Bhakta and Bhagawan

Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa are an inseparable union. Without Rādhā, Kṛṣṇa is half, for the devotee and God are the same. Where there are no devotees, God feels lonely and questions His manifestation. With the devotee present, He is happy and performs His divine play. A story illustrates Kṛṣṇa's omnipresence with all devotees. A man verified this by finding Kṛṣṇa uniquely present in every gopī's room. Yet one gopī, consumed by jealousy, felt abandoned and had not seen Him. Such a mental tendency creates loneliness and self-torture. All are one as beautiful devotees in various relationships. Be happy and relaxed without tension.

"Where God is, devotees are. Where there are no devotees, God is so lonely."

"If you have such a vṛtti, then you are lonely. You are torturing yourself."

Filming location: Strilky, Czech Republic

First, you said Rādhā, and then you said Kṛṣṇa: Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. If you take the "R" out from Rādhā, it becomes ādhā. And ādhā means "half." So, without Rādhā, Kṛṣṇa is half. Where God is, devotees are. Where there are no devotees, God is so lonely and He doesn't feel comfortable. He asks Himself, "What am I doing here? Why am I here? Why did I manifest this?" When the bhakta, the devotee, is here, then He is happy and He makes His līlā. That is called Līlādhārī; then He plays His divine plays. So the bhakta and Bhagavān are both the same. The devotee and God are both the same. It is difficult to understand them, and He is with all devotees. There is a story. Someone asked, "How is it possible that Kṛṣṇa can be with everyone at once?" They told him, "Ask the gopīs." So the man went door to door. He knocked on one door to ask the gopī if Kṛṣṇa was with her. She opened the door, and Kṛṣṇa was there drinking milk. (At that time, there was no chai.) He didn't need to ask; it was clear. Immediately, he went next door and knocked. Kṛṣṇa was there putting a shawl over His body. The man thought these rooms might have double doors. So he quickly knocked on another door, and there Kṛṣṇa was sitting and saying, "Brahmā, Brahmā, Brahmā." Again, he went quickly down to another floor. He knocked there, and Kṛṣṇa was playing the flute. He checked about twenty-five rooms, and in every room Kṛṣṇa was there performing different actions. So he came back and said, "Now I believe." And then he said, "But now, already..." There was one gopī who was jealous, and she also had apartments nearby. He knocked on her door, and she was sitting on her bed like this. Someone was knocking, and she thought, "Kṛṣṇa is coming." But He was not there. He asked her, "Where is Kṛṣṇa?" She said, "He doesn't like me, maybe. For twenty days I have not seen His face, but He is next door. Don't tell me this; I don't want to listen to it." So, if you have such a vṛtti (a mental tendency), then you are lonely. You are torturing yourself. Therefore, we are all one—all beautiful brothers and sisters, all beautiful devotees. Some of you are sisters, some are mothers, some are wives, some are husbands, fathers, brothers, or somehow future husbands or future wives. Be happy and relaxed. Have no tension. Those who have tension go very quickly into pension; it means you are retired from everything. So, enjoy and understand Rakṣā Bandhan.
