Knowledge

There are two kinds of knowledge: limited and endless. Endless knowledge flows from a supreme source, and the intellect can become a channel for it. This channeling is not easy but comes to those who sincerely try. The limited knowledge is called Aparāvidyā, learned from birth to death through worldly education and practice. It is useful for life but fades without use and ends with this body. This knowledge distinguishes humans, granting logic and the basis for ethics like non-violence. However, this same human capacity can be used for good or evil, making one a friend or enemy to oneself. Misusing this knowledge causes harm. Its application requires the control of inner logic to maintain harmony. The endless knowledge is Parāvidyā, the supreme spiritual wisdom beyond intellect. When it awakens, it opens the third eye of insight into past, present, and future.

"Aparāvidyā is that kind of knowledge which will accompany us only until the end of this life."

"Parāvidyā is the knowledge about those things which our intellect cannot grasp. It is supreme knowledge, spiritual knowledge, universal knowledge."

Knowledge is endless, and there are two kinds of knowledge. One is limited knowledge, and the other is endless. This is because the source of that endless knowledge is somewhere else, and your consciousness or intellect becomes a channel connected to that source. To teach, or to be in harmony with that fine-tuned source, is not easy; it is not everyone’s job. But it comes. Those who wish to have it, who try, will definitely achieve it. Thus, there are two kinds of knowledge: one is called Vācārthī and the other is called Lakṣyārthī. This knowledge we also call Aparāvidyā and Parāvidyā. Aparāvidyā is that kind of knowledge which will accompany us only until the end of this life. Slowly, our memory will become weaker and weaker, because our memory is trained; our memory is that intellect. It is a trait learned in this world and is therefore limited. It will remain with us only as long as we are in practice. The telephone numbers you use every day several times, you know by heart. If you do not use those numbers for one or two years, they fade from your memory. This is called Aparāvidyā. Aparāvidyā is that knowledge which is learned from birth to death—from parents, colleagues, friends, school, college, university, and so on. This knowledge is good; it is not bad. The difference between animals and humans is this: the human intellect can be trained endlessly, while an animal’s intellect cannot. As much as a human learns, they are called a civilized creature. The human intellect possesses a particular tendency: the sense of knowledge and logic. Other creatures do not have this logical knowledge. It is due to this logic that we employ the world’s ethical and moral principles, what we call Ahiṃsā, non-violence. Non-violence toward anyone: your partner, your wife. Unfortunately, many ladies are unhappy because their partner drinks too much. When he is drunk, his behavior is very rude toward her. There are also ladies who abuse alcohol, for aggression is in the nature. This aggression can be provoked by something, including through drugs. Therefore, to use drugs, including alcohol, is a distraction for the human intellect and mind. Consequently, for those who abuse drugs and alcohol, their channeling system, their knowledge of Parāvidyā, does not open. Humans possess this ability, and that is why we call humans the best creatures. Not because humans have two legs, two hands, and a beautiful face. For us, our face is beautiful, but the crocodile has a crocodile face, and it is beautiful to it. So who are we to say we are the best? A diamond never says, "I am a diamond." But we say it is a diamond. The human is the best because of human qualities. Does the human recognize these qualities and utilize them for life? Then that human becomes holy. Or does a human awaken aggression and other qualities and become like a devil? Violence must not be only physical. It can be mental violence, emotional violence. Also, in writing there can be violence. In behavior there can be violence. When you want to talk to your partner and your partner avoids speaking with you, that means the partner is using violence against you. Perhaps he or she is not aware, but it is a form of violence. One is the master of oneself. The human is a friend of oneself, and humans are the enemy of themselves. Because humans have immense abilities, and these qualities, these abilities, can be utilized for good things or for bad things. So, the Aparāvidyā we learn in this world as a profession, as education, is called Aparāvidyā. This knowledge will guide us in this life, and we should utilize this knowledge for good things. No school, high school, college, or university will teach you to use your knowledge for negative things. If we misuse our knowledge, we abuse this world. It is very powerful. If we abuse what we have learned—as an engineer, a scientist, or even as a driver—we can make a great mistake. Therefore, though we have this knowledge, it also needs control. This control is the logic within. If logic is absent, then there is disharmony of the body, the mind, and the soul. Parāvidyā is the knowledge about those things which our intellect cannot grasp. It is supreme knowledge, spiritual knowledge, universal knowledge. When that knowledge awakens, then we know many, many past lives. At that time, our third eye opens. Now, the third eye does not mean a physical eye will open here. No. The third eye symbolizes knowledge and wisdom. That third eye is the eye which can see in three times: the past, the present, and the future.
