Control your destiny, do not wait for the change idly

A discourse on the power of Kriyā practice to transform one's karmic destiny.

"If you cannot dry the tears of another, then do not be the cause of those tears. Everyone else may forgive you, but destiny will not."

"Your original destiny will still be there. But somehow, you will develop another destiny in parallel; you will cultivate another power that runs alongside it and can overtake the first."

The speaker explains the profound impact of Kriyānusthān, describing it as a technique that purifies the systems of the body and touches the level of consciousness where karma is stored. Using analogies of stirring dust in a water tank and escaping a wild animal, he illustrates how sustained practice, mantra, selfless service, and Guru's grace can create a new, protective destiny that supersedes one's original karmic trajectory.

Therefore, I often say: if you cannot dry the tears of another, then do not be the cause of those tears. If you cannot build someone's confidence or faith, at least do not be the destroyer of it. Everyone else may forgive you, but destiny will not. That is the truth. To understand what we are doing here—the understanding of mantra—is to understand destiny, to accept destiny, and to understand that the human being is that center which is the center of cosmic energy. All the systems within the body must be purified. For this very reason, Kriyānusthān has been contemplated for a very long time. It is a very powerful technique. The best practice, of course, is to perform it for a whole year, or for five or six years. But perhaps you will do that when you are on pension. Right now, we are in tension. This kriyā is that which touches the level of your consciousness where your karma, your various karmas, are stored. How? For example, imagine you have one tank. You put water inside, and slowly, slowly, dust also settles in. After ten years, there is about 10-20 centimeters of dust at the bottom. Yet on the surface, the water appears clean. Now, the kriyā is like taking a stick and trying to remove that dust. In doing so, it will mix everything up. That ten years of dust represents ten lifetimes of karma. These mantras and positive mental tendencies (vṛttis) act as a filter system. Your original destiny will still be there. But somehow, you will develop another destiny in parallel; you will cultivate another power that runs alongside it and can overtake the first. For instance, imagine you go for a walk in the forest and see a wild animal about to attack you. You run, but the animal is quicker. It will definitely catch you. Yet, luckily, there is a motorbike nearby. You take the motorbike and flee to the nearest hut in the forest. The animal follows and comes to the hut. But then it sees that you are now under protection, and it turns away. Similarly, your destiny will still be there and may attack you again. But through your kriyās, anuṣṭhāns, selfless service (sevā), service to the Guru (guru-sevā), and adherence to the Guru's word (guru-vākya), you will create a better, more powerful destiny. This powerful destiny will protect you through the Guru's grace (guru-kṛpā). This is very important. Therefore, do not neglect your sādhanā. Recording location: Hungary, Vep, Summer Workshop
