We are here to learn about something in life called prosperity. Prosperity does not mean only money; it also means cleanness, which is very important. That prosperity is known as Lakṣmī. Lakṣmī always likes cleanness. She goes only where there is purification and cleanness: clean dress, clean bed, clean room, clean bathroom, toilet, clean windows and doors, clean bedsheets, clean body, clean mouth and teeth, clean socks, clean shoes, and a clean heart and clean thoughts. Lakṣmī runs there. That is very, very important. So I know you are all very clean, but if not, then try to be more. The poor are they, and automatically you can see who is not clean. It is said that whoever is not clean, their bhāgya, their luck, disappears. Even if your dry dress is somewhere broken or not broken but torn, that does not matter; you can repair it. But it should be clean. You know that the caste system is divided. Now, in the last one or two centuries, unfortunately, they did it in the wrong way. Otherwise, in reality, as Kṛṣṇa said or in other literature, there was a division in one's own body: the legs are the śūdras, meaning they are ready to go anywhere and help you go there; your duty was to clean them again, and people should not have bad thinking towards this. The system was there that you should wash the feet of others, that you should not neglect them; do not say they are untouchable. That was one of the very, very important principles, and I think somehow Jesus also understood and he performed the ceremony. So, okay, now in this Kali Yuga, do not expect somebody will wash your feet every day, but at least you can do it yourself. This is the first priority to attain higher consciousness. Thoughts clean, house clean, everything clean. And it does not take a long time.
