Human body - physical and astral

A spiritual discourse on the value of human life and the mechanics of karma.

"You perform the action, God will give the fruit. The fruits do not depend on you, and this is the nature of human life."

"Good karma will definitely yield good fruits, and bad karmas will yield bad fruits. This depends on you."

A speaker explains the precious and singular opportunity of human birth, which occurs on the karma bhūmi (field of action) where actions through the physical body generate consequences. Using the analogy of a dream to illustrate the astral body's inability to create new karma, he emphasizes that one's accumulated deeds alone guide the soul after death, accompanied only by the light of mantra and the Guru.

We are very fortunate to have a spiritual guide in Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī. We make mistakes, you and I, but he will forgive us. Therefore, human life is extremely valuable. It will not be given again and again, but birth will occur again and again. You are born and you will be reborn. However, you cannot decide or choose how and where you will be reborn. You can only work in that direction, and the final decision will be made based on your karmas at the end of this life. Karma kīye jā phal dega bhagavān, yehī hai Gītā kā jñāna. Karma kīye jā phal dega bhagavān, yehī hai Gītā kā jñāna. This is the teaching, the knowledge of the Gītā. God Kṛṣṇa said, "Arjuna, go ahead, do your karma, the fruits I will give." The fruits do not depend on you, and this is the nature of human life. Now, human life is also limited; it is not an immortal body. One day, the body will pass away, and all its elements will merge or unite with their origins: the fire element into fire, water into water, earth into earth, and so on. But there is another thing we should know: whatever you want to do, you can do only through this physical body. In the entire universe, there are no possibilities or facilities for you, and you cannot do anything through your astral body. This is the difference between the physical body and the astral body. The physical body is capable of doing karma. The astral body cannot do karma. The physical body is here, which is why we call this planet our karma bhūmi—the field where we can cultivate our karmas. Acchā karma is śubha karma, leading to śubha phala. Aśubha karma leads to aśubha phala. Śubha means the best, the good. Good karma will definitely yield good fruits, and bad karmas (aśubha) will yield bad fruits. This depends on you. For example, I have been working on the subject of dreams for more than a decade and have told you much about them. A dream is a reality of your desires, or it is the production of your reflection—the impressions from the material world gathered through your jñāna indriyas (organs of knowledge). We are here in the Brisbane āshram, and later you will go home and sleep, but you are sleeping in Brisbane. Now you dream that you are in Perth. While dreaming, you may know that you are sleeping in Brisbane and are only dreaming of being in Perth. Sometimes you are not aware of this; you simply enjoy your dream and return. You dream you are in Perth, visiting a friend. You knock on the door—no answer. You ring the bell—no answer. It means the friend is not home. You write a message on a piece of paper, put it under the door, come back, and your dream ends. Later, you telephone your friend: did he find a piece of paper under his door? No. You were there, you wrote, you placed the paper under the door, but the neighbor received nothing. This demonstrates that the astral body does act and experience things, but these actions are not counted as karma because there is no ability or power to create karma through it. The astral body is only there to experience the results of your good or bad karmas in the subtle space. After death, we will know what we have done—good things or bad things. No one is with you there. No one. Death means you have to jump into the endless universe. Off you go. Only what will guide us are our good karmas or bad karmas. It is said that the light of your mantra, the energy of your mantras, and the consciousness or spiritual light of the Gurudeva—only that will accompany you, nothing else. --- Recording location: Australia, Brisbane, World Peace Tour
