Speciality of the Vajrasana

Vajrāsana is a posture of cultural dignity and physiological harmony. It aligns the body's subtle channels, balancing the solar and lunar energies within. The pose straightens the spinal column effortlessly, enhancing oxygen intake and circulation. This alignment relaxes the heart and digestive systems, promoting efficient function. Sitting in this posture after meals greatly aids digestion and can alleviate gastric issues. It also relieves tension in the shoulders, neck, and back, potentially reducing headaches. Regular practice supports the immune system and regulates metabolism without weight gain. The posture activates the Vajranāḍī, harmonizing many bodily systems.

This is an āsana that shows respect and upholds the dignity of culture. One must protect the dignity of every culture. Vajrāsana brings clarity to the heart and mind. When Muslims pray and Christians pray, it is a prayer in Vajrāsana. When Hindus perform āsana, it is also in Vajrāsana. Thus, Vajrāsana holds great meaning. The nāḍī that runs from between the big toe and the second toe is also an acupuncture point. This nāḍī touches three main points in the body: the Ājñā Chakra, which influences our consciousness, mental tendencies (vṛtti), and clarity. From the two petals of the Ājñā Chakra, two streams flow. Through the Sūrya Nāḍī (the right channel), it enters the heart cakra, the Anāhata. Thus, the heart muscles relax, and the function of the heart normalizes the heartbeat via the Sūrya Nāḍī—the right nostril that connects to the heart. The Chandra Nāḍī is the left one, which connects to our navel, the Maṇipūra Chakra, a center of fire. The heart is a water center, or a moon center, associated with emotion. This emotion is neutralized by the sun (Sūrya). The fire chakra, Maṇipūra, is neutralized through the moon (Chandra). Therefore, in Sanskrit it is said: in the moon there is a purak of the sun, and in the sun is the purak of the moon. "Purak" means to place something, to mix, to unite. So, through Vajrāsana, our Maṇipūra Chakra—our jāṭharāgni, or solar plexus—is automatically balanced. Nervousness, anxieties, and emotional problems are balanced in the heart. Disturbing thoughts and impurities are all cleared up, and you gain concrete visions and balanced thoughts. That is why, before beginning the Kathopaniṣad, one must sit in Vajrāsana. There is a significant difference between Sūrya Namaskār and Kaṭhuparaṇam. People think it is similar to Sūrya Namaskār. Of course, a donkey and a horse look more or less similar, but if you look carefully, there is a difference. Yes, between a cat and a lion there is a difference, though they are of the same family—perhaps. So, Vajrāsana. When we sit in Vajrāsana, our Vajranāḍī becomes uttijit—our Vajranāḍī becomes active. When the Vajranāḍī is active, many systems in the body are balanced. Now, let us consider the spinal column. Without any effort, automatically, the spinal column becomes straight. When the spinal column is straight, many problems are solved. What happens when the spine is straightened? Oxygen is very important for our body and brain function. We take in oxygen through our breath. We also take in oxygen through our nourishment. However, meat and eggs contain no oxygen; this is dead food. When you eat what is dead, you produce dead matter in the body as well. Raw food, salad, fruits, and various vegetables—they do not only contain vitamins, but they also contain oxygen, and that supports our body. Our body is able to take in more oxygen because the spinal column is straight. When the spinal column is straight, it not only affects the respiratory system, but the digestive system also relaxes. If you put your ear on someone’s stomach, you will hear how many workers are laboring inside and how many water channels are running, going click, click, click. Sometimes they are so loud that, although the body is well-covered and Mother Nature has made it soundproof, we can hear the sounds from outside. Sometimes the stomach's sounds are so loud you can hear every one. That is why it is advised that after every meal, if you can sit for a few minutes or 10-15 minutes in Vajrāsana, you are doing a great service to your body for digestion. Therefore, anyone who has gastric problems, any troubles, digestive issues, and so on, should sit in Vajrāsana. Practice Vajrāsana for one month. Make this your practice. Then you will become a devotee of Vajrāsana, like a devotee of Sonāmukhī. It is said that when you practice Vajrāsana for a longer period, you can solve many heart problems and blood pressure problems. It is also said that even diabetes can be solved. Why? People who have constipation and have to take medicine—after practicing Vajrāsana for one month, you forget the medicine because Vajrāsana will help you all the time. Now, for those who have problems with veins and cramps, it is a blessing. Because when you perform Vajrāsana, there will be a suppressive massage on them, and that will improve blood circulation. While coming here, Rādhā told me that those who have cramps should not do it. I said, "No, no, they must do it." So she said, "Then medical books must be rewritten." So be it, yes. Do you think what is written in the medical book in the hall is correct? And do you think what is written in yoga books is always correct? You do not know if it is really written by some experienced expert. So they are right, and they are not right. They are right as a book, but perhaps they are not right as a practice. It is always individual cases. So for your cramps, and if you have problems with your veins, then Vajrāsana will help you. Thus, Vajrāsana is a blessing. Now, those who have pain in the neck and shoulders, this part of the body—if you sit in Vajrāsana, the pain will disappear. Why? Because your whole trunk, your spine, is straight and your back muscles are relaxed. So your shoulders are completely relaxed. When the shoulders are relaxed, all problems are gone, and your neck is fine. When your back muscles, shoulders, and neck are relaxed, and circulation is good and oxygen is good, then what you call those who have headaches from time to time, migraines, can also be helped through Vajrāsana because of the Vajranāḍī, which is very much connected to the head. So your headache, head problems, could be solved by Vajrāsana. Those who practice Vajrāsana have a big appetite. They enjoy good food, and though they enjoy more food, they do not gain the kilos. That is a plus point. So after eating, you must sit in Vajrāsana for 15 minutes. Now, the technique of how to do Vajrāsana: both big toes should be touching each other, or slightly over-crossed—only the big toes. A supplementary pose to Vajrāsana could be Vīrāsana as well. "Vīra" means the hero. It makes you strong. That is an āsana which will strengthen you. Vīrāsana takes away anxiety. Vīrāsana pomáhá od strachu—it helps with indescribable fear, a fear you cannot explain what kind it is—nevysvětlitelného strachu. There are some people who have problems with the ears. We who do not have problems with the ears can thank God. If you do not have a problem, the sound in your head is one way. If you have a problem, it sounds another way. So there are some people who constantly hear some sound. It is very unpleasant, very unpleasant. Only they know what this terrible sound means. Vajrāsana, in Kaṭhupraṇām, because then Kaṭhupraṇām stimulates the energy in the body. Vajrāsana is one of the best postures which supports our immune system—imunitní systém. That is why we write in Kaṭhupraṇām that it improves the immune system—do účinků. So Vajrāsana is something exclusive. Today you have an exclusive seat on the Vajrāsana Bridge.
