You are me and I am you

A spiritual discourse on non-duality and divine unity.

"Tu so mehi, mehi so tu he. You are I, and I am you."

"Then Holy Gurujī, with folded hands, said, 'Lord, everything is clear.'"

Swami Maheshwarananda delivers a teaching centered on the principle of non-separation, explaining that the feeling of physical separateness is the root of suffering. He references a bhajan by Gajananjī and describes his own role as a channel through which his Gurudev speaks, emphasizing the need to integrate devotional songs deeply into one's consciousness and practice.

Tu so mehi, mehi so tu he. You are I, and I am you. Tu muj se ne nyāro—you are not separate from me. Consider the bhajan composed by Gajananjī: "Since Mahāprabhujī and Gurujī live in me." This means we are three. Yet not three, but one. And so, you are me and I am you. There is no difference. The problem is that you feel separate. You feel separate because you still feel physically. This physical attachment is the greatest blindness. Otherwise, ever and ever, there is not a half-millimeter of distance. We are closer than you could think. But the way you are thinking now is farther than you could think. Unless this distance is removed or covered, the suffering will not go away. Loneliness, separation, loss, aloneness, and pain will all remain. Tu so mehi—what you are, that I am. Mehi so tuhe—and what I am, that you are. Tu muj se nehin nyāro—you are not separate from me. Then Holy Gurujī, with folded hands, said, "Lord, everything is clear." And therefore, Holy Gurujī said, "Mahāprabhujī is always with us." In the bhajan, "Bhajore manva śrī pūjī deep dayā," it concludes, "On my head, he is the protector." Every bhajan you should not only look at, read, and sing, but utilize in your teachings, in your speaking, in your practice. They should go more deeply into your consciousness. Then, in that way, my Gurudev is talking through me. You think this Maheshwarānanda is talking. If Maheshwarānanda were talking, then very soon we would say, "When will we have lunch?" It is he who is talking. I am only trying to be a strong channel. Sometimes it is so strong, the stream flows so powerfully, that tears come from the eyes so quickly. I try to tie the pipe again. Therefore, always do this. Nāha Prabhupāda. Nāha Prabhupāda. --- Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Summer seminar
