Not just words but deeds are necessary for the environment

The planet is deeply polluted, primarily by aviation fuel, metals, plastics, and pervasive pesticides contaminating all water. This destruction causes the disappearance of vital species, from birds of prey to honey bees, leading to uncontrollable diseases. This grim situation is solely caused by human beings. We must take concrete action, transcending the limitations of religions, cultures, and nations. Conferences involve talk, but little is implemented. We must write down clear points for action and commit to following them. We can avoid many dependencies and make people conscious of different paths. Share knowledge on replacing artificial fertilizers and pesticides with natural alternatives. We must learn to help each other, focusing on organic produce and safe alternatives for soaps and cosmetics. Establishing a center for comprehensive health programs can awaken a new consciousness, for protecting the planet is a spiritual act. This significant undertaking, encompassing yoga and holistic well-being, will take time but will be successful.

"If the animals that eat other animals are dying, what must be the condition of the animals that consume the polluted grass and plants?"

"Protecting the planet is itself a spiritual act."

Filming location: Vép, Hungary

The space around us is deeply polluted. This is primarily due to the fuel burned by airplanes. The atmosphere is contaminated by combustion, aviation fuel, other metals, and plastics. The pervasive use of pesticides has also poisoned our world. There is almost no water available anywhere on the planet that is completely free from pesticide content. Even what you call mineral water contains traces of these chemicals. Consequently, the planet is polluted through and through. The result of this is the disappearance of countless lives and creatures. Vital species that maintain nature's balance are vanishing. The birds of prey that once lived in the forests are no longer found; they have died out. In India, just a few years ago, one could see many vultures flying in the sky, but now they are nowhere to be seen—they have simply disappeared. Now, even the honey bee is disappearing. Consider this: if the animals that eat other animals are dying, what must be the condition of the animals that consume the polluted grass and plants? Many uncontrollable diseases are appearing in the world as a result. This paints a very grim picture of our world, and it is a situation caused solely by ourselves. The only ones to blame are human beings. If we call this "development" and "progress," then what should we call it? This destruction we have wrought and continue to enact is horrible. I believe we must do something very concrete about it. To do so, we must transcend the limitations of our religions, cultures, nations, languages, and traditions. Often, our actions are dictated by identity—thinking "I am Indian, so I must do this," or "I am European, so I must do that." While many conferences are held worldwide, they mostly involve talk; very little is implemented. I was thinking yesterday that we should write down some clear points and commit to following them. In many ways, we are so dependent on current systems that we cannot avoid them entirely. However, there are many things we can avoid. We can make people more conscious and show them different paths. Therefore, I ask all of you sitting here: if you have ideas, write them down very clearly as points, not lengthy commentaries. We will collect them, review them, and in our next meeting, we will deliberate and decide on a course of action. So, everyone present, please think this through and write down your thoughts and suggestions. Be brief and clear, focusing on the essence. Write your points on a piece of paper. We will collect them, work on them, and reconvene. We can do something. Specifically, if anyone knows how to replace artificial fertilizers and pesticides—the chemicals used against plant pests and diseases—with natural alternatives, please share that knowledge. Perhaps someone among us knows what natural substances can protect plants. Furthermore, regarding all the washing powders, soaps, shampoos, cosmetics, and creams: if you know how to produce safe alternatives, we shall buy from you. We must learn to help each other. We should focus on organically grown grains, vegetables, and fruits. There are many avenues to explore, and we shall begin with this. We may need to establish new organizations or movements. Many such efforts have failed because their own members were not fully committed. But if we are able to accomplish something, be sure our names will be written in gold in the Book of Life, in God's book. Now is the time to support one of our centers—perhaps in Croatia, Hungary, or the Czech Republic—where we can establish comprehensive health programs. From there, a new consciousness should awaken, for protecting the planet is itself a spiritual act. This will not happen overnight; it will take time, but I am sure it will be successful. From such a center, we can spread this work around the world. This could be a very significant and beautiful undertaking for us now, alongside our yoga and daily life. It would encompass multi-activities: yoga, naturopathy, Ayurveda, and so many different things—all pertaining to health, naturopathy, and holistic well-being.
