God's play - Lila (from Ramayana)

The divine play is profound and often misunderstood by those bound by attachment and ignorance. Human perception is limited, seeing only present suffering without understanding its past causes from previous lives. Questions about why the innocent suffer arise from a selfish perspective that fails to comprehend karma and destiny, which are created by the individual across many lifetimes. We see only results, not the hidden causes from the past or the future outcomes. Similarly, one may mistakenly feel abandoned by a Master's guidance, which is a misperception of that divine education. Understanding God fully resolves all apparent contradictions.

"Those who see faults in God in this manner certainly do not understand what God is and what God is not."

"If you truly understand God, then all problems are resolved. You would comprehend fully."

The glory and divine play (līlā) of Lord Rāma is profound. Even the wise can be mistaken in understanding God's play. This is especially true for those whose vision is narrowed by attachment (moha) and ignorance; they perceive God's actions as entirely different from what they are. Our understanding is incomplete. Many questions arise: How can God permit such suffering? How can God allow people to endure earthquakes? What purpose does God have in a drought? How are we to understand God when great fires burn, consuming humans, creatures, and vegetation? How do we comprehend God when many poor children suffer from diseases? We think these children are innocent, that they have done nothing wrong. How is this possible? We do not understand. Those who see faults in God in this manner certainly do not understand what God is and what God is not. They do not understand what karma is. They do not understand what destiny (prārabdha) is. And this destiny is created by the individual. In the life of that child, in the body of that child, there may be other karma hidden from past lives, for beings traverse many, many lifetimes. But we see only from our selfish perspective. We see our own selfish benefit, and thus we fail to understand God. If you truly understand God, then all problems are resolved. You would comprehend fully. But the problem is this: you see only the result; you do not see the cause. That is, we see only the present situation; we do not see the past situation. Past situations refer to past lives, and we do not see what will be in the future. Similarly, it is very difficult to understand God's līlās or the Master's education and guidance. Often we think the Master does not love us, that he has forgotten us. This is your thinking; it is not his thinking, nor is it his reality. Therefore, to understand the glories of Bhagavān Rāma, the king of the Raghu dynasty (Raghukula), the lord of the Raghukula lineage, is not easy.
