Self discipline of the yoga teacher

A discourse on the spiritual system of Yoga in Daily Life.

"Yoga did not come to humanity through physical postures or positions. It came through self-discipline, with only one aim: to become one with the universal, to be one with the cosmic."

"The teachings of Yoga in Daily Life are the essence of all the different Gurū-vākyas from across the whole world."

The speaker explains Yoga in Daily Life as a divine path and science aimed at union with the cosmic Self, contrasting it with mere physical exercise. He emphasizes the necessity of the Guru's grace, citing a biblical quote as a universal Gurū Vākya, and argues for the enduring, universal nature of Sanātana Dharma.

The science of Yoga in Daily Life is precisely that—a science and a systematic practice. It is a system with a philosophy, a solid foundational background, and a future. Yoga did not come to humanity through physical postures or positions. It came through self-discipline, profound self-discipline, with only one aim: to become one with the universal, to be one with the cosmic. However, in our case, we are unable to become one with it because of these "friends" we have. We possess so much ego, selfishness, and greed. We harbor so many doubts and are unable to accept others as they are. So how will you accept God as He is? Perhaps God is different from what you think. When you meet Him—I am looking forward to it—how will you act? You might say, "No, this is not what I wanted." Who knows? It might seem better to have remained in this mortal world. To meet God, to understand God, and to survive with God is not an easy job. To meet, understand, and experience God is not an easy task. And what will He do with us? Where will He send us? Whether you like it or not, think it over: Do you truly want to see God? Are you ready? We do not have a clear picture of God. As one bhajan says: > "Miltā hai saccā sukh keval Gurudev tumāre śaraṇome." (The real happiness is found only under your shelter, Gurudev.) You know this bhajan completely, and at the end it is said: What will I do with that face of God which I never saw in life? So it is better that I stay with Gurudeva. Because that which you are searching for—Brahman—will be realized through him. Thus, our aim is to become one with that cosmic Self, who is one without a second, not bound by time and space. One without a second, beyond time and space, present in each and every atom, omniscient and omnipresent. This is what Yoga in Daily Life offers us. Therefore, there are no competitions. We are not physical trainers or instructors in a sports club, training center, or bodybuilding facility. In yoga, it is very gentle, very fine, very divine. It possesses its own quality; our duty is simply to work as it is. Then the system will survive. Otherwise, many systems have come and many have gone away. Therefore, Yoga in Daily Life is a divine path, the way to God, because there is Gurū kṛpā (the Guru's grace). Many holy books write about this. Even in the testament it is said: "I am the way to God, I am with the Father." Now, research these words. Who said this to whom? The Master said to his apostles, his disciples. Which Master? Jesus. So it was a Gurū Vākya (the Guru's utterance). The master told the disciple, "I am the way to God." He did not speak of any other masters—no one else, only and exclusively me. He did not say there was no one before me and no one will be after me. If he had said that—that there will be no one after me—the entire universal system would collapse. Many systems in this world have failed. But Sanātana Dharma, the eternal religion, did not fail because it is universal; it is not personified. The teachings of Yoga in Daily Life are the essence of all the different Gurū-vākyas from across the whole world. Many people do not understand the Gurū. And whenever they write something wrong about the Gurū, I have to laugh, or I feel sorry for these people—how poor they are, how uneducated they are. They write like an illiterate person. To write about something without knowing it is completely wrong. If you write about something without knowledge, it is entirely mistaken. --- Recording location: Hungary, Vep, Welcome seminar
