnate, I have seen Bhagavān. Śrī Mahādvananapurī Jī Mahārāj took incarnation as Bhagavān. I have been fortunate for the past 30-35 years; Mahādvananapurī Jī Mahārāj is my Ādhyā Gurudev. What I have witnessed, I want to share with you in just two minutes. It was my good fortune to have seen Bhagavān, to have worshipped His feet in His sacred presence, and to have had the blessing of living with Him for many months. In a sentence or two, I will tell you how I expressed that He was the embodiment of Bhagavān. My posting was in Kashmir, inside Srinagar. At that time, my spiritual master, Gurudev Śrī Mādhvānanda Purī Jī Mahārāj, was residing right there near me. You might be surprised to hear that one day he told me, "Colonel Sāhab, today some bullets are going to be fired at your stomach. What will you do by going there?" You won’t believe it—I was fully dressed in my uniform, had arranged a vehicle, and set off. By the time I reached there, the shooting had already taken place. That shows how much awareness He possessed. That night was the night of Śrīpūrṇimā. I left Udaipur in the evening; my family was with me. I had to go, and my mission was to return to Udaipur the next morning. As soon as my vehicle reached the valley of Deśurī, the engine started making a lot of noise, and the vehicle was emitting smoke from behind as if a jet engine was running. It was very difficult, but I reached Nīpāl at half past ten at night. Later, when Gurudev asked, "Colonel Sāhab, what is the program?" I said, "I have to go to Bhuj in Gujarat. The duty is there, and I will go tomorrow morning. Tomorrow morning, your Bāīsā, who has come from my house, will return to Udaipur. Sir, you ask, my vehicle is in such bad condition that I have barely managed to reach here. Now, how will it climb back up the mountain on the ridge of Deśurī?" I simply did not have the courage. It was Gurudev’s command—I bowed my head to it and then went. I am telling you in the class about a train from 1994, a very old train, a first-class carriage that climbed up the mountains, and eventually I reached Udaipur. Nothing happened to the train, but I left the train there. I will tell you about what happened after Mahāsamādhi; I have quite a bit of experience in this spiritual realm. But let me tell you one thing: when Gurudev took Mahāsamādhi, what happened afterward was like this. Just as you children are seated here, we have a small school that runs, which belongs to Gurudev himself. There is a school in Udaipur where classes were going on. During the break, the children were misbehaving with each other. One child was sitting with his head down, and a pencil went into his eye. I was there, and we took him to the doctor. The doctor said the pencil had gone in quite deep. So, the child was taken to another good doctor. He also said the same. The child’s parents came directly to Nīpāl, bowed at Gurudev’s feet, and said, "Gurudev, only you can save us." They had applied a bandage and said it would be removed after 15 days. After 15 days, when they went to have the bandage removed, they were told, "No, not yet. No one is there, it is getting better." They applied the bandage again and were told to come back after 15 days. After 15 days, when they went to Ahmedabad, they removed the bandage. That child is 30 years old today, working a job, and can see with both eyes—something only Bhagavān can do. Therefore, I do not wish to elaborate much, but I am telling you that Mahāsamādhi has been taken by Bhagavān’s body, not by the soul. The ātman is still alive; it is not lost, and even today the same power exists that Bhagavān possessed when He took on the body. Therefore, my humble request to all of you is to perform pūjā and take advantage of Bhagavān’s power. You will awaken, you will progress, you will achieve success. Beyond this, I have nothing more to say. I want to say something to you all, speaking at the feet of my Gurudev.
