Wisdom has no end

Reality exists independent of belief, like the sun shining regardless of opinion. Spiritual pursuit is often misdirected toward endless learning or the temptation of miraculous powers, which are illusions that divert from the true path. The direct realization of the Self and God-consciousness is the only essential knowledge; all other learning is secondary. A genuine spiritual connection, once found, ends the search. Intellectual knowledge is limitless, like a mountain, while true wisdom is a direct knowing of the one reality.

"Now I know that I don’t know."

"What you have learned till today about Vedas and spirituality... is only this much, as much as a sand corn."

There are different things. There is a belief, and there is a reality. It should not be a matter of "I believe in this God" or "I do not believe in this God." "I am Hindu" or "I am not Hindu." That is a different complexity. But reality is one thing. As I said, if it is God, then it is God. Whether you believe or you do not believe, the sun is shining. For our eyes, the sun is very bright. If you believe or you do not believe, the sun is bright. Similarly, if you believe in God or not, God is God. We should not make differences, and therefore, we are fortunate ones that we can be here and we can celebrate and adore Lord Śiva. For us, in the form of Śiva, is Śrī Devpurījī. Śrī Devpurījī, who had all these qualities of Lord Śiva. Through the presence of Devpurījī, many divine līlās happened, what you call siddhi. They did not demonstrate the siddhi, but the siddhi happened. There are two kinds of siddhas. A siddha is one who tries to achieve the siddhis and demonstrates the siddhis. Siddhi is like a māyā for the yogī or for the spiritual path. Māyā means illusion, temptation, and it takes you away from your path. So those who perform miracles lose their path. And after, when they will leave this world, they will not have mokṣa. But we worldly people here adore and admire the temptation of miracles. The second siddha is that one who never demonstrates, but it happens in their presence. That means that siddhi is following them. Siddhi is serving them, so that kind of siddhi is not an obstacle for them. That is Śiva. The siddhi is doing Śiva. Our spiritual lineages, those who have, when they meet the master once, then they are not running here and there. One philosopher said—it was a very great philosopher, you will know when I mention—and he said nearly at the end of his work, what he wrote, "Now I know that I don’t know." Because he knew so much, but he did not know one thing: that is God consciousness and God. So the temptation to learn, the temptation to create some siddhis, is a kind of self-abuse, to fulfill your longing, your desires for your ego. Therefore, you want to know more and more. But if really you want to know what is God and what is the self, then you will realize the Master, and then you will not run here and there. So we all who are sitting here, we have realized in our masters the divinity, the trinity, the reality, the unity, and spirituality, that we have everything. Learning has no end. There was a great ṛṣi or a yogī meditating for years and years. And the end of his life came. It is believed that at that time, people were living for thousands of years. They had different aims in life, not material life. Their aim was to learn wisdom. Spirituality is a huge knowledge. So he came to know there is a Vedas existing. And so, at the end of his life, he was very, very old, several hundred years. And now he realized that he had to die, so he prayed to God to give him long life. God heard his prayer, and the voice came from heaven: "Yes, my son. What do you wish?" "Please grant me some thousand years more." "Why? You want to become immortal physically? That’s not possible. You have to die sooner or later. Then why not now?" He said, "No, I want to study and learn the Vedas." "Okay." So he gave him 5,000 years, and he was learning and learning and learning. 5,000 years is not a little. 5,000 years gone, and again the message came. Now he had to leave the world again. He begins to pray very intensively: "God, bless me with a long life again." God said, "Why?" He said, "Still I didn’t study all. Please, I want to learn 5,000 years more." So he got another five thousand years extra. Then God sent a messenger. The messenger came and said, "Do you see this mighty Himalaya? How big it is? Thousands of kilometers. And how high? Thousands of meters high. Look to this Himalaya and open your palms like this." So he looks to the Himalaya and opens his palms, and a strong wind came, and with the wind some dust came, and dust fell on his hands. And he said, "Now close your fist, and now open and look inside. What’s inside?" There were some sand corns. The God’s messenger said, "You know, these few corns of the sand are part of the Himalaya. What you have learned till today about Vedas and spirituality and siddhis and yogas is only this much, as much as a sand corn. And what you want to learn is still the entire Himalaya. Now, how many years do you want more? It has no end. Therefore, just pray for Brahmajñāna, for that God consciousness, that liberation." And you know, that liberation you will not get through your intellectual development, but through your spiritual development. And that spiritual development is what Holī Gurujī used to say: one in all and all in one. Unless you realize this, Guru Kripa, you will run here and there, and this is a sign of your ignorance. As much as you learn, that much you are falling into the ignorance side, because the learning has no end. Wisdom has no end. Knowledge is limitless. Knowledge you cannot measure in kilograms or in centimeters or with minutes and seconds, because knowledge is endless. So, as much as you will learn, you will find yourself still seeing how much ignorance you have. So why not make a shortcut? Why not come straight? And that is Ātmā Jñāna, Brahma Jñāna. Without that Jñāna, all other jñāna is zero. Therefore, it is said, know thyself. If you know one, you will know everything. And if you know everything, but you don’t know one, then you know that you don’t know anything. So that inner knowledge, but you must awake this hunger in you. You should have this consciousness within you, but mostly you don’t have this. When I’m talking, then you say, "Yes, very well, oh yes, I want like this," and as soon as I go out, in you the ants are going up. Gossiping, talking, moving, restless, no concentration. I went only for half an hour out; many of you were disturbed and going out and in. Hardly no one was sitting and meditating for tonight for Śiva, and repeating mantra. This is a very clear picture for me that still, you don’t have that consciousness. Lagi, lagi, sab koi kahe, lagi nahi, lagar. Lagi uske aisi lagi, hogay aaram par. Everybody says, "Oh, I was hit. I was hit." But those who were hit by the arrow, it went through and through. So, such an arrow should go through your heart, the arrow of that spirituality. Otherwise, it’s a long way, coming and going, coming and going. So, like the waves of the ocean, you can sit near the ocean on the beach and see how many waves are coming and going. Endless. Day and night. And this is your situation also. So the end is only one of realization, and that’s Guru Kṛpā. Sāgara.
