About darshan

A discourse on the spiritual power and importance of darśan, or sacred sight.

"Through darśan, many, many sins are removed. What we call God-realization is to see God."

"As long as you have darśan, negative energy cannot attack. And constantly the nectar, the ambrosia of blessing, is flowing."

The speaker elaborates on the profound significance of receiving the gaze of a saint or Gurudev, describing it as a shower of blessings that purifies the heart and awakens energy. He explains that the eyes are a conduit for the soul and that this divine sight (darśan) is the greatest prasād (blessed offering), capable of removing sins and altering destiny. The talk references a bhajan by Mahā Holī Gurujī and draws a parallel to the loving sight of family photographs to illustrate how sight awakens corresponding feelings.

At least give me darśan quickly once more. I am caught in the net of doubt and complexity. Lord, take care of me quickly. Be merciful and grant me darśan again and again. The more times one has darśan, the greater our benefit. If there is any chance to have darśan, we should not miss it. We should seize the opportunity. Through darśan, many, many sins are removed. What we call God-realization is to see God. We do not say we want to argue with God. We do not say we want to go to a coffee house with God, or for dinner. No, we want to see God, because just seeing is enough. When you see eye to eye, there is something flowing in and out. The eyes are such an important organ in the body that two unite through them. Through the eyes, your ātmā is looking. Your ātmā, your real self, is looking through the eyes. And when the Gurudev or a saint looks upon us, that is a shower of blessing. It is like a rain of blessing. It is like nectar of immortality, a rain of the nectar of immortality. That is why Mahā Holī Gurujī said in one bhajan: "Amṛt Sāgar, Prakāś puñj, Amṛt ke Sāgar Śrī Dīpa Harī Mahādhānī hai." Prakāś puñj—Prakāś is the light, puñj is like a bunch or like a sun, the source of the light. Prakāś puñj amṛt ke sāgar—an ocean of nectar. Śrī Vibhārī Madānī, Mahāprabhujī is the greatest giver. So, when the saint, the Gurudev, gazes upon you, it is that energy which penetrates through and through. One can feel the purification in the heart. Energy awakens in each and every blood cell. It means it is going through the process of purification. And then again and again there is a longing to have darśan. Bharamjāla is a very big net of confusion and doubts. So, darśan—why do we have photos in the house? Just to see, for darśan. You have a photo of your father, your mother, grandmother, grandfather. When you look at them, you are happy. That is a darśan which keeps you transmitting the happiness, the relations. So, with which feeling you see, that feeling awakens in you. Or what kind of object you see, that kind of feeling awakens. When you see your grandfather or grandmother, what kind of feeling is it? And when you see your son or your daughter, what kind of feeling is it? So your ātmā knows what relation you have, and that wants to come nearer and nearer. Darśan. Darśan is the biggest prasād. Āśīrvād, blessing, is a prasād. So through darśan, many sins can be removed and many things can be removed from your destiny. As long as you have darśan, negative energy cannot attack. And constantly the nectar, the ambrosia of blessing, is flowing. So, whether you have darśan of the living master, or you have darśan of the master who is past abiding, there is energy and that flows. Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Welcome Seminar
