Love removes fear

The human body is a vessel for awakening compassion through our inherent qualities. We are fortunate to obtain this form, given to help, protect, and guide others to God through love. Our heart is like an ocean: surface waves of worldly thoughts exist, but profound calm lies within. This inner tranquility arises from practicing our God-given human qualities. Utilizing them frees life from fear; neglecting them breeds anxiety and restlessness. Our being has real and unreal aspects. In the real, we cultivate love—thinking positively and wishing well for all. This love means contributing to others' happiness and never being the cause of their tears. Practicing this dissolves inner fear.

"Baḍā bhāga manuṣa tanu pāvā"—we are the fortunate ones to have obtained a human body.

"Sarve bhavantu sukhinaḥ"—may all be happy.

The great saint Tulsidās said: "Baḍā bhāga manuṣa tanu pāvā"—we are the fortunate ones to have obtained a human body. God has given us this human form to help others, to protect others, and to show them the way to God through love. To do this, we must awaken compassion. For this purpose, God has endowed us with many noble qualities, known as human qualities. The human heart is like an ocean—an endless ocean that always remains equal. Much water leaves the ocean as vapour to form clouds, and many rivers flow back into it, yet the ocean's level remains constant. On the surface, the ocean has waves, but at its depths, it is profoundly calm and peaceful. Similarly, on the surface of our minds, we have worldly thoughts and petty emotions, but within our heart, we can realize that inherent calmness and peace. This inner tranquility can only arise through the practice of our human qualities, which God has given us to utilize. If we utilize these qualities, our life becomes free from fear. Otherwise, even while inhabiting a human body, a person lives in constant fear, anxiety, restlessness, and uncertainty. Our being has two aspects: the real and the unreal. In the real aspect, we must cultivate love. When we think positively and wish well for others, why should we be afraid? Love does not merely mean giving a hug; it means holding thoughts of good wishes for all. "Sarve bhavantu sukhinaḥ"—may all be happy. May my neighbour be happy and prosperous. May my society and my country be happy and prosperous. May my whole world be happy. What can I contribute from my side to make them happy? If you cannot dry the tears of others, you should at least not be the cause of them. When we practice this kind of love, the indescribable fear we carry inside will vanish.
