Gurupurnima Satsang part 3

A discourse on the significance of Guru Pūrṇimā.

"In the times of the Ṛṣis... disciples would travel to them from across the world. For them, this arrival was one of the happiest days—the day of union."

"Guru Pūrṇimā is the day, the time when disciples can be together. Blessed are they, lucky are they who can come today."

A spiritual teacher addresses a gathering on Guru Pūrṇimā, explaining the ancient tradition of seeking the guru and the profound importance of the disciple-master reunion. He emphasizes the transformative power of being physically present in the satsaṅg, where a divine energy radiates and amplifies one's inner state, setting the tone for the coming year. He conveys blessings from the lineage, discusses the value of darśan (sacred sight), and encourages love as the force that transcends all distance.

In the times of the Ṛṣis, the era of the Upanishads many thousands of years ago, the guru or ṛṣi would reside in a place, and disciples would travel to them from across the world. Their journey could take one year, ten years, or even twenty. There were no highways, only sandy paths through forests. There were no planes or road signs. At night, they would discern the direction for the next day by observing the sun. They traveled from caves, riverbanks, and forests, from all corners of the earth, to reach their master. For them, this arrival was one of the happiest days—the day of union. That Guru and Guru—the Guru is the master, and the Guru is the disciple. How did it become "Guru"? Guru means the teacher. In the West, some try to tarnish the name of Guru, making jokes about it. This is done purposely due to religious complexes. Otherwise, guru simply means teacher. Every priest is a guru. Every school teacher is a guru. So we are cutting the branch upon which we sit, and that is a shame. Guru Pūrṇimā is the day, the time when disciples can be together. Blessed are they, lucky are they who can come today. You have twelve months to work, but on this day you should take a holiday and spend these two or three days together. Perhaps you do not feel it, but the effect of being together is very deep. When you are in water of a good temperature, you do not feel the water on your body—only when you first enter it or when you come out. It is like that; there is a divine Śakti, and we are all within this divine Śakti. So they are the blessed ones who can be in the satsaṅg of their guru. If their guru is not near, but there is another guru and a satsaṅg there, you should go. One can go to any master's satsaṅg; it does not matter, because in your heart you have your master—you see your master in your heart. But to hear the satsaṅg and wisdom and receive blessings from another master is the same as receiving blessings from your own. Or you go to your master's āshram, to your master's bhakti satsaṅg. And if you have no possibilities, then you can go anywhere. Like when you are in a church, you pray to the church God; when you are in a temple, you pray to the temple God; when you are in an āshram, you pray to the āshram God. God is God, and that is it. And those who cannot come but are mentally together, blessed are they too, that they are mentally with their master. And those who have totally forgotten that today is Guru Pūrṇimā, they are the unlucky ones; they are ignorant. So today is Guru Pūrṇimā, and it reminds me of Gurujī's presence here. I spoke to Gurujī this morning, and he said to me, "Millions, millions of blessings." He said, "Lākho lākho blessings." So I give you the blessing of our beloved Gurudev, as well as Śrī Devpurījī's and Śrī Mahāprabhujī's blessing. It is a very beautiful day today, and I am, of course, especially very, very happy that you are all here and that we can all be together. You came from far distances, from different directions. What brought you here? The love. If there is love, there is no distance. And if there is no love, then just the neighbor's house is a million kilometers away. So love—where there is love, there is no distance. Where there is love, we are ever together. And so this love of the Master and disciple, and Mahāprabhujī's bhakti, that brings us together, and how beautiful. So Mahāprabhujī is very great. And now you see how great He is and how gracious is Devapurījī. I told you, he will keep Indra away as long as he wants, so we can have peaceful satsaṅg and it doesn't rain. That was before, Amṛta, Amṛta Bindu, the drops of the Amṛta. So I welcome you. I bless you and I pray to Mahāprabhujī, Śrī Devpurījī, Alakhpurījī, all Purījīs, that they bless you on this Guru Pūrṇimā. And if any karma or some mistakes, consciously or unconsciously, happen through us, may they forgive us, and we surrender all our deeds to their lotus feet as a token of our flowers, and thankfulness and prayer to them for the blessing to guide our next year, protect us, guide us, bless us and liberate us. We pray to them for this and bless with good health, happiness and a harmonious new year. And the same I pray for your families and all human beings, and the mercy of the Gurudev for all creatures. May all live in peace and happiness, and may all achieve the pūrṇā, this full moon. So I'm very happy that you came on this full moon day. There is an immense amount of positive energy. May you feel it. I don't know why I'm telling you, because you feel it. Or maybe you don't feel it. But there is so much energy here, very pure and positive. And this pure positive energy is filtering our negative energy. And everything will be developed. So in this minute, if you are jealous, then the whole year you will be jealous. If you are angry, the whole year you will be angry. If you are sad, then the whole year you will be sad. And if you are happy, relaxed and with forgiveness, then the whole year you will be very happy, very relaxed. So it is very important what you are feeling, what you are receiving. Because this energy which is radiating here for 48 hours, and 24 hours are already gone. Still, there will be 24 hours more, or I think 30 hours will be more. Out of 48 hours, about 12 to 18 hours are gone. Still, there are about 24 to 30 hours left. So this energy which is here, circulating about a one-kilometer radius, now this energy will support and nourish your feelings, your desires. So now your feeling means you are opening, maybe positively or negatively. Now you open, something must be filled in it. So that beautiful divine energy will be converted or will support your feelings. And therefore it's very important that you have a beautiful feeling, adhyātmik, the spiritual feeling. And these feelings you shall take home, and the whole year you shall keep these feelings; these feelings will remain with you. That's how it's functioning. So coming to the Master is very important. As many times as you see the Master, that is regenerating that energy; that's your benefit. As many times as you can see, even through the photos, you can regenerate the energy. When you know, you are doing the healing powers. And I can give you many examples. Let's say when you see the photo of your mother, the love of mother is increasing in your heart. When you see the photo of your father, or your sister, or a photo of your wife or your husband, or a photo of someone whom you don't like, you hate, that makes you angry. Now you see how you can gain the energy, or how energy is influenced by particular objects. And so through the photos you can recharge energy. But if you can come in the natural body nearer, that natural body which you can smell, which you can touch, which you can see, which you can feel, then there is more energy there; that energy is recharged. And then even if we go far, that energy functions. Therefore, in one bhajan, a great saint said, Śrī Āchārya Rāmjī, "Itnā to karnā gurujī, darśana jaldī denā. Itnā to karnā gurujī, darśana jaldī denā." O my dear Gurudev, please do at least that much: give your darśan as quickly as possible. It means, "Come so that I can see you as quickly as possible." And then, the whole bhajan, you know, has a beautiful meaning. So, the same thing Mahāprabhujī said in his bhajan: "Guru Deva Darśan Dhanahol Guru Dev Darśan Dhanam Guru Dev Darśan Dhanam Guru Dev Darśan Dhanam." Darśan is something very important; we get through the darśan that energy, that light, which is very, very important for us. Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Summer seminar
