About seventy or eighty years ago in Rajasthan, there lived a master named Shyāmdās and his disciple, Rāmdās. The master was around one hundred and ten years old. One day, he announced to his disciples and devotees, "I am going now." He stated definitively, "Indeed, I will go." When the day arrived, he declared, "I am leaving my body." He measured the exact dimensions for his grave, sat down within it, and said, "Now I will go. Please place a stone over it." His disciple Rāmdās pleaded, "Master, Master, wait a moment. My dear Master, what will I do without you here? There is no one for me to serve. What will I do, Master? You are going and I am here." The master simply smiled and said, "Let's go. Come and sit." Rāmdās replied, "Yes, Master." They both sat together and chanted, "Oṃ." And it was finished. I wish for such a death. Don't you? But the problem is that when we learn we will leave our body tomorrow, we become nervous. That is the issue. So first, we must overcome the fear of that day. These are the indications from this prāṇa of how we can work within our body to overcome such fears. You see, they are constantly showing Mahāprabhujī's book here. You know what they are showing—that you should buy it. That is the main point. But it is not a commercial book. It is the life story of Mahāprabhujī, who lived for 135 years. One year before his departure, he informed my master of the specific date he would go. He also wrote a letter to Holy Gurujī, who was about 500 kilometers away. Holy Gurujī received the letter, came to meet him, and many devotees gathered. Mahāprabhujī announced the date and time. No one believed him. Such a healthy man—why would he go? "Mahāprabhujī, you can make many jokes with us, but please do not make such a joke." No one took it seriously. But the day came. One week prior, he called all his devotees. They came, he blessed them, and held meetings just as we do. In the evening, he said, "Tomorrow morning, early, one hour before sunrise, during the Brahma Muhūrta, I will depart." People began to grow nervous. Ten minutes before, he told everyone, "Now stop singing." Mahāprabhujī gave them his blessings and some final words. Then, in meditation, he said, "Oṃ." Mahāprabhujī possessed many spiritual powers, or siddhis. He was capable of even giving life to the dead. He could do so many things we would not believe an ordinary human could do. He could look at you and tell you about your many past lives—what happened, and in this life, when and what occurred, your name, where you come from, where your problem lies, and how it would be solved. He could tell you everything. You just had to sit in front of him; you did not need to ask any question. All questions were answered, whether you spoke or simply sat. He would answer everything you could possibly conceive. Mahāprabhujī was a very, very great being. You should read this book a few times to understand who he was, and who Śrī Devpurījī was. All this is the work of those born with spiritual energy. For example, the little Avatārapurī you saw is not an ordinary child. He came into this world with a very divine light and with divine wisdom. Therefore, his play is a divine play. And so many of you also have this tendency; you are sitting here. But due to some circumstances and environment, we ignore it. As soon as we begin to ignore it, we lose the memory. And here we are.
