About Satsang (from Ramayana)
The glory of satsaṅga is its power to transform and elevate. In good company, ordinary wood becomes like sandalwood, and street water becomes holy by joining the Gaṅgā. When water mixes with milk, the water's value rises to match the milk's price. Similarly, whoever joins satsaṅga sees their spiritual value rise. Satsaṅga is not just a large gathering; it can be with one or two people, or even within your own thinking, where you learn only good qualities. However, if a sour element is introduced, it divides the milk and water, spoiling the milk and separating them. This represents kusaṅga, or bad company, which damages and divides. Therefore, one prays for satsaṅga and to be kept away from kusaṅgas. Milk is divine, representing mother's love and life, and water can become one with it unless corrupted.
"Whoever goes to satsaṅga, whoever is in harmony with unity, sees their spiritual value rise."
"O Mahāprabhu, listen to my prayer. Please grant me the satsaṅga and keep away from me the kusaṅgas."
