Mahāprabhujī said, "The complete realization, complete self-realization takes place through love." That universal love means bhakti. In this Kali-yuga, bhakti is the pradhān, is the main thing. Kali-yuga kevala nāma ādhāra. The Kali-yuga is based now on the name of God, that is all. The intellect for Kali-yuga is different. As humans develop in the Kali Yuga, we see what happens to human society. We see what happens to our vegetation, to the environment, to our family lives and social lives. Our cultures, morals, ethics, and traditions—what we see is the result of the intellect. That intellect is full of greediness and ego. If this intellect were full of bhakti, tyāga, tapasyā, and vairāgya—if it had these three principles—then this condition would not exist. Therefore, we must now cultivate tyāga (renunciation), tapasyā (austerity), and vairāgya (dispassion). Abhyāsa, abhyāsa—practice, practice. Try to keep mauna (silence). Speak only what is necessary, and observe thyself. In this year, ask: what have you achieved, and why not? If not, then why couldn't you? For every beginning, first we remember Lord Gaṇeśa. God Gaṇeśa is the remover of all obstacles and the giver of happiness. The most beautiful God is Gaṇeśa; no one can defeat Gaṇeśa's beauty and his gentle smile. It does not matter how you draw him; the final end is beautiful. This means in our beginning and in our program, we should invite Gaṇeśa. Invite him with great love, with flowers, with fruits, with candles, with the light of a ghee lamp, and with the smell of sandalwood. Place flower petals in front of him and request, "Please come."
