Swamijis evening Satsang, Jadan, India

Holy festivals awaken universal happiness and consciousness.

All Vedic festivals spread happiness worldwide. They aim to awaken inner joy, brotherhood, forgiveness, respect, tolerance, and love. These celebrations are for everyone—children, women, families, and even animals and nature. The beauty of God is seen in all creation by opening the heart and clearing consciousness of jealousy and anger. Therefore, do not create conflicts between cultures or religions, as happiness is beyond borders. Great sages gave the opportunity to celebrate divine events. Every holy festival has a background leading to a happy end, connected with nature, God, and the environment.

"Every festival of the Sanātana Dharma is aimed at awakening the happiness within oneself."

"To be happy, to be content, to be free, these are the universal principles. No one has a copyright on this."

Sarve bhavantu sukhinaḥ, sarve santu nirāmayāḥ, sarve bhadrāṇi paśyantu, mā kaścid duḥkha bhāg bhavet, oṁ śāntiḥ, śāntiḥ, śāntir bhavatu. Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī, Devīśvar Mahādev Kī, Hindu Dharm Samrāṭ Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandjī Bhagavān Kī. Salutation to the Cosmic Light, Lord of our hearts, omniscient and omnipresent. In his divine presence, good evening, dear brothers and sisters. All the practitioners of yoga and daily life, the spiritual seekers here and in other countries, welcome you. All devotees from Africa, today I was thinking a lot about Africa. So, blessing is coming to you also, especially. This morning I had a call from South Africa and South America. The blessing is coming to you from the Holy Land, India, the Divine Place, Om Śrī Viśvadīp Gurukul, Māheśvarānand Āśram, Research and Education Centre, Rājasthān, Pālī. You have been observing through the media. Yesterday, I explained to you something about the festival, the holy festival. Today, everyone was celebrating the happiness. In Vedic Dharma, in Sanātana Dharma, the values of the Sanātana Dharma, the Hindu Dharma, all the festivals which are under the frame of the Vedic Dharma spread around the whole world. All festivals of the Vedic Dharma are festivals of happiness. The expression is happiness. Yesterday we had a beautiful holy festival in Sydney, Australia, near the Darling Harbour, organized by Bhāratī Vidyābhavan, Mr. Bhatt. Also, there was in America and different parts of the world. Today, people were dancing out of happiness. People were throwing the colours on each other because out of happiness, people were inviting their friends, family, relatives, and neighbors, distributing and giving sweets. Every festival of the Sanātana Dharma is aimed at awakening the happiness within oneself and to awaken the individual consciousness, brotherhood, forgiveness, respect, tolerance, and love. Thanks to God, nearly every month we have some festivals. India is a big country, you know. We have 33 official languages, and we have 3,040 dialects. And many, many divine, holy events. Festival for the children, festival for the young kids, teenagers, festival for the women, festival for the husband, parents, festival for the animals, for the cows, buffaloes, horses, camels, snakes. What do you want more? As well as the festival for the nature, rivers, mountains, and what not. The beauty of our life is nature. O God beautiful, O God beautiful. In the mountains, in the forest, in the desert, and in the meadows. O God, beautiful. The flowers, plants, rivers, lakes, and oceans are in everyone. To see the beauty of God is in each and every corner of the sand you can see. But you have to open your heart and clear up your consciousness, doubt, jealousy, anger, and selfishness. This is the greatest enemy of humans. And therefore, great sages gave us the golden opportunity to celebrate divine events. Don’t make any differences. Do not create conflicts between culture, religion, and countries. Because the festivals and happiness are beyond the border. To be happy, to be content, to be free, these are the universal principles. No one has a copyright on this. So this is the month of the holy, the victory of the truth, victory of the dharma, right of space, victory of the bhaktas, the victory of the devotee. Therefore, our beloved Holy Gurujī, His Holiness Swami Mādhavānandajī Mahārāj said in beautiful bhajan: Sata guru rākho lāja, hama gaja ko ger liyo jala beeta tera nāma pukārī. Gaja ko ger liyo jala bhi tara tera nāma pukārī. Garuḍa choḍa palmē hari āyā, Aaye bhaktan ke hitakārī Satguru Rākulāja Mārī, Bhaktan ke hitakārī Satguru Rākulāja Mārī, Dīna dayāla dayā karo dātā. Bhaiyo, śaraṇ tumhārī, Satguru rakho lāj hamārī. Bhakt pailād kī rakṣakī nijalatī agni me ubārī. Kambhapad pragat bhaya, Swami Kambhapad, Sin me vipta nivari. O Satguru, rakho laaj hamari. Deen Dayal, daya karo, Data, Drogpati Lājha Bachāī, Bhārī Sabhā Mein Murārī, Chira badāyo par nai pāyo Dūsha Dūsha Sanhārī, Satguru Rakha Lājha Amarī, Dīna Dayāla Dayā Karo Dhātā, O Śaraṇa Tumhārī, Satguru Rakho Lāja Amarī. Mīrāṁ pāi pārmē ārākīni viṣa āmṛta-kardārī, esau bhakt ananta-ubhārya, esau bhakt ananta-ubhārya. Ab to merī bārī, sath