I would like to introduce the representative from the Croatian government. I am delighted to say that we have the Consul General, Mr. Petar Ljubović, here, who is going to bring a message from His Excellency Stjepan Mesić, the President of Croatia. Consul General: Dear Professor Mahāmaṇḍaleshwar Paramahaṃsa Svāmī Maheśvarānanda, honored guests, and dear friends, The time we are living in is full of open questions which have not been resolved by any civilization so far. On the contrary, antagonisms and disharmonies are growing continuously. However, according to history, humanity today is given its own chance. The only and ultimate answer, reached after centuries of historic wisdom, is to follow the path of everlasting peace and tolerance among people, races, and religions. Peace is the way leading to knowledge and understanding, respect for diversities, and accomplishing once and for all the harmony of all living beings on this planet. The valuable work of Mahāmaṇḍaleshwar Paramahaṃsa Svāmī Maheśvarānanda, spiritual teacher and humanist, is admired today because he has been promoting the ideas of peace and non-violence worldwide for more than 30 years. Together with his followers, he is bringing to us the light of knowledge and awareness. The Republic of Croatia is honored to have been the host country of the Prayer for Peace which took place in Umag in 2001, as well as of many of Svāmījī's workshops on the sustainable development of planet Earth. Fully aware of Gandhi's message for mankind, I convey to you my deepest respect and expressions of thanks for your contribution to peace and tolerance, the two greatest tasks for our planet.
