Never have doubts

A narration of a miraculous story from the Līlā Amṛt scripture about Śrī Mahāprabhujī.

"Mahāprabhujī read his thoughts. You know, Mahāprabhujī knew everything—what you think, what you did, what you are doing... That is called Trikāla Darśī."

"Mahāprabhujī changed his form to that of a two- or three-year-old child. He sat in the water and began playing with it... He resumed his original form. He said, 'Towel.'... 'Never have doubt in Gurudev.'"

The speaker recounts a story where Mahāprabhujī's attendant, Devī Singhjī, doubts whether the master's heavy body will cause a bathtub to overflow. Perceiving this doubt, Mahāprabhujī enters the tub and miraculously transforms into a small child to bathe, demonstrating his divine nature as a knower of all thoughts (Trikāla Darśī) and teaching a lesson in absolute faith.

You have read the Līlā Amṛt, the entire stories of meeting with Śrī Mahāprabhujī, and how Holy Gurujī attained the realization that Mahāprabhujī is indeed the Supreme Incarnation. There is one small story described in the Līlā Amṛt. It took place when Mahāprabhujī was in Jodhpur, during the time Holy Gurujī met him. Mahāprabhujī had an invitation to stay for the monsoon season in Jodhpur, and an arrangement was made from the Mahārājā's side. There were a few people in Mahāprabhujī's sevā, his service. This story, as you know, is written in the Līlā Amṛt. Recently, someone made a beautiful documentary film, visiting all the places where Śrī Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī, and Gurujī lived, exploring the kinds of experiences one had with the master. This particular story is set in Jodhpur. One morning, Mahāprabhujī said, "Today I will have a bath in the bathtub." It was a very old-style bathtub with nice legs, a sitting type, of a nice oval form. His sevaka was a man named Devī Singhjī, who is still living. He filled the tub with water and was in attendance for the service. He had the towels and the soap, everything ready. Mahāprabhujī took his shirt and shawl away and was about to step into the bathtub with one leg. Devī Singhjī was thinking; he was in doubt. Mahāprabhujī had a very strong, heavy body, and the sevak thought that when Mahāprabhujī sat in the tub, all the water would overflow. Mahāprabhujī read his thoughts. You know, Mahāprabhujī knew everything—what you think, what you did, what you are doing, where you are going, what happened, and why it happened. That is called Trikāla Darśī. Trikāla Darśī means the knower of the past, present, and future, the Antaryāmī, the knower of our inner self. Such beings do not open themselves; it is very, very rare. Otherwise, they would not demonstrate, "I know what you are thinking, I know this and that." They only do so when it is important. Mahāprabhujī didn't say anything. He stepped with both holy feet into the bathtub. What a miracle then occurred: Mahāprabhujī changed his form to that of a two- or three-year-old child. He sat in the water and began playing with it, like children do, "patla patla patla," splashing about. The fellow who was standing near Mahāprabhujī was no longer present in his awareness; he did not know what was happening. Mahāprabhujī had a very nice bath in this manner. Then, the bhakta was still standing there with folded hands and towels. Mahāprabhujī stood up—a little baby—and as he stood, he resumed his original form. He said, "Towel." Mahāprabhujī dried his body, smiled, and said, "Never have doubt in Gurudev." Only Mahāprabhujī can do such things. We are the blessed ones, the fortunate ones. We are the luckiest ones, that we can serve the dust of his holy lotus feet. If you do not accept my service directly, then please let me serve through your servants. Let me help your bhaktas; for me, that is a service to you. That is the consciousness and attitude of a spiritual seeker and a spiritual bhakta. Those who are on the surface do not understand this. They are changing like the weather changes. They will not receive the part they should receive. And the mistake is within ourselves, not in others. --- Recording location: Australia, Brisbane, World Peace Tour
