In this world, within the Vedas, and in the nature of true swāmīs and noble lords, there is a quality: when they hear the request of a devotee, they immediately perceive and recognize the love within that person. What kind of love is it? You see, we often pray to God and say, "Why doesn't God help me? I have been praying for so long." We pray, "God should protect my grandmother," yet she passes away. God knows why you are praying and what kind of selfishness resides within you. Even a human being can often see in your eyes what you are speaking about and what your expectations are. So He does not want tricks; He wants love. Prayer should come from the heart. But what is inside that heart? If there is doubt, jealousy, anger, or something which is not in order, then these things emerge. God knows what is in your heart. There is a specific quality God seeks, and thus He realizes instantly what your true expectation is. God has no dualities. Whether you are rich or poor, unlearned or learned, from the jungle or the city, good or bad—God does not see these distinctions. He sees what is in your heart in this very minute, as you pray to Him. He sees the quality with which you are praying. He sees what you hold in your heart. In that moment of prayer, what quality do you possess? And that quality can be changed. This means: do not give up hope. We have a great chance. A chance for what? We have a great chance either to fall down or to rise up. Freedom depends on you. It is you who can hold it, and you who can lose it. Still, it is not too late. It takes very little time. It is said to take only the time of closing your eyes and opening them—what in German is called an Augenblick. We need only such an Augenblick, such a second, but it must be of great divine quality. So we are waiting for those seconds. Therefore, God needs pure love, and you possess that—this is another good thing. You have that pure love, and you can act from it. But you do not follow the Guru Vākya; you do not listen. You say, "Oh, Swāmījī is always telling such things." We can do it; we will tell him, "Sorry, Swāmījī, it was not like that." But the consequences, the fruits, are there, and you will suffer them. Purify. Purify. ... If just one of you can purify yourself this weekend—even one person in such a quality—then all who are sitting in this room can be liberated. That is my ... I do not like challenges, but it is a challenge. And that one person will be a mortal, holy person. So it could be that some of you will be; I do not know. By Friday or Saturday evening, we will know. So, whose heart is completely pure, shining like the sun? The hope is less. You know what it means to be hopeless?
