Sat - Cit - Ananda (Part 2)

The man-made world is imperfect, born from an unsteady mind of desire and greed, which is the root of conflict and suffering. The perfect, divine reality is within. Do not trust the changing mind with its selfish cravings, which are the five imprisoning demons. True peace is found not in external pursuits but by turning inward through prayer and merging individual consciousness with the eternal, blissful cosmic consciousness. This supreme state of truth-consciousness-bliss is our real nature, beyond the temporary, causal body of desires. All genuine spiritual paths ultimately point to this same truth of non-violence, honesty, and inner divinity.

"Live as God wants."

"Whenever you feel anxiety within you, there is no medicine and no one who can help you except prayer."

The man-made world is imperfect, and the God-made world is perfect. What we call sustainability is the greediness of humans, which does not allow us to simply be. You can produce a car that needs only half a liter of petrol for a hundred or a thousand kilometers. You can even design a car without petrol. But God does not want this. Which God? Jesus said, "Don’t believe in the wrong God." That wrong god is money. All wars around the world are not for creating peace, but for money. To create a war means all your products will be sold. We pray for peace, and they pray for war because they have all these products—weapons. Once I had a disciple who was selling all the things in his shop for funerals. Sometimes nothing was sold because no one died. So I asked him, "What do you think about your business?" He said, "Sorry to say, Swamijī, but every day when I enter my shop, I pray to God, 'Today should die more people, that I can sell my things.'" These things belonged to funerals. That is the nature of it. Therefore, this world is created out of the mind, and the mind is not steady. Saṅkalpa and vikalpa—do not trust your mind, and that is the problem. Otherwise, people who are always changing will never be happy in their life. The true place is within you. So it is said: live as God wants. Jis halme, jis chalme, Śrī Rām—in whatever condition you are, in whatever situation you are, take the name of God. Whenever you feel anxiety within you, there is no medicine and no one who can help you except prayer. When you do not see the way out of certain problems or situations in life, through prayer you will find a way. If you think of yourself only physically—"I am tired, I am relaxed, I love, I enjoy"—then you are very selfish and greedy. Mahatma Gandhi said, "There is enough in this world for everyone’s need, but not enough for everyone’s greed." So, who thinks too much? "I like this, and I don’t like this," and "I feel comfortable here, and I feel not this, that"—that is a greedy person. That person is caught by these five Rākṣasas: Kāma, Krodha, Mada, Lobha, and Moha. These five Rākṣasas. You cannot move. They observe you day and night. You are imprisoned by them. So, where are those who are free from this? They should become your slaves. They should become your guards, but not your boss. Yoga is not only that you do exercises and breathe in and out and lie down and do nice yoga. "Oh, I’m relaxed, happy. Very nice, was it?" Go in the sauna; you will be relaxed. But this is something beyond. Satt citta, and that is citta, that consciousness—spotless consciousness, crystal clear consciousness. Niranjan, without any rañj, without spot. That your consciousness is pure, clean, that we do not have a bad conscience, we do not have bad intention in our conscience. It is that consciousness like the sun; no dirt or dust can reach the sun. So that ātmā, that consciousness, cannot be attacked by any karma. Ānanda is bliss. There are two kinds of ānanda: a temporary joy, happiness, and everlasting bliss. The temporary joy is more connected to our senses, and that is changeable. If you do not change, you will cause unhappiness and disappointment. So, the joy of the joy is little joy compared to the sorrow of that joy. And that is limited to the Ānandamaya Kośa. Ānandamaya kośa is the causal body. The causal body is in Sanskrit kāraṇa śarīra also. Kāraṇa śarīra. Causal means cause, the cause of death, and that is a body of desires. Your feelings are from that body. Kāma, Krodha, Mada, Lobha, Moha, Ahaṅkāra are all warriors of the Ānandamaya Kośa. If you break through, then you come to the bliss, divine bliss. If you conquer them... "I am bliss, I am bliss, I am supreme bliss." Then you realize, my real being is cidānanda, cit and ānanda, everlasting bliss, that eternal consciousness, śivo’ham—that I am Śiva, not that physical form of Śiva, but Śiva is eternal. Universal Shiva means consciousness, Shiva means liberation, Shiva means beauty, Shiva means joy, Shiva means happiness, Shiva means light. That is why the Śakti, the Kuṇḍalinī, that individual consciousness, is always longing to merge into the cosmic consciousness. The union of Śakti and Śiva, or Śiva and Śakti. This is Shiva, the consciousness, and Shakti, the matter—that solid, dormant, immense energy, but dormant. Or prakṛti and puruṣa, nature and consciousness. So this individual consciousness, the individual self, merges into the eternal one. It is possible. It is not a fairy tale. But my dear, that needs discipline, and that needs practice. Nothing is given to us without anything. So sac-cid-ānanda, sac-cit-ānanda—if something is, then it is satya. So Brahman is, therefore Brahman is satya, and this changeable world is mithyā. This beautiful hall, which cost millions or billions of dollars—one day you will be surprised. It will be pulled down. That is it. So if there is something, that is a satya, something. Yes. That eternal, everlasting sat. In India, there is one spiritual group or religion called the Sikh religion. They have very divine instructions in the Guru Granth Sāhib. For them, the Guru Granth Sāhib is the embodiment of their Master. Guru Granth Ko Janiye, Pragerdha Guru Anki—they believe that Guru Vakya, the book of the Gurudeva, is the embodiment of the Gurudeva. They believe that Guru Vakya, this is their book, the Holy Scriptures, is the embodiment of Gurudeva. In their heart, where this truth and love is, devotion, they will find in this Gurudeva inside. They will see Gurudeva inside. And they greet Sat Savikār. Sat Savikār means we accept the truth, the reality, that truth, Satya. In Christianity, it is said, "Thou shalt not lie," which is actually the principle of their yama and niyama, which was given before 2600 years. Those are not killed. Ahimsā paramodharma was spoken in the Mahābhārata time, nearly 7,000 years ago, first time by Pitāmābhiṣma. Then great incarnation in Jainas, Mahāvīra. Then in the Testament, it is emphasized very strictly: those who are not killed. And Mahatma Gandhi dedicated his whole life to Satya, truth, Satyāgraha, and Ahiṃsā, non-violence. So, the entire world is connected, and therefore sattva citta is pure. Something which has joy must have joy inside. Ānand, bliss. So it is truth, living, and bliss. And that is in everyone. This kind of thinking or consciousness is very important for spiritual development, or sustainable development—to create harmony and peace, and understanding in the world: non-violence, no discrimination, no humiliation. Who respects this? So the yogīs should come to this point again. You are fortunate ones, that you are on this path with your free decision to decide this and realize this Self-realization of the Divine.
