Oh God Beautiful

A spiritual discourse on recognizing the divine in daily life and the importance of gentle, continuous practice.

"God is within you, and you have already seen God, but you don't accept Him. That's it."

"So it is a lifelong job for us to do great things, good things in life... continuity, slowly, slowly, step by step, that is very important."

Swami Ji delivers a satsang, explaining the two forms of God: the formless essence in all elements and the manifestation in all living creatures. He emphasizes that God is already visible to open eyes and uses the examples of divine figures like Rama and Krishna to illustrate that prayer and meditation are a continuous, lifelong practice. He advises gentle yoga, non-competitive practice, and compassionate action, even when tired, as the path to well-being and realization.

God is within you, and you have already seen God, but you don't accept Him. That's it. God has two forms. One is the nirākāra, the formless. He is in every element. He is in the air, He is in the fire, He is in the water, He is in the space, He is in our breath. We breathe in and out, and therefore He is not away from us; He is one with us, one without a second. The second form of God is His creatures. All living life on this planet represents God. O God beautiful, O God beautiful, O God beautiful. In the mountains and the forest, in the rivers and the ocean, O God beautiful, O God beautiful. In the desert, in the flowers, in the birds, and in every creature. O God beautiful. So we have seen it already, but we don't accept it. That's our problem. You want to see something with closed eyes. Why do you want to become blind? Open your eyes and see everything. See, God gave you beautiful eyes. Look, look, everything is beautiful. When you close your eyes, you just relax to become free from the stress and get inwardly relaxed. Self-realization, God-realization—you will realize all this in the last minute of your life. And so long you have to wait. If before you are saying that you are now self-realized and you see God and you are this, then I would say, "Thank you, congratulations." Let's take an example of God Rāma. Why did He meditate His whole life, though He was a god, and pray? Take an example of God Kṛṣṇa. Why did He pray and meditate? Take the example of Lord Jesus. Why did He meditate and pray when He was so perfect? Think of Lord Buddha. All the time He was praying and meditating. Why? Or Mahāprabhujī, or any holy saint in this life—lifelong they were meditating and praying. So it is a lifelong job for us to do great things, good things in life. It doesn't matter which direction, which field of life. If you want to have a happy family, then lifelong you have to cultivate, you have to cultivate love. You have to, day by day, increase your love towards your family. You must love your partner; then you will have a happy marriage. If you want to be healthy, then eat healthy food every day, not one day healthy food and then the whole year unhealthy food. That doesn't function. So continuity, slowly, slowly, step by step, that is very important. And so it is in yoga, that you practice very gentle exercises, no competitions. We don't want to show our muscles. These muscles, how long? How many years? Ten years, twenty years, thirty years, forty years, fifty years, seventy years, eighty years, ninety years, one hundred years, one hundred five years, one hundred ten years, my dear. And then what is with your muscles? Where are these muscles? Yes, you will see under my photo. Children, one day—moment, moment—I must show you the photo. But where are my glasses? Glasses. On, on, ... on. Yes, this one. Therefore, nothing is permanent. We pray to God. And you know that we can say thanks to God. We are healthy, no? That's it. So, do gentle things. Don't do extremes. Don't do something that exhausts you. Yes, do something even when you are exhausted. Help someone. Help your wife to carry all the shopping bags, though you are exhausted. That's good. Help your husband. Help your children. Help the needy one. There, if you have to do something, hard work is okay. So, gentle postures accept your body. Gentle prāṇāyāms accept your body. Gentle, fine sāttvic nourishment accepts your body, your spirit, your soul. Be happy, and then all chakras will function. Recording location: Australia, World Peace Tour 2004
