Slower breathing -- longer life

A spiritual discourse on breath, destiny, and the purification of negative emotions.

"Every breath is like diamonds because the number of breaths is already fixed for your life in your destiny."

"The second Rākṣasa is your own anger; it drinks the blood of others and your own blood."

The speaker teaches on the divine economy of breath, explaining that one's allotted breaths are fixed by destiny but can be expended more slowly through spiritual practice. He describes how anger, jealousy, and fear accelerate the breath and destroy health, equating these states to internal demons. The path to slowing the breath and extending life's quality is through daily prāṇāyāma, meditation, and mantra, which cultivate a calm and comfortable state.

God does not love only humans. You should be very clear about that. If He is the Creator, then He loves His entire creation. However, our duty is to serve and help humans to become healthy. We should not be aggressive or violent toward any creature. When a moment is gone, it is gone; even one second is too late. You have no power to inhale. It is God's power that allows you to inhale and to exhale. Every breath is for us a very precious diamond or pearl. Every breath is like diamonds because the number of breaths is already fixed for your life in your destiny. The breaths allotted for our life are counted in our destiny. Just as you have, let's say, a thousand forints. You can use it in one day or in one month; afterward, you will get nothing. So, the number of breaths is already fixed by destiny. You can do thousands of things, but you cannot prolong it. Yet, there is one way to slow it down. Normally, we breathe 15 breaths a minute. But those who do prāṇāyāma and bhastrikā every day, and are not scared, jealous, or angry—because a person who is jealous and angry is killing their healthy cells—their breath rhythm becomes slower. Their breath is too strong and quick when they are in such states. Therefore, Holy Gurujī said in one bhajan, "Don't worry, the Gurū will protect you." So don't be scared; fear is like a rabbit. Fear is like a rabbit when you are breathing quickly. When you are angry, you are breathing quickly. What does He hear, my dear Lord? You are killing yourself. There are two kinds of devils: one is the real Rākṣasa, which drinks only the blood of others, and the second Rākṣasa is your anger. The other kind of Rākṣasa is your own anger; it drinks the blood of others and your own blood. A jealous person is never relaxed. A jealous person never knows how to relax. It doesn't matter if you are on an airplane, on the beach, or anywhere. A jealous person thinks constantly about those they are jealous of. It is like someone in love who thinks constantly about someone. But thinking about a beloved one is healthier, while thinking about someone with jealousy is unhealthy. So there are two kinds of suicide. One is hanging yourself, which you should not do, and the second is to be jealous and kill oneself lifelong, like cutting the throat slowly. It depends on you—you can be jealous of your neighbor who has a beautiful car, and you don't even have a bike, or you can be jealous of some politician, a rich man, or many, many colleagues, and so on. Therefore, those who meditate and do prāṇāyāma, and especially the mantra, their breath remains reduced; this is more than half. Per minute, six to seven breaths. And you feel comfortable.
