About Kevaliya
Kevaliyā means "only one," the oneness realized when light merges into light within the heart. There are many ways to attain this. A disciple served his master for sixty years, performing simple tasks, expecting a special technique. One day, the master gave him a piece of bread as prasāda; eating it, he attained enlightenment. The blessing was contained in all those years of seva. Another devotee desired a son; his master gave him three laddus as prasāda, saying they were his three sons, and he received them. The master's words hold power. A man was told he would see God with his own eyes. He waited steadfastly, even as a crow attacked him, pleading only for his eyes to be spared. The crow transformed into Śrī Kṛṣṇa, healing him and blessing his faith. Enlightenment comes through grace, often when least expected, via many paths: seva, devotion, or unwavering faith. Our duty is to be present and accept what is given without denial.
"Kevala rūpa milā ghaṭme, jota me jota milā e diyā."
"Only kṛpā, mercy. And that mercy requires Śiva and a pure heart."
