Meeting Fatima Meer and Swami Sahajanand

We gather to honor service and spirit in this community. A spiritual leader was appointed to guide humanitarian work here, providing aid without discrimination. Daily, thousands receive free food and medicine. This service has been recognized with a national humanitarian award. Today we also acknowledge a dedicated soul who worked for freedom, faced imprisonment, and contributed to a notable biography. Despite a health challenge that required a wheelchair, perseverance and practice are supporting recovery. We celebrate these lives of commitment.

"Thousands of children and poor people receive food from the āshram every day, along with medicine; everything is free."

"She went to prison, fought for the freedom of South Africa, and she is a co-writer of the biography of Nelson Mandela."

Filming location: Durban, South Africa

Reverend His Holiness Swāmījī, his respected sister Sajjanandini Padmina, dear brothers and sisters, and devotees of the āshram and the Divine Life Society. Adoration to the divine law, to His Holiness Swāmījī Ānandjī Mahārāj, the Bhagavad Gītā, Mahāprabhujī, all spiritual lineages, the great saints of this world, and the great incarnations on this earth. And at the holy lotus feet of Divine Mother Gaṅgā. We are all fortunate to be here today in this Divine Life Society of South Africa. Swāmījī was nominated by His Holiness Swāmī Śivānandajī Mahārāj as a successor and spiritual leader for South Africa. We have done a tremendous amount of humanitarian work without any duality or discrimination towards caste, colour, religion, or tradition. He also equally arranges and prepares ceremonies and facilities for Christian religions, for Muslims, for Hindus, as well as for people who are poor. Thousands of children and poor people receive food from the āshram every day, along with medicine; everything is free. It is my great privilege to tell you that the government of South Africa has recognized and awarded him with a great humanitarian award as one of the great saints and humanitarians in Africa, so we thank him. We will have a ceremony and some presents for Swāmījī and others after my evening satsaṅg. At the same time, I am very, very happy to introduce you to a very great soul, a hidden saint in this form: Bhakti Maa. Here she has been working for the people of South Africa. Many times she went through many, many difficulties. She went to prison, fought for the freedom of South Africa, and she is a co-writer of the biography of Nelson Mandela. She is a very close friend and co-worker with Nelson Mandela, and she is kind enough. Two years before, when I came to South Africa, she wanted to come to introduce me and give the introduction about me. I had a lecture at the university in South Africa, the University of Zorizmer. Unfortunately, she got health complications and she couldn't move. She was nearly paralyzed, and for two years she is now, you see, in a wheelchair. So, but thanks to God that she survived and she is getting better and better. She is practicing Yoga in Daily Life exercises. She got our book. I advised her sometimes, and I do hope that she is keeping it all.
