Sadhana and Tapasya (from Ramayana)
The call to spiritual practice is the authority to endure and overcome all obstacles. Sādhanā is the giver of happiness and the remover of troubles, which is why all saints and yogis practice. Obstacles are natural on the path; one must master physical and mental difficulties and not give up willpower. Accept situations without letting them disturb the inner self. Through this endurance, one reaches the aim; without it, one fails. The power of this practice is foundational, as illustrated by the deities: through tapasyā, Brahmā creates, Viṣṇu protects, and Śiva destroys negativity. Even Śeṣanāga carries the earth through this power. Those with sādhanā possess inner strength; those without are easily overcome. Therefore, do real sādhanā with guidance, allowing it to burn away all impurities until only the Self remains.
"Tapasya is the authority to endure something. All kinds of difficulties which you feel physically or mentally, you shall master them and overcome them."
"Through the power of the tapasyā, Brahmā is able to create this world. Through the power of that tapasyā, that sādhanā, Viṣṇu is able to protect the world."
