Kundalini - Definition, part II.
Śiva is the pure consciousness that is liberation, truth, and beauty, equally present within all beings.
Śiva is the formless, universal consciousness and the source of liberation. This truth and beauty constitute the ultimate reality. Our ordinary awareness is impure and distant from this pure consciousness due to our karma. Within the body, this Śiva principle resides at the crown of the head. The energy that seeks unity with this consciousness is Śakti. Śakti, also within us, is bound by karma and longs for freedom. Liberation occurs only when Śakti merges into Śiva. This union transcends past, present, and future. It is the realization of being the pure consciousness itself.
"‘I am the pure consciousness’ is wisdom. ‘I am the body’ is ignorance."
"When Śiva and Śakti are in unity, when union takes place, that state is above the three things: past, present, and future."