guru rakho lāj hamārī. Dīn Dayāl, dayā kar dātā, O śaraṇ tumhārī, O Satguru rakho laj hamārī. O Saran Tumari Satguru Shri Puja Bhagavan Deepa Naraya Par Brahma Yavatari Mādhavānanda Prabhujī ka he, Mādhavānanda Prabhujī, apno araja-giridhāri sattva rākau lāja amāri. Suno araja giri dhari, Satguru rakho laaja hamari. Deena dayāla dayā karo dātā. This bhajan was written by our beloved Satguru, Gurudev, Indudharam, Samrat, Śrī Svāmī Madhavānandajī. This bhajan is about those devotees who were in trouble. And finally, God came and helped. It is a long story, a beautiful story. But in short, once an elephant was caught by a crocodile in a lake. And he couldn’t fight against the crocodile. And the crocodile was pulling him down and down. No one could help. Finally, the elephant called to God. Now it means, that means that even the animals have the awareness there is a God. Animals feel the pain, animals feel the attachment, animals feel the love, animals have the fear, animals feel happiness. So, you know, it means to eat meat, to kill the animal is the biggest or the greatest sin which one can make. The elephant decided, "No one can help me now, finally." He called God Viṣṇu. And God Viṣṇu said to his chariot, "Who was it? Garuḍa." Garuda, let’s go to help the Bhakta. And Garuda was flying with high speed. But it was the last second. The last part of the trunk of the elephant was sinking in the water. Only one centimeter was left. And the elephant said, "Lord, please hurry up. Don’t disappoint me." But God wished to say to Gurujī, "You are very slow." And He wished to come Himself, and He killed the, whom? Crocodile, and saved the life of the elephant. Gaj means elephant. Jal means water. Gherliya means occupied, caught within the water. Then finally he called your name, "Oh my lord, Gurudev." Garuda chod palme hari aaya. He left the Garuda, and within no time, within the second, Krishna or Vishnu, God Vishnu, not Krishna, that time Krishna was not born, came and helped the bhakta. The holy festival is based on one bhakta’s devotion, Prahlāda. Bhakta Prahlāda kī rakṣā kīnī. O Lord, you protected the devotee, Prahlāda. Jalati agni se ubhari. From the fire, he could save him. Which fire of the holy? She was taking him on the lap. And he sat on the top of the lap, and that’s why laptop you have now. You know, the name of the laptop is coming from the holy. Everything is based on this. Bhakta Prahlāda kī rakṣā kinnī jaltī agni se, ubharī khamba phāḍ pragyat bhai, svāmī pāle aduṣṭ mārī. So, the father of Prahlāda finally, after many times he tried to kill his son because his son was believing in God. And his father, Hiraṇyakaśipu, not Duryodhana, Hiraṇyakaśipu, did not believe. Hiraṇyakaśipu thought, "I am the God," that is ego. All who went down, who were killed, and who lost everything, because of the ego. The greatest enemy is ego. Ravana was a great person, wise, learned, a very learned person. But it was his ahaṃkāra’s ego; Rāvaṇa was lost. So when your own child is spiritual, practicing yoga and meditation and prayers, your parents say, "Oh God, what happened to my child?" Once, I will not tell you the name of the country, but one of my disciples came and he said, "Swāmījī, since I have half a year practicing yoga and become vegetarian, my parents want to take me to the psychologist, to the psychiatrist." What happened to this boy? Why is he meditating, and why is he a vegetarian? So finally, the father decided to kill his son himself. But indirectly, he gave him options. He made a very big iron pillar and put the coal inside and the fire inside. So the iron pillar was so hot, it was red. Now, father said to son, Pallad, "Don’t believe in God. Get ready, I will chop your head off." Or if you believe in God, then show me. Go and hug the pillar. Pallad said to his father, "Better to die in the fire than to be killed by, through your hands, devil." And he went. He was a few meters away, a young boy. He thought, "My God, today is my last day." I will burn. But God always helps you to get motivation and strength. Now it is time for the exam, the examination. Children think, "I cannot," question, "I cannot answer." Suddenly, you close your eyes and you say, "Om Prabhudeep Niranjan." And thoughts come, and you write. That’s very secret. Okay? Heart bandha karo. Marsaam ko kehra ki, main dhyāna karo Gurujī kā, Gurujī vidyā de rahe. Lekin ganta par nahi bandh karna. So what happens? Pralhāda sees on the heart pillar ants are walking. So Palladu is saying to himself, "Little creature ants, they cannot burn there, how will I burn?" So he ran to embrace the pillar, and at that time, the pillar broke into two parts, and out of that came one incarnation of God, half body as a lion and half body as a human, and took the Palladu in his arms. Then Hiranyakasīv lost his ego and faith and everything. Fear came. He couldn’t get up from his chair, and he made his trousers wet. Hiraṇyakaśip had a promise to the God to become immortal. And Brahmā said, "I cannot give you the blessing of immortality. But you may ask something. What? Ask?" That you don’t die in daytime, nor in the night time. Then He said, "Yes, good idea. I