What is the bindu chakra?

A spiritual explanation of the Bindu Chakra and the nectar of ambrosia.

"The Bindu Chakra is located on the top of the head. It is not exactly like a chakra; it is a kind of center that produces what is called ambrosia."

"Thus, the divine ambrosia has a completely different taste... It is not like a full spoon; it is very few drops, like a single drop."

The speaker describes the location and function of the Bindu Chakra, explaining it as a source of ambrosia or nectar. He details the paradoxical nature of this substance's taste and connects its awakening to specific yoga practices and mantra vibration, while distinguishing the experience from literal sweetness or physical light.

Recording location: Hungary, Vep, Summer Seminar

The Bindu Chakra is located on the top of the head. It is not exactly like a chakra; it is a kind of center that produces what is called ambrosia. Some refer to it as the Chandra Chakra, because Lord Kṛṣṇa said in the Bhagavad Gītā, "I enter into the vegetation as the nectar, the sweetness through the moonlight." The Bindu Chakra is located here on the top of the head. When you have very short hair, you will see a kind of whirling pattern there. That whorl originates from the Bindu Chakra. This chakra helps us to live long, supports our memory, and its development is achieved primarily through yoga kriyās: Viparītakaraṇī Mudrā, Jālandhara Bandha, Khecarī Mudrā, and Kriyā Yoga. Through these practices, that ambrosia can be reached. Now, that nectar, that ambrosia, is not necessarily sugar-sweet. It must not be honey-sweet. It does not have to be like sugar or honey. It is a different kind of sweetness. It may even be bitter. You might perceive it as bitter, but it is not truly bitter. This presents a different test, similar to enlightenment. Enlightenment does not mean you close your eyes and see a lot of light as you do with open eyes now. There is, of course, a technique to see exactly as you do now with closed eyes. You could even drive a car with closed eyes by operating the pupils and placing lenses not inside the eye, but on the eyelids. It is a folding system, so when you open your eyes you see everything, and when you close your eyes you still see everything, allowing you to drive a car. But the light of wisdom in enlightenment is called knowledge; it is not this physical light we see. Thus, the divine ambrosia has a completely different taste. Generally, there are seven different tastes, and ambrosia is above them all, making it very hard to know. It is not like a full spoon; it is very few drops, like a single drop. Only its radiance touches you sufficiently, similar to homeopathy, where one drop of an essence can be used to make a hundred gallons of medicine. The amount of divine vibration you create in your body through singing mantra is the measure of the ambrosia's awakening. For more detail, you can read the rest in my book, "Chakras."
