World peace through inner peace

A spiritual discourse on attaining inner peace and liberation through personal practice.

"Liberation is not granted to anyone. It cannot be realized through material power, nor can it be bought in the market. It is very individual and a very inner thing."

"Tons of theory will not help you, but a gram of practice will. How long will we play a game with our intellect? So the first step is inner peace."

A spiritual teacher addresses a gathering, framing their time together as an "individual peace conference." He emphasizes that eternal peace requires purifying one's own consciousness through personal sādhanā (spiritual practice), as collective peace has been elusive since creation. He urges attendees to take full responsibility for their spiritual progress, using the week for sincere inner work.

Blessings of Mahāprabhujī to everybody. It is always paramānanda to see all guru-bhaktas together. Every creature is searching for happiness, and they are happy when they find what they are searching for. And so also the humans. The alcoholic is searching for alcohol, and when he finds alcohol, he is happy. Similarly, when a spiritual person finds spiritual people, he is happy. And therefore, here we are all together in this beautiful place, this beautiful country, with beautiful people who are hosting us. I pray to Mahāprabhujī for his protection and guidance, that in these few days we will receive immense blessings, energy, and peace of mind. As Elman Ubalmat, the priest, said, "Shānti is needed in the whole universe." Since creation took place, even the goddesses had discussions on how to keep the peace. Thousands of years ago, many sages wrote mantras on how to realize peace. Every incarnation of God was a messenger of peace. And in the present time, also, we are struggling to realize peace. So it seems that since creation began, there have been countless peace conferences. This means very clearly that from the beginning, peaceful space is missing. If we can realize collective peace, that would be best; otherwise, at least individuals should find peace within themselves. There is no other way. Therefore, we want to realize that parama shānti, the highest peace, and that can only be realized when we attain liberation. Liberation is not granted to anyone. It cannot be realized through material power, nor can it be bought in the market. It is very individual and a very inner thing. The possibility is there; the decision is yours. So if you neglect your sādhanā, it's your problem, and if you do your sādhanā, it's your thing. That parama shānti, that eternal peace, cannot be realized unless we purify our consciousness. To purify the antaḥkaraṇa—our mala, vikṣepa, and āvaraṇa—you know I have spoken many times about this. If you are jealous, it's your problem; it's no one's problem. If you are angry, you are destroying yourself. If you think negatively, you are harming yourself. No one is there to be sorry for you. Only you will be sorry for yourself. Therefore, Mahāprabhujī said in one bhajan: "I have to do only satsaṅg. If people are talking nonsense, let them talk. My greatest joy is satsaṅg. If people are talking nonsense, let them talk." So what he is saying or what she is saying, it is her problem or his problem. Why do you take on this extra problem from them? So think it over. It is only a chance. Tons of theory will not help you, but a gram of practice will. How long will we play a game with our intellect? So the first step is inner peace. There is no peace outside, because when we research, this creation has always been fighting. God Kṛṣṇa was incarnated to create peace. He Himself went to the Kauravas to make peace between the Pāṇḍavas and the Kauravas. There was a peace conference for several days. The same thing at the time of Rāma, to keep the peace at home and in Sri Lanka. The same thing was with Buddha, or the same thing with Jesus. And we are all doing the same thing. We can realize peace for a while somewhere. But as many humans, that many ideas—that's it. One doesn't accept what others say. Therefore, in this short period of this Sādhanā Week—I call it Sādhanā Pūrva Sādhanā Week—do your sādhanā. Realize something. If you cry and if you are angry or unhappy, do it. You are not forced to do it. But still, if you want to be angry or jealous, do it. So ask yourself, "My friend, what do you want?" What you want now is not happiness. Therefore, final shānti is there when this consciousness will merge into the cosmic consciousness. So we are here all together, and we are having now a peace conference—an individual peace conference, an inner dialogue. By the end of the week, I will know what result you found. So I wish you a very happy stay, very glorious and divine hours. Do your sādhanā. Mahāprabhujī blesses you. Nipnaren Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa. Recording location: Hungary, Vep, Summer seminar