cannot be killed by animals, nor by humans, nor by any weapons, neither in night, nor in day, neither in the house, nor outside of the house." So Brahma said, "That’s done." But always there is a little "but." There is a way. God always finds the way. That’s why Nārsiṅghāvatāra ran to Hiraṇyakaśya. When Hiraṇyakaśya wanted to run in the house, on the doorway, he caught him and sat on his chest. Krenak has closed his eyes. He says, "Open the eyes, look to me, I am a lion." He says, "No, he is a human body." Am I human? No, he is an animal body. Look, are you inside the house or outside? He says, "Between the door." Don’t stand in the door, okay? Yes. Look, is it day? No, it’s sunset. Is it night? No. And look at my glove. Is the weapons? Say no. Then all your promises fulfilled? Said yes, Lord. Now your time has come. So the devil was killed, and happiness of the bhaktas. Similarly, Duryodhana, he ordered Duśāsana, his brother, to take the dress away, the sari of Draupadī, you know them from Mahābhārata. But her devotion to God was a thousand times more. There was one naughty man, nearly like a rākṣasa. And God Viṣṇu was counting the mistakes of that man. What was his name? Śiśupāla. So God said, "One more mistake, two, three, four, five, now finished." Sudarśana cakra. So through the Sudarśana cakra, the little finger was hurt, and blood came from God Viṣṇu. Everybody said, "Oh, oh, first aid, first aid, have you some bandage? Have you something like this?" But Draupadī had a beautiful, new, expensive sārī. She didn’t think anything. She tore her sari and wrapped it on his finger. That time, Kṛṣṇa said to Draupadī, "Draupadī, now I am ready for you. Now I owe you something. For each thread of your sārī, I will pay you back thousands of meters." And so when Draupadī was calling, that time the God Viṣṇu blessed with the sari, and Duḥśāsana was completely exhausted. So if you give one paisa to God, he gives you one million. One rupee for one million. Good business? Very good. But give from the heart. What was the joy of Draupadī? What was the joy of the Pāṇḍavas? Was celebrating. Similarly, Meera was poisoned by her father-in-law, and with a trick, told it was the holy water of her master’s feet. Drink it, charaṇāmṛta. There are many kinds of amṛta: charaṇāmṛta, pañchāmṛta, vachanāmṛta, jñānāmṛta. She said, "Oh, of my Gurudeva’s feet," she took and drank and began to dance. So, no poison had an effect on her body. Love, faith, confidence, that’s it. Therefore, every holy festival has a background, a very clear background, and the end is a happy end. And when the end is happy, how happy are you? Very happy, we celebrate. And therefore, all festivals in India are connected with nature, with God, with the environment, and with happiness. Now, every girl must go and give water to the people and also the birds, bend the trees, water them, so that they will get a good, healthy, beautiful husband. And who doesn’t want a good, beautiful husband? And they should give and give water. The background is this: for the protection of the environment, the garmī, the hot summer, is coming. There is no water. So the banyan tree needs water. Definitely, because this girl goes with a pure heart, with pure belief, and they will get it. You have to wait one year, two years, three years, five years, ten years, twenty years. Don’t hurry. Even if you are eighty years old, maybe next life. Don’t change your opinion and your feelings. Play with your feelings. Who plays with the feelings is lost forever. That’s it. So now, in the Kumbha Melā time, millions of devotees, sādhus, yogīs, and all other people around the world gather at the bank of the holy Gaṅgā in Haridwar. And you never know who is just taking a bath, who dips in the river; maybe Brahma or Shiva himself. kis rūp mein Nārāyaṇ mil jāye. You never know in which form suddenly God is standing in front of you and taking a bath, and that water touches your body. What do you want more? Is life. Jal jaha jagdīś, where the water, there’s God. Water is life. Water is divine. Without water, there’s no life at all. And that is the holy Gaṅgā, because the Amṛta was dripping there. So let us go and celebrate the happiness of the holy Kumbha Melā. So I invite you all, dear devotees around the world, come and take bath. I will be between you two. You will see where Mahāprabhujī comes, Alakpurījī comes. Alaknanda water is flowing there from the holy feet of our grand, grand, grand master Alakpurījī. Bless you today and next time. Tomorrow will be again 7:30. I will be with you through the webcast. But who sees tomorrow? Did you see tomorrow? So, that tomorrow can come in ten days. I am sorry because my cameraman is going away tomorrow to Jaipur. So, tomorrow there will be no webcast. So, there is only a cast. So, many, many castes, you know: Kṣatriya, Brāhmaṇa, Ṛṣya, Udda, Śūdra, and webcast. One caste is more. How many casts? Broadcast. Webcast. So, all the best. Till next time, I hope from the Kumbh Melā, we will send you the webcast live or just record it. Bless you, wish you all the best, and looking forward to seeing you. Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān.
