One Miracle

A spiritual discourse on the necessity of a guru and the nature of disciplined practice.

"Without a Satguru, you will not find the path; without Gurudev, you will not find it. Mark this, Jinabai, the path is very narrow."

"Sadhanā is a gradual, lifelong process of slow, step-by-step progress... one miracle is seen: that you attain mokṣa, that you become one with the Supreme."

The speaker, addressing disciples, emphasizes the absolute need for a spiritual guide, using the metaphor of a dangerous mountain climb. He outlines a practical path of sadhana integrated into daily life, discusses managing desires through discernment (viveka), and reflects on the blessing of having direct access to the guru. The core teaching is that the mind shapes reality and peace is found in abiding in bliss.

Mahāprabhujī said, "Without knowing, if someone tries to climb too high, they will fall down to the ground." If one attempts to ascend without knowledge, they will inevitably fall back down. Without a Satgurū, you will not find the path; without Gurudev, you will not find it. Mark this, Jinābāī, the path is very narrow. Consider this example: you are staying near mountains and a valley. You see the roots of the mountains and the high Himalayas, beautiful with snow. It looks so nice, near, and very easy. You might say, "No, I will climb; it just looks like that." Yes, do it. Then you will climb two times: a first time and a last time. But it is not as it appears. Therefore, we need a Gurū, a guide, a mountaineer. A climbing Gurū, a mountaineer who teaches you the skills for ascending the mountains, is also your Gurū. You must follow his instructions. Only then can you reach the summit. Otherwise, you cannot. Similarly, sādhanā is a gradual, lifelong process of slow, step-by-step progress. What I have designed for you is that kind of sādhanā—one where, while leading your normal life, you will achieve everything. Whether you are married, a bachelor, living alone, or wish to have children, everything is okay. If you perform the sādhanā accordingly, then of course do not expect all sorts of miracles. But one miracle is seen: that you attain mokṣa, that you become one with the Supreme. This is a lifelong commitment. You are fortunate to have a direct connection to me, to sit so near and close. You can talk to me. You will see that many masters do not even let you come near. Psychologically, the more you hide yourself, the more they try to come close psychologically. If I tell you I have something very beautiful in my hand, everyone becomes curious: "What is that? Show me." Our curiosity increases. Many try to keep something hidden, and you think there must be something there. So we are lucky that Mahāprabhujī is so close and we are so close. What do you miss now? You miss nothing. Therefore, it is beautiful. Sādhanā is the most beautiful part of our life. Of course, regarding those desires you cannot control, then do not try to control them. Forcing control will only become a source of your suffering. You cannot control desires unless you employ your viveka, your discernment. It is a thinking process: how you think. When you think of your enemy, you generate feelings toward the enemy. When you think of your father and mother, you generate feelings of love for them. When you think of your half-year-old baby, you feel that particular love for the child. You see, everything is mind. Manu mātra jagata—the world is merely mind. How you think determines how desire develops. Change the channels of your thinking, and life will become easier. If something comes, it comes; if it goes, it goes. Be śānta, be in ānanda—always abide in bliss. That is important. That is important. --- Recording location: Czech Republic, Strilky, Summer seminar
